Walk down Capitol Hill admiring the neighborhood. Listen to Wait Wait. At last, I'm laughing about something. The next program - Money Planet - makes me pessimistic. Bad Banks! OMG! It sounds like we're in a shit load of trouble. Take a walk around the Pike and Pine neighborhood. Down to the library with my Samsung. Check e-mail. Whatever. Bumped into Elaine at Freeway Park. A lot of talk about volcanoes because of Jindal's comment - Volcano Watching Is Frivolous. Toast and tuna salad for breakfast. Bath. ATM $60. Walk up Westlake to work. 9 - Impomptu meeting. Bad news. The Hutch could out-source our jobs. Hutch Kids could be no more. Some parents from the board say they'll fight for us. I call Michael right after the meeting. I feel numb. It's hard to focus. Back to the kids. They're doing their stuff...Cat is trying to take pictures with a toy camera."Cheese!" Ro is on his cell saying "Hiya Hiya Hiya."I need to do Dolphin/Sea Otter lunches. Now I'm jittery - "They can't let this happen," I tell myself. 12 - Charmaine's lunch. 8 Dolphins and the usual lunch craziness. 1 - Elaine's lunch. We have to scramble to cover Andy's lunch. He was forgotten. Streetcar to Whole Foods. Get some wine. Drop off stuff at home. Grab my Samsung. Up to visit Michael. He gives me t-shirts from his vacation. He likes my Samsung. I show him the meno about Hutch Kids. Back to my place. Spaghetti and curried chicken for dinner. Watch Dune.

donderdag 26 februari 2009 Up at 4:24. Shew! It's snowing. Turn on KIRO to check out the weather. Snow Returns To Western Washington. People are spinning out all over the highways. "Stay at home if at all possible!"No... FHCRC - conditions normal. Spaghetti and tuna salad for breakfast. Bath. Slog through the slush on the sidewalks up to Kaladi. Oh! Jeremiah is wearing his smock down. (Good for you!) Listen to Stephanie Miller on the wi-fi. I also watch the Oh God Moment With Jindal. I leave Jeremiah all by himself. "Have a good day," he tells me. "I will. Take care." The sidewalks are really slippery. Back to my place to drop off my Samsung. Why is my other computer so slow? Walk up Westlake. I decide to wait for the streetcar. It's too cold and sloppy to walk the rest of the way. The streetcar is packed with people. 9 to 11 - Planning time for Elaine. Margot stays, and we set up the water table. We strip the kids down to their diapers, and they run around gleefully basking in their nakedness. Margot finds some ice cubes to put in. The kids munch and crunch them. When we dress up the kids, Sara makes a big fuss about it. Meltdown! Over to the Bike Room to hang out with the Seahorses and Moons & Stars combined. 12 - Charmaine's lunch. 7 Dolphins sit and eat... sort of. No diapers... except for Catherine. Nap is a struggle. We need extra help. Heather gets Julian to sleep. Thank goodness. 1 - Andy is relieved to go on his break. Finally, it's quiet time. Walk up to Whole Foods to get some dip and salsa. Walk up Terry to my place. Turn on The World. I like the report of a woman's experiences as a pro-Mao exchange student in China in the 1970s. Spaghetti with turkey sausage for dinner. Watch Jungle Book.It helps me to feel warm to watch Jason Scott Lee running around India in a loin cloth... especially on a cold Winter day like this.

Steph interviews David Shuster of "1600 Pennsylvania Avenue" on the show. Walk up to Kaladi and hook up on their Wi-Fi. Back to my place to drop of my Samsung. Play with Speedo Junkie. Walk through Cascade on my way to work. Planning time for Gloria - 9 to 12. Renée covers for Olivia. Short time on the playground with the Seahorses. It starts to rain. It seems Renée doesn't like Winter weather. It's raining pretty good, now. Bye, bye playground. We play with gak.
"We need tools," they told me. We also play with puzzles. I think that Renée gets frustrated with my ditsiness. I definitely feel ditsy today. I do the circle time. They like Waiting For Baby. I sit with Kristen at lunch. She likes to talk with me. Everyone seems to have the sniffles. I can hear their sniffly noses at nap time. Streetcar to d'town. I'm tired. The Seahorses wear me out. Walk over to M Street to get some oranges and their beet salad. Turn on The World. Report about Iraqi Mandaeans In Worcester Massachusetts. Spinach - beet salad and spaghetti with hamburger sauce for dinner.Watch movie - The Love Guru. Silly movie, I admit. But I love The Love Guru. Mike Meyers helps me laugh... especially after a hard day at child care.

Rowan isn't feeling well. He has a 99.7° fever. His dad drops by to give him some Motrin. I'm extra from 12 to 1. Skylar sets up lunches. Over to Dolphins for Andy's break. It takes a while to get Julian to sleep... 20 minutes of songs and stroking. Walk up to Whole Foods to get a few things. Drop off stuff at my place. Up to G & M's to do the litter. Michelle has a meltdown when her mom drops her off. Geez! Playground until 10:45. Inside, we make pasta necklaces and bracelets. Circle time was only 5 minutes long, and Cyrus gets very upset about that. Over to Sea Otters to cover lunch breaks for Elaine and Margot. They fall right to sleep at nap. Streetcar to d'town. Do the kitty litter and the food. Their bowls are almost empty. Walk over to my place. My new laptop doesn't like Comcast. Frown. It likes the wireless, though. So, I upload Google Earth, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Back to G & M's place. Write a letter for Nana and e-mail it to Mom and Lisa. Chat a while with mom. Take a short walk up and down University Street. Brrr. I hope it warms up. Start to watch Contact... up until Matt and Jody meet.
Take another walk down Boren, turn at 12th and zig-zag through the International District. I notice more apartment buildings in the area. Shop at Uwajimaya for chicken fried rice, Xo Jan chicken wings and spinach. #24 bus up to d'town. It's getting warmer. It's up to 52°. I love it. Walk down to use the Seattle Public Library's Wi-Fi Service. Do I see 11 Mbps? That's fine... I could stream KBCS while downloading more programs and while e-mailing mom. On the 10th floor, there's a nice view. Lots of people are on-line. One guy is using 2 laptops. Back to Cat City to watch a little more Contact. Switch to Fight Club. Interesting movie. You don't talk about fight club. When someone says stop, or goes limp, even if he's just faking it, the fight is over. Uwajimaya stuff for dinner. Watch Meet Joe Black after dinner. It's a Brad Pitt kind of day.

Turn on The Stephanie Miller Show. I don't think the cats like the streaming radio through the computer. Their ears bend back and Phoenix is darting to and fro. Couscous lentil curry for breakfast. Shower. Head over to Kaladi. 7:13 - Jeremiah is slammed by the Mercedes people. 7 lattes in 7 minutes. Good job, Jeremiah! (I hope that they tip him well.) Walk down to my place to check e-mail. Walk through Cascade on my way to work. Cover for a lot of breaks starting with Andy. I'm in every toddler classroom. Nice paint project, Starfish! Ich male gern!



Lunch prep for Starfish. Oh! A package arrives for me from Amazon. Whoo hoo! Hang out with Starfish for lunch time, potty time and nap time. I goes pretty smoothly. Well... Michelle's mom visits at lunch time, and she cries when she tries to leave. Streetcar to d'town. Lug my package up to my place. All that packaging for a 10" laptop. Take the laptop over to G & M's to charge it and set it up. It's simple. I even get a wireless connection to use. Left-over couscous and salmon salad for dinner. SciFi marathon -- "Jeremiah" - Strange Attractors, "7 Days" - Revelation, "Star Trek Enterprise" - Home... I doze off for a little bit... Watch "Battlestar Galactica" - Deadlock.

Walk through Freeway Park and the convention center - up 8th and up Westlake to work. Up to Moons & Stars to cover for the teachers' team meeting.Scrambled eggs for snack. The kids just drink the orange juice. We read The Cat In The Hat and we discuss the finish to the story. "The Cat comes to school and eats scramble eggs." There are a lot of interesting comments. Over to the Dolphins' dance class. Andy is having fun, too.



Manav sees his dad at the coffee shop and gets upset. "Daddy!" I help with Sea Otter lunch prep. Over to Starfish for Leisha's lunch. Wow! A lot of the Starfish food goes to waste. Animal-Rights-Guy is playing Fleet Foxes. It's nice... mellow. Walk over to City Market to get a Lotto. Walk down Bellevue to work. Breaks, breaks, breaks! Starting with Gloria. I'm with every tod group... inside and outside. Use open space to set up Sea Otter lunches. 12 - Elaine's lunch. Sea Otter messiness at lunchtime. 1 - Margot's lunch. David talks with his mom while everyone else sleeps. I finally get him to sleep. Use Amazon in the computer room to buy a new laptop - The Samsung NC-10 in white.

Shop at QFC for Red Baron pizza, Perrier and olives. Drop off stuff at G & M's place. Walk up to Cal Anderson Park. The sun is trying to come out of the clouds. Back to cat town. Pet Phoenix and Maxine.

Last time, it put me back to sleep. Not this time. When it's over, I turn on BBC News. I hardly listen to it. I think about things. Zap an egg and zap some rice and chili for breakfast. Turn on Stephanie Miller. Tinsel Talk is a hoot!

Bath. Walk up to Kaladi. Hey! There's Jeremiah on duty! Some guy is REALLY bending his ear. Stop at home to get an orange. Up 9th and up Westlake to work. Darnell and I cover for Olivia's and Gloria's Tod Team Meeting. Darnell has the group in the Bike Room when we have another earthquake drill. It revs up the kids again. Work in the hallway a little. Lunch prep for Sea Otters. Over to Seahorses for Gloria's and Olivia's lunch breaks. The kids are not very hunger. They conk out fast at naptime. Play Israel Kamakawiwo'ole for nap music. Streetcar to d'town. #550 bus tunnel to Uwajimaya. Get some produce. Back to my place on #106 bus tunnel. Watch the YouTube vid Q & A on Stephanie Miller.

Lots of people call in - problems with icy roads. Icy Roads Cause Havoc! Fold a little laundry. Hang out with the Seahorses. They love puzzles. Over to Sea Otters. Elaine needs planning time. We go down to the Bike Room for a little bit. No one is using it. Then we head out to the playground. It's quite a sandy mess. We can have fun outside anyway. It's a beautiful sunny Winter day.





12 - Gloria's lunch. 7 Seahorses munch on lunch. They're quite chatty. Sophia tells me that they took a walk to "Farewell Park"... really - Fairview Park. 1 - Olivia's lunch. Naptime for the kids. Nice and quiet. 2 - Walk up to Whole Foods to get some mineral water, dip and Europa blend coffee. Adam is my clerk. He's a cute young man. Walk home - reverse course of my morning walk. Drop off stuff. Listen to The World. Send e-mails to Nancy and Mike about The Kevin Black Memorial Ride. I'm still emotional about what happened. What a violent way to die! I need another walk. Walk down Harbor Steps and back up the new Union Street Steps. I have to admire the new Four Seasons at 99 Union. Back home Turn on Ron Reagan. He was a great guy... one of my favorite parents in my long child care career. A real C.D. I muddle through the day thinking of him. Planning time for Olivia. Zelda covers for Gloria. (Zelda can be a little bossy. I just shrug it off. We go to the playground. It's still snowing a little. The kids love it. Start potty time at 10:15. Back inside to play with playdough.
