vrijdag 29 november 2013

vrijdag 29 november 2013 Up at 2:22AM. Watch Doctor Who - Castrovalva. The Doctor has regenerated but it hasn't gone well. He's mentally unraveling and needs a place to rest beyond outside influences. Unfortunately the Master has laid a trap for the TARDIS that denies the Doctor undisturbed recovery time. The Master gets mean with Adric. Back to sleep until 8:16. Watch MSNBC Live with Thomas Roberts. He's one of us. Cool.
Cup O' Noodles and a fried egg for breakfast. Train to d'town. Buy another pair of Wrangler jeans. Train home. Still, lots of people travelling, going to SeaTac. Home. Watch the epic movies on TNT - Clash Of The Titans and Gladiator. People should know when they're conqueredMaximus: My name is Gladiator. Spike TV is showing the Star Wars Trilogy. You have interfered in our affairs for the last time.

donderdag 28 november 2013

donderdag 28 november 2013 I was hoping to sleep in more. Up at 3:46. Watch World News Now. Report about the Butterball Turkey Hotline. KOMO News - Google Glass ban at Capitol Hill restaurant stirs privacy debate. Fired eggs and tater tots for breakfast. Watch Smallville - Doomsday and Savior. Big battle, but poor Olsen... He doesn't deserve to die. Trip into the city. The walk up to the station is creepy... like Halloween. Thick fog. The blackbirds are in the trees cawing at me. Train to d'town. The mailbox is stuffed with mail. I bump into a neighbor in the elevator. He's doing a gig at the Millionaire's Club this evening, he says, for Thanksgiving. Back to Cat City. A fun app for cats. Chase the spider, Pete! Thank you, BBC America - Star Trek The Next Generation... marathon.

woensdag 27 november 2013

woensdag 27 november 2013 Up at 2:43. Travelling day. With that said... Planning your holiday travel. I don't need to get dressed. I slept in my clothes. Heat up some left-over coffee. Dan drives me to the airport. It snowed last night, but the roads are cleared. The TSA gives me the Express Line. That's really nice. I only need to take out the metallic things out of my pockets. Breakfast at the airport's Arby's - Ham Egg & Cheese on Sourdough. Boarding is easy. It took 12 minutes to de-ice our plane. Off we go. Tracking our flight. I think we're flying our Coshocton, Ohio. I love Flight Aware.
Land in ATL. Luckily, my connection is right next door. From gate #19 to #18. #1929 to SeaTac. (1929 - a year marked the end of a period known in American history as the Roaring Twenties after the Wall Street Crash of 1929 ushered in a worldwide Great Depression.) I have 10 minutes to spare before the flight starts boarding. Call mom and Michael. "I'm on way way." Lots of college students... mostly from Coastal Carolina University. I'm sandwiched between two student-boys. Arg! There's no Wi-Fi on this 5-hour flight. This Boeing 737-900ER is rather buggy with the entertainment screens as well. Michael picks me up and we head to Cat City. Watch MSNBC while the guys pack. A taxi picks them up. Watch Doctor Who: Logopolis. The Doctor ponders the meaning behind the mysterious white figure.

Shower and shave. On HBO Zone - Dragon Eyes. How far can I get through this 4.4-rated movie?
Take a walk around town. Love you, Fort's Tavern.
Good bye nice, comfortable bed. I'm going over to the Trinter's tonight.
Lisa and I go to Fort's. I love their liver and onions. They made it special for me. Thank you! Lisa's place is like a little B&B. It's quite cozy. Time to settle and rest.
Big day tomorrow.

maandag 25 november 2013

maandag 25 november 2013 Doctor Who at Midnight. Episode - Warriors' Gate . The TARDIS lands inside a White Void and the console sparks. Smoke pours out of K9. Why did they go off course? Adric says, "Maybe it's the Time Winds."
Only 5 hours of sleep. Downstairs to watch some local news. Only 25°F in Wellington (feels like 12°). Monday morning movie - Imaginary Heroes - on HBO. Mom is a little curious about my movie. She sees Sigourney Weaver. For me, it's Emile Hirsch.
Pizza and h-b egg for breakfast. Take a walk up to Kelly Street is the sub-freezing weather. Just a few breezes. When I get back, I really want some nice, hot tomato soup. Check KOMO News. Thanks for stopping by. Report - President Obama arrives in Seattle for two private fundraisers. (Video from last night.) Find a Hulu vid - Rick Steves' Europe - Poland Rediscovered: Krakow, Auschwitz and Warsaw. My nephew recently visited Poland.
Dad and I watch Anthony Bourdain's show. He makes our mouths drool with the foods of Montreal and New Orleans. Chat with my sister. Coming back from their trip. They stopped in historic Coshocton and visit Roscoe Village. Perch and Walleye with potatoes for dinner. Watch Troy on SyFy. This is the saddest scene for me. Hector kills a boy - Patroclus - thinking it was actually Achilles.

zondag 24 november 2013

zondag 24 november 2013 Up at 4:34. Downstairs. It's chilly in the Florida Room. Turn on Starz Edge and watch It Might Get Loud - a documentary on the electric guitar from the point of view of three significant rock musicians: The Edge, Jimmy Page, and Jack White. I am riveted to the sofa. I love the jam sessions and the personal stories. I wish that I had guitar lessons instead of piano lessons when I was a kid. The guitar is more portable than a piano... and sexier. Next... With mild interest, I start to watch Oz The Great And Powerful. I doze in and out of sleep... until the finale. The penultimate battle between good and evil. Oscar uses ingenuity and his arts of illusion to fight the evil sisters. Fish and chips for breakfast. Mom recorded Vanishing On 7th Street for me last night. Poor Hayden Christensen. What's going on!? It's strange to watch this dark movie with the whiteness of snow outside. This Sony Bravia KDL-46EX523 does a good job in this environment. My brother and his wife drive down to join us for a little pizza party. Dad likes Italian sausage and mushrooms, and so do I. We chat and catch up with stuff. They have to go to school tomorrow, so they leave early. TBS is playing the classic Wizard Of Oz. Full circle from this morning. Oh, those crazy tornadoes! Always whisking us to Oz.

zaterdag 23 november 2013

zaterdag 23 november 2013 Up at 3:23AM. Restless. Downstairs to watch Doctor Who: The Power Of Three. I want to know what happens to the little black cubes. The cubes start to activate, scanning the world's information networks and acting in self-defence. Of course, that's when I conk out. Rory's hair looks great! Sunrise 7:28. That's when I get up. Watch a little news. This story affects me. Because of the 50th anniversary of JFK's assassination, everyone is digging up every tidbit of information. Hear what happened at Boston's Symphony Hall in 1963. Chili cheddar omelet and potatoes for breakfast. Walk around Wellington. It's getting chilly. Back to the house. I notice mom's unique set-up in one of the window sills - Amish dolls, a little Santa and two little polar bears.
Research on the companions of Doctor Who. Adric is a companion for the 4th and 5th Doctors. His first appearance is in Doctor Who: Full Circle. Played by Matthew Waterhouse.
Trail bologna and macaroni salad for lunch. I'm excited. It's snowing... on and off. And it's the global simulcast of Doctor Who - The Day Of The Doctor Making myself comfortable here... Next movie - The War Of The Worlds. The scene at the Athens - Hudson Ferry... Oh, the humanity!
We order fish dinners from Fort's for takeout. Perch and fries for me. Together, dad and I watch that vulgar, crude, and occasionally scandalous movie - Blazing Saddles. He actually stays awake thru it.

vrijdag 22 november 2013

vrijdag 22 november 2013 Up at 7:28. Ham and bean soup for breakfast. Watch KOMO News. It will be a somber day today as we pause and remember John F. Kennedy. A ceremony of silent is being set up at Dealey Plaza in Dallas.
The cover of the Dallas Morning News - It Happened In Your Hometown. Cold, wet, windy weather expected for JFK ceremony. Click > JFK50 special section cover image.

Everything changed: Five decades later, a nation still mourns John F. Kennedy

The eternal flame burns at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C., 50 years after the assassination of President Kennedy. In remembrance, a wreath is being laid at the memorial today.
It's Seattle in Ohio. Take a walk in a misty drizzle. It's 50 degrees. It's a short walk around the NW quadrant of Wellington.
It's nice to get some fresh air. Back to watch MSNBC's coverage. It all makes me feel quite somber. Andrea Mitchell interviews Tom Brokaw about his documentary “Where were you when JFK died?” I need a break. I turn off the TV. Dad is resting in the Florida Room. I sit at the other end of the sofa. The TV is on, but it's on mute. Best way to watch FOX News. TV - mute. Close the eyes. It's quiet. I doze off. Mom is making dinner. Ham and mashed potatoes. Watch movie - Ted. It's raunchy and full of antics... Perfect! Thank you, Seth MacFarlane. I love the fight that John and Ted have in the hotel room, and then they make up.

donderdag 21 november 2013

donderdag 21 november 2013 Up at 2:40. Downstairs to watch Cruel Intentions. I've never seen this movie. Sebastian dies. Uff da. Thank goodness. Airport 1975 bores me back to sleep. Awake in time for KOMO News. Ha! Costco labels Bibles as fiction.
Egg salad sandwich for breakfast. Mom goes out for groceries. I do a small load of laundry. Watch movie - Life of Pi. Richard Parker - the tiger - scares me to dead. Pi manages to tame him. The nurse comes to visit dad. She sorts out his meds and fills the pillbox. Ham sandwich and tomato soup for lunch. Watch The Eagle. Esca is thrown into the arena, and Marcus saves his life, making Esca his devoted slave. Well, they argue sometimes.
Marcus and Esca ride up to Hadrian's Wall. A Roman soldier says, "See you in the Afterlife." The lovely and talented Channing Tatum. Mom heats up the chili again for dinner. Wow! Dad can put it away. Pharmaceuticals from Mercy Hospital are delivered. I sign for it. The delivery guy is Mike. Mikes of the Universe unite! Back to Doctor Who... The Pandorica Opens. The Doctor to Rory: The universe is big. It's vast and complicated and... ridiculous and sometimes, very rarely, impossible things just happen and we call them miracles, and... that's a theory. Nine hundred years, never seen one yet, but this would do me. Open up and say aaaaaah. Like in the Life Of Pi. The story is... Gopikas tells Yashoda that Krishna has eaten a lot of dirt and mud. Yashoda scolds Him and then asks to show His mouth. On seeing the mouth, Yashoda is shocked as she can see the whole universe in His mouth.

woensdag 20 november 2013

woensdag 20 november 2013 Up at 6:05. Just lay in bed for a while. I cant go back to sleep. Downstairs to the Florida Room. Watch CNN. Tragedy. Virginia State Senator Creigh Deeds’s 24-year-old son, Austin, was turned away from a psychiatric hospital because of a lack of beds on Monday—one day before he allegedly stabbed his father during an argument and then fatally shot himself. Accident with the coffee pot. Coffee spilling out everywhere. What a mess! Clean it up. Try again. Baked beans, h-b egg and tomato for breakfast. Project: Hard Boiled Eggs. Watch a review of the assination of John Kennedy on CNN. Then, live from the Arlington Cemetery, Obama and Clinton Pay Respects at Kennedy Gravesite. Who's the grandson of John F. Kennedy? Jack Schlossberg. The son of Caroline Kennedy, he looks a lot like him.
Time for some fresh air. Take a little walk around. There's a train.
November 21, 2059. A fixed point in time: Bowie Base One, the first human colony on Mars, was destroyed and its crew was killed.Continue the Doctor Who marathon in honor of the 50th anniversary with The Waters of Mars. Mom makes some Grandma Miller style chili for dinner. Hmm. Yummy. Garlic bread on the side.
Lay on the sofa to digest. At last... Doctor Who: The End Of Time.

George Zimmerman, acquitted earlier this year in the death of Trayvon Martin, was arrested after an incident at his girlfriend's home - 911 call: 'You put your gun in my freaking face' It's so BRRRRR outside. Channel surfing. Perfect! Off to Tahiti, I go. It's a whole 40° outside, and the sun is shining a little. Take a walk to d'town Wellington. Lunch with Lisa. My sister has some Palak Paneer. Yummy. Hang out with the dogs - Chuck and Fred. Chuck likes spicy leftovers. Walk back. My brother-in-law intercepts me and drives me to the house... a whole block down. maandag 18 november 2013 Midnight movie - There Goes My Baby. Dermot Mulroney, Rick Schroder and Noah Wyle take you on a funny and heartening trip back to the turbulent sixties in this riveting, infectious comic drama (Variety) that effectively blends nostalgia and political awareness (Leonard Maltin). Four out of 5 stars from me.

zondag 17 november 2013

zondag 17 november 2013 Up at 7:10. Watch yesterdays Up With Steve Kornacki. Steve thinks that Obama bought himself some time, but I doubt it. With website glitches and unexpected cancellation notices, Obama and the Democractic party are put on the defensive and raise questions about ObamaCare. I still love Up Against The Clock. Susan Page, Shawna Thomas and Robert Costa are on the panel.
Susan Page is reigning champion. To Hawaii and beyond: Marriage equality’s past and future. Steve asks an important question. When is a red state going to vote for gay marriage? We have so much spaghetti. More spaghetti carbonara for breakfast. Sunday morning movie - Home Of The Brave. The film was shot in Morocco and in Spokane, Washington. I can't finish the movie. I find trail bologna and potato salad for lunch.  My folks watch Obama's conference with little interest on Fox News. I can get the NBC version on my computer - 'You deserve better': Obama offers fix for canceled health insurance plans.
Lay on the sofa. Conk out while Fox News is blaring in the kitchen... and Clash Of The Titans roaring in my ear buds.
Delivery for dinner. We order some spaghetti with meatballs from East Of Chicago Pizza... but no pizza. How ironic. Lisa visits and we chat. Mom and I watch X-men: First Class together on Fox HD. Mom is intrigued.
