Hurricane Irene is now known to have killed at least 44 people. Actually, I watch the news for 3 hours, and I fall back to sleep. I see past the alarm. Oiks! It's 6:45. Potato stew for breakfast. Quick shower. Turn on Stephanie Miller. Interesting interview with Rose Ann DeMoro about the movement to Tax Wall Street To Help Heal America. Tax 'em! Tax those bastards!
Walk up to Whole Foods to pick up a cookie. At work - Breaks for Pam, Charmaine and Kyle. Low numbers for most groups. Wow! Mike Sheehan visits us. A blast from the past. 11 - Olivia's lunch. All of the 8 Starfish are here. We play on the playground. There's a lot of resistance to move inside today. A couple more short breaks. 1 - Charmaine's lunch. I watch 3 Dolphins sleep while Patty takes a couple out to the playground. I clean up the room a little. 2 - Over to Starfish again. The kids sleep late today. They wake up around 2:30. Streetcar to d'town. Up to my place to change my shoes. Walk down to Westlake Center. Lots of tourists... especially from Japan. They love the Mariners. It's Ichiro's Town! Likewise, Japanese culture is an integral part of the Seattle. Watch Heroes - Cold Wars and Exposed. Sylar gets a little rough with Luke, but Luke was begging for it.

The Luke/Sylar road trip was the only real high point of the 3rd season. No news tonight. Chili spaghetti for dinner. Watch movie - Star Trek.

The residents of Abu Salim Emerge To Rebuild.
I stick with DW-TV until 4 AM. Then I turn on Bill Press. He talks about Dick Cheney's book. Burrito for breakfast. Turn on KOMO News. Cool and cloudy today. We'll be back in the 80's for the weekend. I like this report - Crews Break Ground On 'Greenest Building In The World'

Up to Kaladi for some coffee. Back to my place. Watch Heroes - Building 28. Sylar and Luke set out on a road trip in search of Sylar's father, with Nathan's agents hot on their trail - but Nathan's grand plan hasn't escaped the attention of the Feds. Sylar saves Luke's ass.
The road trip sounds fun. But Sylar tells Luke sternly, "Don't try to be friends with me." Grrrr.
Walk up to Whole Foods to get coffee and Pink Grapefruit Italian soda. Walk up Terry the rest of the way. Breaks for Leisha, Pam, Sharon and Cristin. I out on the playground with various groups. 11 - Olivia's lunch. Cristin and I hang out with the 7 Starfish. A couple tired, cranky kids. We go inside early to change diapers and eat lunch. Kenn set up lunches. Thanks, Kenn. 12 - Anne's lunch. Only 5 Seahorses. Easy-going lunch time. 1 - Toni's lunch. I sit with Mr. O at nap time. 2 - Cristin's lunch. Three kids are up already. We play with snap blocks. It's fun. Streetcar to d'town. Drop off stuff at my place. Listen a little bit to The World. A wealthy Chinese businessman hopes to build a luxury eco-resort at Grímsstaðir á Fjöllum. It's beautiful place in Iceland... and very chilly. Report - Iceland Real Estate.
Walk up to Harvard and back. Just a 20-minute walk because I'm tired. Watch Star Trek Voyager - Author, Author. Potato stew for dinner. Movie - MST3K: Swamp Diamonds.

We head out to the playground. We feel some drizzle. 11 - Olivia's lunch. Hang out with the 6 Starfish. The kids keep playing outside. Tanja is lunch prep. 12 - Anne's lunch. The Seahorses are eating lunch. They settle down easily for nap time. 1 - Toni's lunch. I sit with Mr. O. He's fighting his fatigue. He's tired. He finally conks out at 1:55. 2 - Over to Starfish for Cristin's lunch. Sam is awake already. I take him to the lobby to play. It's ironic. zaterdag 27 augustus 2011 Up at 5:11. Turn on MSNBC about Hurricane Irene. Hurricane Irene made landfall Saturday morning at Cape Lookout as a Category 1 Hurricane. This poor buy is at Virginia Beach from WAVY Ch 10.
Red bean chili for breakfast. Keep watching coverage of the storm on WNBC Channel 4 in NYC. As New Yorkers brace for Hurricane Irene's impact, city officials are once again reminding residents living in the lowest-lying "Zone A" areas to evacuate by 5 p.m. and that all MTA transit services are now suspended until Monday. It's cute to watch the couple get married in Long Branch, NJ live and on-air, and they escape before the storm comes.

Shower. Wander around the d'town on a beautiful sunny summer day. I drop by the King Street Station. Are they all done with the renovation? I am not impressed.

Shop a little at Uwajimaya. Train back to d'town. Turn on Channel 4 again. The mayor speaks from the emergency command center. The anchors talk about how to explain what a hurricane is to children.
They are considerate to discuss this subject. New York City is already experiencing heavy rain and steady winds at 39 mph. I can't take our gorgeous weather for granted. I take my radio and turn on the Seattle Sounds vs Columbus Crew game on my walk around shady First Hill. The Sounders explode! 4 goals in 40 minutes. "They're tearing Columbus asunder!" 3 goals in the first 17 minutes. That's a Seattle record.

GOAL SEATTLE! It's Lamar Neagle! The Federal way native collected a pass from Mike Fucito, outmuscled Rich Balchan on the challenge and powered a shot past goalkeeper Will Hesmer. 1-0 Sounders. PENALTY KICK! GOAL! Balchan whistled for a handball in the box and Mauro Rosales step up. The Argentine drills it past Hesmer for his fourth goal in six games. It's 2-0 Sounders. GOAL SEATTLE! It's Neagle with his second of the day in the 21st minute! He hammers in a cross from James Riley at the far post. Sounders up 3-0!

The Sounders keep piling on! The chants from the Seattle fans are thrilling. Watch more news about Irene. WNBC and WABC address the situation with much attention. I'm going to fall asleep before Irene hits New York City. I see the intense rain falling in Times Square.

Toast and a fried egg for breakfast. Watch some KOMO News. Cover Hurricane Irene. The weather in Seattle couldn't be more different. Clear skies this morning. See from the KOMO Cam.
Lots of worried people in New York City about the storm surge. The mayor will close the subway system. Citizens are trying to prepare. WNBC - Channel 4 shows a graph of the Spaghetti Lines of the hurricane's path.
I love Newsy News. Astronomers Discover A Diamond Planet.
Walk through the convention center to 8th. Wow! So many people wanting to get in for Penny Arcade Expo. This could be an interesting weekend.
Walk up Westlake to work. The Seahorses are getting ready for their first field trip. The parents want to help, too. I'm not going with them. Have fun, kids.
10 - Charmaine get an hour of planning time. Kyle covers for Patty's time. We take the 4 Dolphins out to the playground. It's getting warm, so I mist the kids with the water bottle. They love it. 11 - Cristin's lunch. The 8 Starfish hang out on the playground. Olivia and I take the kids inside. Sharon does lunch prep and gives me a break. 12 - Anne's lunch. I eat my pizza my the kids. There's pizza up in the staff lounge. Nice treat. The Seahorse seem a little hyper, but they conk out for nap time. 1 - Toni's lunch. Nice quiet hour. 2 - Olivia's lunch. The Starfish are starting to wake up. Cristin gets out the purple play-doh. Streetcar to d'town. Walk through 5th Avenue corridor up Union Square to my place. There are 60,000 attending the PAX. Major impact on my neighborhood. There are people everywhere. Are these guys buzzing on 5 Hour or what?

Report - The National Hurricane Center issued a hurricane watch for the Outer Banks of North Carolina early Thursday as officials calculated what they need to do if Irene becomes the first major hurricane to strike the East Coast in seven years. Walk up Westlake to work. I have 45 minutes of open space. I'm out on the playground on this spectacular day playing with the Sea Otters, Starfish and the Moons & Stars. Cristin gets a short break, then I cover for Olivia's lunch. I'm going to O. D. on sunshine and fresh air. One of the kids is suffering from major jet-lag from a trip from Germany. She's crumbling. We make inside in time for lunch. Nap time for Seahorses and Starfish. The kids sleep well. Some of the Starfish wake up early. Olivia reads them Where Is The Green Sheep? (One of my favorites.)

Cowabunga Wave Sheep! Walk up Mercer to the International Fountain. Kids playing in there.

#15 bus back to d'town. Change chothes. Short walk around First Hill. I exchange the shade of the trees for the blasting sunshine here and there. Double dose of Rachel Maddow. Yesterday and today. Shrimp and spaghetti for dinner. Watch Star Trek - The Galileo Seven.

Watch the 75-minute 1954 USA science fiction film, consisting of three consecutive episodes of the TV series "Rocky Jones, Space Ranger"MST3K - Crash Of The Moons. Actually, they start with a clip from General Hospital with Roy Thinnes. Whew!
Walk up to Denny and through Cascade to work. I spend most of the day with the Seahorses. I cover for Anne's planning time. Sharon is subbing for Toni. We have a little free play. Then the kids paint the walls outside with water. When the Starfish come out on the deck, they take the paint brushes. We have our playground time. I take a couple inside for diapers and lunch prep. Kenn is doing lunch prep for the Starfish. He tells me about a cool radio station in New York City - WFUV 90.7 FM. I need to check it out. Lunch and nap time are easy-going. I do a lunch break for Charmaine. The Dolphins are waking up. One-by-one, Patty and I feed them lunch. We talk about the new Bright Horizons at 1275 Mercer. We both agree that it looks rather tacky from the outside. Is it really open? My last hour is with the Seahorses. When the kids wake up, we play with the colored pencils. I color with them. I tell them that I'm going to show my picture with my mommy... and I will. Ta-dah!
Walk up Belmont to Rudy's. After all this time, I get a buzz cut. I need to wait 15 minutes until it's my turn. The shop is a little busy. Back to my place, I play podcast of The World. "We say publicly to Glenn Beck, 'Please stay out of our business.'" Yes, please. And No, thank you. Report - Glenn Beck’s ‘Restore Courage’ Rally in Jerusalem. Short walk around First Hill. I use the shady tree-lined avenues. Hi, Frye! Seattle's iconic Sorrento Hotel hosts a Block Party in the hotel's courtyard. I feel a little under-dressed wearing only a tank-top. What are you serving, Sorrento? Some chilled ones on this hot day? It's 82° but it's comfortable with a little breeze.
I feel sorry for Texas after hearing this NPR story - Austin Plagued By Record Heat Waved. In honor of the people dealing with the long, hot summer... I will watch The Long Hot Summer with Ben Quick, Roy Thinnes. He's kinda cute.
He's pretty much shirtless through this episode. I didn't know that Roy Thinnes was such a TV stud. OK. Rice and stir-fried eggplant for dinner. Watch Hardball - How Did They Know?

I like Ron Reagan as guest host. I wonder if he'll take the 3 o'clock slot at MSNBC. Wander around d'town. It's official Borders in Seattle is closing. Giant poster declare 70% Savings. Zig zag through the Denny Triangle up to work. I'm extra for the Seahorses. They have a paint project going. It's nice to be extra when there's a paint project. Anne does a short circle time before going outside. I cover for the Bookmobile, too. Set up lunches for the Starfish. 12 - Anne's lunch. I hang out with 6 Seahorses. 1 - Up to Trailblazers for Jessica's lunch. 100% nappers! Nice quiet hour. But I believe I'm listening to Tool's Sober in the nap time music. I am just a worthless liar. / I am just an imbecile. / I will only complicate you.
2 - Back down to Starfish for Cristin's lunch. One is awake already. Olivia is working with tissue paper in a gift-wrapping project. Lots of Seahorses are awake, too. Busy time. Turn on The World and listen to the latest news from Libya. Report - Rebels Capture Gaddafi’s Compound. It is unclear what happened to Gaddafi and his family. Wow. This looks like a compound. A compound has high walls and multiple uses....it was fortified. It had defense structures. It was an arms storage facility as well. So, it is a compound. It's called Bab al-Azizia. Impressive.
Streetcar to d'town. Train to Uwajimaya. Get some eggs, cod, rice and SCB. #255 bus tunnel back to my place. Drop off stuff. Turn on KOMO News. I guess that there was an earthquake while the Mariners were in Cleveland. Report - Earthquake Felt During Indians Game. I called Lisa to ask her about affects of the earthquake. She didn't feel it. 11 - Olivia's lunch. Oy! We have got a biter! Inside, we settle down for lunch. Over to Seahorses for their lunch time. They're good eaters. Mr. O goes right to sleep when he lays down on his mat. One-by-one, all of the Starfish go to sleep. Quiet time. The Starfish sleep well, too. Walk up to Whole Foods to pick up salad stuff. Drop off stuff at my place. Turn on KOMO News. The team returns to Earth with a piece of technology that allows them to see icky alien creatures everywhere, and must attempt to contain the problem when it spreads beyond the base.

Spaghetti, beet salad and h-b egg for breakfast. Turn on Stephanie Miller. They're keeping track of Rick Perry. Among protesters in New Hampshire yesterday, a child asked Rick Perry if he believed in evolution. Perry answered that it was a theory and that Texas teaches both evolution and creationism and lets kids decide which is right. The curriculum in Texas teaches evolution. So, Rick Perry doesn't know what he's talking about.

Watch Stargate SG-1: Abyss. Ascended friend - Daniel Jackson - appears in this episode to help Jack out who's in big trouble.
Take 7th Ave. on my way to work... listening to KUOW - Weekday: Washington Distilleries. Hey! You want them, we've got them.

I'm fascinated with the discussion about how to make vodka and gin. At work / 10 - I'm signed up for the Wildflowers. It' a danse party. I'm glad that there are only 6 kids. There's enough room to party down with the Diggity Diggity Dog song. Slap on the sunscreen; it's sunny outside. We head out to the playground. 11 - Cristin's lunch. I'm with the 6 Starfish. We forget the time. When we head inside for lunch... Whew! They're already set up. I play the German CD for the last time. (It's overdue for the library.) It's perfect. 12 - Anne's lunch. Lunch with 5 Seahorses. 2 leave early. 3 kids for nap time. 1 - Charity's lunch. She's subbing for Toni. The kids sleep, and I'm bored. 2 - Olivia's lunch. Now, I'm not bored. The Starfish wake up one-by-one. Clean up the nap mats. Change a couple diapers. Sit down for snack. Cheese sandwiches. The kids deconstruct the bread from the cheese. Walk up Capitol Hill to B'way. Down to #404. I pet the cats, and we watch Despicable, Me. Wow! Is this Blue-Ray? Pretty clever movie. FREEZE RAY!
Back at my place, I watch a little of KOMO News. Just a mixed salad for dinner. Watch Stargate SG-1: Shadow Play. SG-1 arrive on Jonas Quinn's home planet - Kelowna. They meet with Hale, Dreylock, and their leader, First Minister Velis. They offer medicine and other non-military technologies, but the Kelownans won't settle for anything other than military tech.

donderdag 18 augustus 2011 Up at 6:30. I slept in. Hash browns and fried egg for breakfast. Turn on Stephanie Miller. She and David Bender have fun on air. Watch Stargate SG-1: Frozen. The Antarctic team investigating the site where the second Stargate was found discovers a frozen Ancient. The team starts to suffer the effects of a deadly virus and while she helps to heal the infected, it becomes clear that it's taking a toll. This is an eerie image.
Streetcar to work. I feel like I'm fighting a cold. Anyway, I have a fun day with the kids. I start the day on the playground with the Sea Otters. Spend time with the Seahorses and Starfish, too. Miss T. wakes up from her nap crying. Teething pains. The rest of the kids sleep through the noise. Turn on The World. I hear Secretary Of State Hillary Clinton at least four times today about this. Report - World Leaders Call For Syria’s President Assad To Step Down.

Up to Whole Foods to pick out some good stuff - beet salad, fried tofu and some fruit. Oh! Look at the nice young people waiting for Deadmau5. I bet they'll have a fun night.
