woensdag 30 september 2015

woensdag 30 september 2015 Watch France 24. I love the international weather report. Even in Ushuaia, Argentine. It's still hot in Los Angeles. Concerns for California.
California In 2040: More People, More Heat. More wildfires, more floods. The Pope is firmly on the side of the world's climate scientists. We know that the Earth is warming and that mankind is responsible for a substantial portion of the temperature rise. Time to catch up with David Pakman. I'm on my way up the steps to Freeway Park. Bump into a drug deal. Oy! Total surprise! I don't know what to do. I'm stunned. They let me pass. Jeezus! I have had enough! Enough of these syringes littering my neighborhood! Time to take back that park over the freeway. TOO LATE It's lost. Lost, Lost, LOST. I don't know. I'm not going back home the same way. I wish that I had a phaser.
Back at my place. Watch Star Trek - The Omega Glory. Responding to a distress signal, Kirk finds Captain Tracey of the U.S.S. Exeter violating the prime directive and interfering with a war between the Yangs and the Coms.

dinsdag 29 september 2015

dinsdag 29 september 2015 Midnight - The Walking Dead. It's been an emotional rollercoaster. Is it prophetic that Carl reads Wolf Fight? Wrapping up Season 5. Conk out for a couple hours. I'm up in time for Stephanie Miller. Hay, there! HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you! It's such a wonderful surprise to Steph that Carol Burnett calls to offer her best wishes and an interview. Up to Social Services to update my situation. Lots of people in the lobby, but I am processed rather quickly. Some money is coming to me, thank goodness. Something in the window on 17th.
Robert Reich, my old friend, has a thing or two to say about our economy. Ever wonder why Americans pay more for Internet, airplane tickets and medicines? Do you want to know more?

One of my favorite episodes of Deep Space Nine. All of the characters are on Earth. And Jake has a baby moustache. "Colored people on the Moon!," Jake scoffs. Far Beyond The Stars.
Benjamin dreams himself into the reality of the black civil rights movement in New York of the 60s of the 20th century, where he is named Benjamin Russell - editor of a sci-fi magazine. He gets in trouble with openly racist policemen.

maandag 28 september 2015

maandag 28 september 2015 Watch Self Help. Eugene is telling everyone he's on a very important mission. Now it's an obvious lie used to enlist continued protection. There is No Cure.  Need a break from The Walking Dead.  Watch France 24.  I want to know how Journée Sans Voitures went. Parisians and tourists basked in the sunshine on Sunday as they strolled, skated and cycled around the city on the first car-free day -  Paris, A Day Without Cars. Watching the Super Blood Moon on Montmartre. Formidable! The sunshine beckons. It's a 40-minute walk down to the Sculpture Park. I used to be quicker when I was younger. Hello Father and Son.
I take my time in Belltown... mostly because my back aches. I'm schlepping along like an old man. Here we are. 2231 - Second Avenue. Bedlam Coffee. Would you join me for an Animal Cracker Latte?

zondag 27 september 2015

zondag 27 september 2015 Up at 2:18. Noise wakes me up. Watch France 24. BONJOUR, NEW YORK! Three blocks on Manhattan’s busy Broadway were blocked off to make room for the tourism, fashion and food fair, housing food and drinks tents. It's Best Of France 2015. Wine tasting? NYC Francophiles delight as Times Square turns French. President François Hollande, who is in New York for the UN General Assembly, will attend the event this afternoon. I wish I could go. Hmmm... Paris Versus New York. No choice! I will always love Paris. Paris, je t'aime Paris is for lovers. Soon, into the film, I watch my favorite segment. Il faut que j'y aille! Nice walk up to Queen Anne. 62° and blue skies. A rainbow greets me at the Int'l Fountain. It smells good over at Festa Italiana, but I don't have any money to get some food. Walk over to Mercer Street. It looks great! Very user-friendly with sidewalks and bike paths. Walk down Westlake Avenue listening to The Moth Radio Hour. It's about Boyhood. The Bears - Seahawks game is on 710 ESPN. A record number in Century Link - 69,002. Twelve seconds into the 3rd, Chicago kicks off, Tyler Lockett returns kickoff for 105 yards. Another record. Touchdown. The final - Chicago 0 - 26 Seattle. An astronomical phenomenon expected this evening - an overlapping lunar eclipse and supermoon. 'Blood moon' brings prophecies of end times. What to watch? The Walking Dead!

zaterdag 26 september 2015

zaterdag 26 september 2015 The Returned. It's perfect to watch in the dark. Haunting, eerie, mesmerizing. It's worth watching it again.
Four, 10 and even 30 years from the past... Dead people come back to life - flesh and blood (en chair et en os in French) - to try to find their homes and loved ones. Simon and Adèle were going to be married, but Simon supposedly killed himself before the wedding.
From the darkness of the Aravis mountain ranges in Haute-Savoie to the daylight of Seattle. Short walk around First Hill.

vrijdag 25 september 2015

vrijdag 25 september 2015 Midnight movie - John Carter.
Asleep for a little bit. Sorry, Steph. I'm watching the Pope's speech at the UN General Assembly. Pope urges global lenders to help the poor Morning movie - The Dairy Of Anne Frank (2009 TV mini-series). Such a moving, tragic story. They managed to hide from the Nazis for two years in the hideout. To watch it acted out... It's 57° and gloomy. Short walk up to Capitol Hill. Look at the news box. Duck Rider Heard 'Oh, No!' Before Crash That Killed 4. Can you imagine being there? "All of a sudden the duck bus swerved across our lane and hit into another tour bus," said Brad Volm, a visitor from Philadelphia who was driving an SUV involved in the collision. "I got out of my car and there was just bodies just everywhere, just people lying in the street."
Just a little random thing from the past - JUICE ME! Kyle! Speak!

donderdag 24 september 2015

donderdag 24 september 2015 NBC Special Report: Pope Francis meets John Boehner, addresses Congress. Rapturous applause as the Pope opens with "I am most grateful for your invitation to address this Joint Session of Congress in 'the land of the free and the home of the brave'."
In comments that could antagonize Republicans, Francis endorsed President Barack Obama's efforts on climate change and rebuilding ties with Cuba after more than half a century of estrangement. Give those bozos a good scolding! Nice day for a walk. Up Olive Way to Capitol Hill. Hey! Rufus Wainwright is coming to town.
Hang out at the CHPL with my new iPad Air 2. Back to my place and turn on KOMO News. A major accident on the Aurora Bridge.
Two Killed In Crash On Aurora Ave Bridge. Ride The Ducks have suspended operations everywhere. (Those obnoxious Ducks!)  And that bridge is dangerous with its narrow lanes!  Lots of ambulances.  (If you ride to the hospital in an AMR, you'll get a big bill.  Vultures!) Now it's 4 dead. Uff da. I need to re-group. I haven't seen this since a Thanksgiving party way back in the 80s. A movie which I picked up from the library - Eating Raoul. A crazy movie for a crazy day. A black comedy film about a married couple living in Hollywood who resort to killing swingers for their money. Robert Beltran as Raoul.
He was a naughty character before Voyager. Look for Ed Begley Jr. and Edie McClurg. Good night, Seattle... World.

woensdag 23 september 2015

woensdag 23 september 2015 Midnight - MUDD, THE FIRST.
You offer us only well-being. Food and drink and happiness mean nothing to us. We must be about our job. Suffering in torment and pain, laboring without end. Dying and crying and lamenting over our burdens. Attendants, aides or helpers - to serve. Every man serves a master. Something mechanical and natural. Qui est le fou? Moi. Content. Je suis le fou. Nu moet ik ophouden. Dáág, ik vind je zo fijn!

dinsdag 22 september 2015

dinsdag 22 september 2015 The Way Too Early In The Morning Movie - The Neanderthal Man (1953). Then France 24. How has a film about chess become a must-see? FRANCE 24's reporters speak to actor Tobey Maguire about the film Pawn Sacrifice. On ENCORE - Tobey Maguire on playing chess great Bobby Fischer. Also on the program, we look at how Belgium's megastar Stromae is trying to break America. Formidable! On the FASHION report. They talk about Dame Vivienne Westwood's show at London Fashion Week. Westwood and her models walk down the street to the venue, with signs that read “Austerity is a Crime” and “Fracking is a Crime.” Politicians R Criminals. Justin Bieber is interviewed by Clique. Subtitles in French. Wednesday, September 16th, Justin Bieber was in Paris. They interview the young world-famous singer at his hotel. Double feature - Robinson Crusoe on Mars. Stranded on Mars with only a monkey as a companion, an astronaut must figure out how to find oxygen, water, and food on the lifeless planet. (But there is life!) Turn on A Prairie Home Companion. Good show! I love the riff on Trump. Garrison Keillor honors JD McPherson by telling him, "You should play Precious out in the streets." I feel the same way. It's a personal hit for me.

vrijdag 18 september 2015

vrijdag 18 september 2015 Midnight movie - The Social Network.

Poor Eduardo Saverin. Watch France 24. A story about an another ego - The Program Lance Armstrong's story made into blood-doping thriller.
Take a walk around the town with my radio. I love this segment on The Takeaway - Thanks, Internet. Finally, The Life Of Brian. 1979 British comedy tells the story of a young Jewish man who is born on the same day as, and next door to Jesus Christ, and is subsequently mistaken for the Messiah. And remember... Always look on the bright side of life.

On Ring Of Fire - In the United States, we have yet to enact a single piece of national legislation to address climate change. dinsdag 15 september 2015

dinsdag 15 september 2015 Up at 5:50. Turn on Stephanie Miller. Bernie Sanders brought his message of political revolution to the unlikeliest of places Monday: a gathering of more than ten thousand students at the Christian, conservative Liberty University. He was characteristically blunt, acknowledging up front the differences in their worldviews. But it looks like he got their respect. Charlie Pierce of Esquire’s Politics Blog talks about Bernie Sanders’ Liberty University speech. Bernie Sanders Gives Liberty University a Lesson in Christianity. I need to renew my my ID. Three day overdue. Walk down to 205 Spring Street, Seattle, WA - WA State Licensing. $56 for a little plastic card?

maandag 14 september 2015

maandag 14 september 2015 Up at 2:50am. Pete watches France 24 with me. I don't think Pete likes the news.
Tragic. A group of people including Mexican tourists were mistakenly killed by Egyptian security by an air strike. A strange Film in French - Class Of 1984 - 1983 [Film Complet] [HD] It's dubbed... and R-rated. This film is a lot of trashy fun. The actors are all on great form with Timothy Van Patten playing a lunatic, psycho student. Mr. Stegman vs Mr. Norris.
Getting ready to leave, I always ask myself, "Do I have to go back to Seattle?" Michael drives me up to the bus stop at Cordata. The Boltbus is 30 minutes late, but I get to sit up front. Cool! For 20 miles, I see views like this... over the driver's shoulder.
It seems ominous to me, but I hear Aerosmith - Livin' On The Edge on the radio as we approach Seattle. The kid - John Connor - from Terminator 2 is in that mind-bending video.

Sunday, September 13, 2015

zondag 13 september 2015

zondag 13 september 2015 Midnight - BBC News. Read Quiet. Then Young Frankenstein. Ladies and gentlemen - the famous dessert scene with Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte. I got to sleep a little, but Pete wants my attention. Watch a little news. Need some air. I find a path. A path!
Back at the house. Play an old movie in Michael's collection - Slaughterhouse-5. Billy? Are you time tripping again?
My craving for Swimming Rama is satisfied at On Rice Thai Cuisine at 209 N Samish Way, Bellingham, WA. Service is quick.  Back at the house, we watch Interstellar. I love the robots TARS and CASE.

zaterdag 12 september 2015

zaterdag 12 september 2015 Happy Birthday to me! Spend the night in the mancave watching Star Wars. Blu-ray quality!
Just a little search on Mark Hamill. He was a cutie back then.
Google seems to know it's my birthday. I got cake and goodies.
Michael wants me to take a pic of his messy lawn mower before he cleans it. OK. I take a #540 bus at 12:34 to d'town Bellingham.
WTA busses seem easy to use, and I can chose the seat I want. I'm used to an energetic downtown Seattle. In Bellingham, I see people having brunch, but I feel alone on the sidewalks. Cross the Pickett Bridge to see Whatcom Creek  and the Maritime Heritage Park below.
I want to explore, but I see a lot of stairs. I don't think that I could handle all those steps. Visit the Bellingham Public Library. This place seems busy. Bus back to the house. Turn on A (repreat) Prairie Home Companion - That Little Country Town. Guy Noir checks out up-and-coming country singers at the Bluebird Café. That's a pretty raunchy Guy Noir. I heard about Trump on Jimmy Fallon's show. Jimmy Fallon Impersonates Donald Trump While Interviewing Donald Trump. Pretty funny.

Walk down to Uwajimaya with all my stuff. Chap Chae for lunch. So yummy! Then I wait for the Bolt Bus.
We make good time to Bellingham. The Wi-Fi is working, too. When I get to Bellingham, I take WTA to the house. I did it all by myself. Too much stuff to lug around. Spaghetti for dinner. Meat lovers special sauce.

donderdag 10 september 2015

donderdag 10 september 2015 Midnight sci-fi / horror movie - Infini.
I'm going to be awake anyway... It's bloody and violent. Eventually, it's turns philosophical at the end. Biological contaminants? I'm routing for the team - especially Whit Carmichael - to clear inspection. Next - Star Trek: Balance Of Terror.
Doze off for a little while, but I'm up for Stephanie Miller. Get me Lisa Bloom! Lisa - attorney and legal analyst for Avvo - talks with Steph about Kim Davis and religious freedom limits. It's 66° and sunny for my walk up to HK. A cloud of dust obstructs the sky.
I'm fed up with the construction! The noise, the dust and diesel fumes... the excavators, the drilling, the dirt-haulers and the jack-hammers. In fact, it's noisy all the way up Westlake to South Lake Union. I'm happy to see my old friends at HK. They greet me with hugs and smiles. I visit the Infant Room to get my baby fix. I feed a bottle to a baby. (I still have the knack.) My friends are trying to recruit me. "We need you!" Uff da! Listen to Here & Now on my radio. I love to hear The Songs Of Summer (2015). I like all of them. Fall Songs 2015? This song goes with my Introvert / Extrovert book - Quiet. Ladies and gentlemen... Saint Motel. Planning for dinner? How 'bout some liquefied corn for dinner?
I may be from Ohio... but I'm not corn-fed. Perhaps wine-fed. Watch 2001. Love live Arthur C. Clarke.
