maandag 30 november 2009

maandag 30 november 2009 Very restless night. It's too warm in the apartment. Turn on BBC News. Report - Dubai World Debt 'Not Guaranteed' By Government. There's a lot of stuff about Dubai. They also talk about a city in Northern England - Darlington - which uses a private security team for protection. 'Fearless Francis': Darlington's Hero? Toast with spicy chicken and some beet salad for breakfast. Bath. Up to Kaladi for coffee. Take my coffee back to my place. Hang out. Streetcar to work while listening to KUOW. Interesting discussion about Food Rebellions! Crisis and the Hunger for Justice.

10 to 10:45 - Breaks for Pam, Kenn and Patty. 10:45 to 11:45 - Kris' lunch. Seven Seahorses have free play. I read some stories to the kids. Set up their lunches. 11:45 to 12:30 - Charmaine's lunch. Seven busy Sea Otters. Patty sets up the lunches, and I do the mats. I feel really tired. I give myself a break at 12:45. 1 - Pam's lunch. Only 4 Dolphins. They're asleep already. Of course, Stella wakes up early. 2 - Patty's lunch. Sea Otters are napping. Wyatt wakes up sad, but I manage to get him back to sleep. Ryan wakes up sad, too. Something is bugging him. I'm not sure what. Walk all the way up to M Street Grocery to get some oysters, juice, coffee filters and Hot Pockets. Back to my place. I have a hard time accessing The Ron Reagan Show. I resort to using the Live Stream from Air America in Washington. Whatever works. Spaghetti for dinner. Watch Star Trek - Let That Be Your Last Battlefield.

Two survivors of a devasted planet remain committed to destroying one another. "Scotty! We're suddenly off course!"

vrijdag 27 november 2009

vrijdag 27 november 2009 I manage to sleep in until 5:30. Turn on KUOW to hear NPR News. I enjoy the interview with Colum McCann - the author of Let the Great World Spin. WTC Provides Back Story For Colum McCann's 'Spin'

I admit that I'm a sucker for Irish accents. Just coffee for me this morning. Turn on AM 1090. I don't know the guy subbing for Stephanie Miller. I listen to his interview with Antonia Juhasz about The Tyranny Of Oil. Play with Google Earth. I am not sure the reason I visit these out-of-the-way places, but I explore Washougal, Washington. I play a lot with Famous Males Forums. There are a lot of postings for Leigh Coda. I guess that the Brits are loving his guest-star, strip-tease appearance on EastEnders.

I spend most of my day indoors, checking blogs and e-mail. It's sunny with blue skies today. Here's a little story about Black Sunday in Seattle. This cute guy gets a Best Buy all to himself. I think that this is going to be a No Buy Day for me today... Not even coffee.

I wonder how much this guy spent.

Re-watch V - Episode 4. I love the scene where Tyler visits the Visitors' engine room.

And the Bliss scene is good, too. "What was that?" Just Bliss. Then I watch Following. Interesting movie. Who's good? Who's evil? Don't make me guess! He says, "Where they come from... What they do... I listen to their conversations." Be careful. Don't listen to all of them.

Then it's School for Scoundrels. Watch out, Roger. "Pride" is one of the 7 deadly sins.

donderdag 26 november 2009

One of my favorite episodes of Friends. When Brad Pitt joins the Friends. As Phoebe sez: Oh, C'mon Will! Take off your shirt... and tell us the truth!

I get trains back and forth to Uwajimaya. Four security guards ride with me up in the elevator. One of them is cute. I see the cute one a lot... but he's a payment enforcement officer... I've seen him get hard-ass on non-paying people. (Kind of a turn on for me.) Many Asians shopping at Uwajimaya. It seems like I'm the only Caucasian in the store. For Thanksgiving, the store seem busy, but the rest of d'town is dead. I get some fried shrimp and rice noodles for my Thanksgiving dinner. Oh,my. There's Daikon radish, cilantro and garlic in it. Yum.

Watch some old Star Trek - The Corbomite Maneuver. Yes! There's Delta Vega. I'm in the Star Trek Chain Re-action!

woensdag 25 november 2009

woensdag 25 november 2009 Up with alarm. Turn on Bill Press. He plays the "banned" Peta Thanksgiving commercial.

Left-over Hot Salad and h-b egg for breakfast. Bath. Up to Kaladi for coffee. Poor barista. She's all by herself. It's very quiet in the shop. Take my coffee back to my place. I'm going to chill it in the frig. I'm addicted to BBC News. Check out Obama's state dinner - Barack Obama Praises India's Ties In Talks With PM Singh. Hal Sparks - self-proclaimed Gay Adjacent - visits Stephanie Miller. They talk about the Adam Lambert brouhaha. He gets too racy for ABC. Let's all put on nun habits and move to Italy. Streetcar to work. There's a snafu in the schedule, so I'm Pam most of the day. Five Dolphins today. Patty and Charmaine have low numbers. They cover their own breaks. Kenn comes in to give me a break just when the Dolphins sit down for lunch. When I come back, lunch is already over. They go down early for naps. Teresa takes her lunch when they're all asleep. I'm alone with 5 sleeping children. Stella takes a whole hour nap. 2 - Patty's lunch. Five minute after Patty leaves, Wyatt wakes up crying. It wakes up Alex and Caitlin. No one goes back to sleep. 3 - Walk to d'town. Listen to NPR News on my radio. Report - Group's Video Equates Flying And Polar Bears.

Wow! That's quite graphic. Drop off stuff at my place. Walk down 5th to Uwajimaya. I get the last bottle of Sho Chicu Bai. Score! #73 bus tunnel to my place. Chicken fried rice and BBQ chicken wings for dinner. I watch The Forbidden Kingdom through to the end. It's a fun movie. South Boston teenager Jason Tripitikas (Michael Angarano) is shown to be a fan of kung fu films; posters cover the walls of his room, and his television displays the film Monkey Goes West (1966).

Jason is rescued by the inebriated traveling scholar Lu Yan (Jackie Chan), a supposed 'immortal', who is surprisingly alert and agile even when drunk.

Our hero - Jason - awakens from a dream of a battle between the Monkey King Sun Wukong (Jet Li) and heavenly soldiers amongst clouds.

Sun Wukong needs his Ruyi Jingu Bang.

Lu Yan and the Silent Monk teach Jason kung fu including meditation.

dinsdag 24 november 2009

dinsdag 24 november 2009 Up at 4:01. Turn on BBC News. Report - Inquiry Focuses On Iraq 'Threat' Former Prime Minister Tony Blair will be among the future witnesses to the committee. Not hungry for breakfast. Just coffee. Turn on Stephanie Miller. They seem a little scattered on the show. Ew! They talk about fried sauerkraut for Thanksgiving. They do comment about Chris Matthews' confrontation with a Bishop on Hardball last night. (I saw that.) Tweety Gets To The Heart of the Abortion Matter With Bishop Tobin. In a breathtakingly tight argument, Chris Matthews corners Rhode Island Bishop Thomas Tobin, who has banned Rep. Patrick Kennedy, D-R.I., from receiving Holy Communion due to his views on abortion. Bath. Streetcar to work. Celeste tells me that I can get a H1N1 shot.

Over to the Yale Building. It's quick and easy. No wait for the shot. 10 - Sea Otters have a purple paint project. 10:45 to 1:00 - I am Pam. Kathy covers for Teresa's Observation Meeting. Six Dolphins have free play. Jacob - an SPU student - is extra for lunch. That's nice. Austin has a 101° fever. He goes home. Naps are easy... except Stella flips out when I don't rock her. 1 - Teresa's lunch. Quiet time. Piper coughs herself awake. We wander over to The Turtles to hang out. 2 - Patty's lunch. All 7 Sea Otters are napping. They wake up one-by-one. Streetcar to d'town. #41 bus tunnel to Benaroya. #12 up Madison to M Street Grocery. Get some Banquet chicken, chips, salad and soda. Drop off stuff at my place. Turn on KTLK. No Ron Reagan. He's not well. Nicole Sandler subs. She talks about - among other subjects (mostly Health Care Reform) - The Cannibis Cafe In Oregon. Hot (spicy) salad for dinner with spinach, red onions, garlic stuffed olives, marinated red peppers and jalapeno peppers. Watch movie - The Forbidden Kingdom.

I need to try to watch this movie another day. Not in the mood for martial arts.

It is a struggle to get her to sleep, too. 12:30 to 1:15 - Kenn's lunch. It's quiet time for the Dolphins. 1:15 to 2:00 - Olivia's lunch. The Seahorses sleep until 2. 2:00 - Patty's lunch. Take Wyatt and Caitlin to the Bike Room. Lots of tods are up early today. Walk down Westlake to 8th. Get a Mondo Burrito. AM 1090 has changed their line-up. Norman Goldman is on. Friday, November 20, 2009

vrijdag 20 november 2009

vrijdag 20 november 2009 Up with alarm. Turn on AM 1090. Ah! There's Bill Press. Then it's Stephanie Miller. Christian Weller, Economist with The Center for American Progress, calls in to talk about whether we are really seeing a recovery in the economy. He doesn't sound very optimistic. This is what he says: Lingering weakness in the labor market is threatening the fledgling economic recovery. Millions of jobs have been lost and unemployment has risen to the highest level in almost three decades. The labor market weakness will make it harder for families to repay their high levels of debt and thus will likely contribute to high foreclosures, credit card defaults, and bankruptcies. Steph - silly Steph - drives the show off the rails with references to The Bionic Man and The Bionic Woman. It's her reaction to the sad economic news.

Chili on rice for breakfast. Up to Kaladi for coffee. Back to my place. The Seattle Times pans the New Moon movie. From the trailers I've seen, it looks exciting.

Streetcar to work. 10 to 11 - I cover for Patty while she does DAP with Robin. Only 4 Sea Otters today. Charmaine's makes a challenging climbing structure by tipping over some cubbies. Alex is excited about it. Caitlin manages to get it, but she asks for my help to get out. I wish that I had my camera. 11 to 12 - Charmaine's lunch. Outside with the Sea Otters. It starts to rain, so we head inside. It's a cold rain, too. I set up lunches while Patty reads Hug to the kids. They love that story!

12 to 1 - Pam's lunch. No diapers. The 7 Dolphins go down for naps. They go out to sleep so fast. 1 to 2 - Teresa's lunch. Pam and I just stare at sleeping kids... until Piper wakes up. At 1:40, 5 Dolphins are awake. 2 - Patty's lunch. The Sea Otters snooze, and I get to leave a little early. Streetcar to d'town. Train to Uwajimaya. Get some Sweet & Sour Chicken, lime juice, Thai tea and lime juice. #550 bus tunnel back to my place. Drop off stuff. Short walk around Denny Triangle. There are some cute kids getting tickets at the Paramount for Wolfmother. Turn on Ron Reagan. A little discussion about Sarah Palin becoming President of the USA.

Thursday, November 19, 2009

donderdag 19 november 2009

donderdag 19 november 2009 Up at 4:00. Turn on BBC News. Report - Karzai Sets Target For Afghanistan Forces To Take Over. They spend about 30 minutes on just Afghanistan. Turn on Stephanie Miller. Steph and mooks seem somewhat surprised that the Senate turned out a rather "robust" health care bill. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid unveiled long-awaited legislation last night to extend health care coverage to all but 6% of eligible Americans and bar private industry from denying insurance because of pre-existing medical conditions. The bill would reduce deficits by $127 billion over a decade. Mexican omelet for breakfast - jalapeños, cilantro, cheese, black olives and a little salsa. Bath. Play with Sundance... Isabella Rossellini does some interesting, creative and funny short movies about the sex lives of Squid, Praying Mantises and (watch) >>> Anchovies.

Walk to d'town to take the streetcar to work. It's rather rainy. Thankfully, the Dolphins and Sea Otters have access to the Bike Room. 10 to 11 - Breaks for Charmaine, Pam, Theresa and Patty. 11 to 12 - Cover for Patty's DAP class for new employees. The Sea Otters trash the classroom - emptying every shelf and container of every toy. Yes! Bike Room! I take a handful down. The Dolphins stay behind... to watch the big kids have fun in the rain.

12 to 1 - Charmaine's lunch. Busy hour with lunch, clean up, diapers and naps. Wyatt and Ryan conk right out. Alex is a mess. Wow! It takes 25 minutes to calm him down and to sleep. 1 to 2 - Pam's lunch. It's quiet for a while. When Stella wakes up, I take her the Turtle Room. The Turtles welcome us with open arms. We do bubbles. 2 - Teresa's lunch. I take Stella back. Nolan and Piper are awake. Streetcar at 3:02. Short walk around d'town. Back at my place, I turn on Ron Reagan. Ron discusses the case of An Officer Tasing A 10-Year-Old. Ron is a busy guy today. He appears on MSNBC. Chris Matthews welcomed Ron Reagan and Ned Lamont on tonight's "Hardball" for a discussion about Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman's chances of derailing the Health Care bill's passage. It's nice to see the Seattle skyline in the background.

Watch the VIDEO.

woensdag 18 november 2009

woensdag 18 november 2009 Dream of making a spinach salad with raspberries for Lynette. Up at 5. Turn on BBC News. Report - Lockdown For Algeria-Egypt Clash. Sudanese security forces have thrown a tight cordon around the capital Khartoum for Wednesday's Egypt-Algeria World Cup play-off. C'mon people... It's just a game. Later, I turn on Stephanie Miller. She and Hal Sparks talk about the conservative brouhaha about Trying The Sept. 11 Suspects In NYC. (NPR talks about it, too.) There literally is no end to the extent by which Republican politicians will lie, distort, and manufacture statements in their efforts to disrupt, deny, and destroy the Obama administration's attempts to govern. At today's Senate Judiciary Committee hearings on 9/11 trial, the Fort Hood shooter, and terrorism, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) decided to flip-flop on the designation of the Gitmo detainees. Are they "unlawful enemy combatants" or are they "prisoners of war"?

Artichoke and onion omelet on toast for breakfast. Bath. Up to Kaladi. I say, "You Did It!" to Jeremiah. He tells me of his time - 5:27:43 - and the medals he got for doing the marathons. He seems to be in a good mood... as usual. Back to my place. Play with No Shirts. It's a nice morning... The calm before the storm. Walk up Westlake to work. 10 to 11 - Kitchen help. Kim tells me about Anna from "V"... and she's Morena Baccarin from Firefly! And Wash is on the show, too. 11 to 11:45 - Kris' lunch. Théo is really emotional. I read Nos Jeux to him. That seems to calm him down. I think that Owen is vying for the Alpha Dog position in the classroom, and Théo doesn't like it. 11:45 to 12:45 - Andy's lunch. Rainforest Kids are dancing with Margot. Then they get out their lunches. It's nice to eat with the group. 1 to 2 - Anne's lunch. Seven Starfish sleep. Ben goes to sleep easily. Bella wakes up early. We go to the Infant Room to play. 2 - Patty's lunch. Seven Sea Otters sleep. Nice and quiet. Streetcar up to Whole Foods. It's spitting rain and blustery. Stay at home. Check out Crooks & Liars. Evanan is upset again about naptime, but Patty takes care of him. Seven Sea Otters sleep. 2 - Patty's lunch. Alex and Edie wake up early. I take them down to the Bike Room. It starts to shower as soon as I leave work. Streetcar to d'town. Short walk around d'town. At my place, I turn on Ron Reagan. He seems somewhat mystified by the allure of Sarah Palin. Watch MSNBC News without much interest. Report - Palin Calls Newsweek Cover 'Sexist'

Monday, November 16, 2009

maandag 16 november 2009

maandag 16 november 2009 Awake at 2:15. Turn on BBC News. They report about Obama's Town Hall In China. (Huffington Post has VIDEO.) Fall back to sleep. The alarm goes off at 5:00. Switch to AM 1090. Stephanie Miller finds hypocrisy in Giuliani's comments - Giuliani Furious About 9/11 Trial Decision. He says that we can't keep coddling the 9/11 killers. Geez. Steph also interviews the God Hates Shrimp guy. This is rather amusing. Now realize, this site is a parody. It is meant to poke fun at people like Fred Phelps, and at people who protest against gay people and gay marriage.

Artichoke and onion omelet with rice for breakfast. Bath. Get a few things at M Street Grocery. Drop off stuff. Walk through the underground corridor in Rainier Square to 4th. Streetcar to work. It rains all day. Sea Otters and Dolphins stay couped up inside all day, too. 10 to 11 - Breaks for Charmaine, Pam, Teresa and Lydia. 45-minute lunches. First, Olivia. Third lunch, Pam. The Dolphins are going down for naps. They go to sleep easily, but next door, the Sea Otters are struggling with naps. I go over to help them out. Evanan takes a while to settle down. Fourth lunch, Teresa. Stella is up already. Then Ivy, Pepper and Austin. 30-minute naps... but the noise next door wakes them up. Fifth lunch, Lydia. It's fairly quiet for the Sea Otters. They're good nappers usually. 2:45 - Olivia's 15-minute break. Then I'm off. Streetcar to d'town. Over to Convention Center to get my Monday Mondo Burrito. It's keeps raining.

Stay inside listening to Ron Reagan. Munch on my burrito for dinner. Watch movie - G. I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra.

Oh my goodness. Here's the Baroness.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Rex Lewis / The Doctor / Cobra Commander: The Baroness's brother, a former mild-mannered U.S. Soldier who was thought to be killed during an operation - instead, he became the insane disfigured MARS head scientist. Channing Tatum as Conrad Hauser / Duke: The lead soldier.

zondag 15 november 2009 Up at 4:06. Turn on BBC News. Listen to an interview of the author of The Prize: The Epic Quest for Oil, Money, and Power - Daniel Yergin with Peter Day. It's amazing how oil started... just for illumination. In 1870, John D. Rockefeller founded the Standard Oil Company and aggressively ran it to gradually erode the dominance of kerosene for illumination. Fall back to sleep until 8:00. Nice. Left-over spaghetti and fried egg for breakfast. Bath. Check NPR in San Antonio to see how the marathon is going. Elvis is at the starting line.
