Walk up to Denny to catch the streetcar to work. Busy day. I meet the Starfish out on the playground for Pam's planning time. Inside, we play with the sensory bins. Breaks are a little different today. It's confusing to me and some people other people. My break is earlier than usual, but I manage to tell Kyle about the imminent demolition of his apartment building and the whole block. "Kyle, it's in the news!" Developers: Proposed 43-story tower means big profits for Seattle. It seems awkward to bust into an interview for a candidate for Executive Director... for only 15 minutes. I need to go do Kenn's lunch break. The 5 Seahorses are going down for naps. The usual challenges. Back to Sea Otters for Ina's break. It's really noisy next door, but the kids sleep through it... for a little while. Then they start popping up one-by-one. Streetcar to d'town. D'town is busy. Walk up Westlake to work, but I wandered off the right path on Valley Street. The street is all torn up, so I yelled at a worker. "You got to get this done! I'm tired of this!" Five months in a row with jackhammers and backhows. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Not a great way to start the work day, but there are donuts and chocolate in the staff lounge. Nice. Join the Seahorses for Kenn's lunch break. I read It's A Tiger for their circle time. It's their obsession. We spend some free-play time in the "Mad Room" as Kenn likes to call it. I take 3 of them to run on the deck. I hope to wear them down for a quiet nap time. It works. In the Sea Otter classroom, it's a mixed bag. Some of the kids want to goof off. Some of them are co-operative. It works out... eventually. Streetcar to d'town. Back at my place. Watch Power Rangers Wild Force - Sing Song. OMG! It's a musical episode! They're singing to a dear zord. Streetcar back to work for a meeting. Main topic - Security. Suspicious packages. Notify a supervisor! Do not "taste" a suspicious package. Thank you. And don't forget... Wash your hands. What a pleasant evening. I catch the sun setting as walk home. Passing by busy restaurants - Flying Fish - for example, I feel hungry. We admire the blossoms on the trees. It looks like Spring is really here. Inside, we paint with some hot colors - pink, yellow and orange... then with cool black. The kids read books while I set up lunches. Check NBC News about the DOMA arguments while on my break. Someone seems to have the same idea as Al Sharpton - A More Perfect Union. Back to the classroom. The kids easily go down for naps. Over to Seahorses. These kids are tired. It's a magical nap time for everyone. Oops. It's raining a little. Streetcar to d'town. There's excitement in the air as The High Court Takes On Gay Marriage. Youths hold banners during a vigil organized by the School Without Walls GSA in front of the US Supreme Court in Washington. Caprese omelet and red skinned potatoes for breakfast. Watch Revolution - Kashmir. Trivia - The episode is named after a song by Led Zeppelin. Played while Miles and Sebastian meet in Miles' hallucination. Walk up Westlake to work. The Seahorses take advantage of the empty large playground. The Rainforest Kids are out somewhere. The Seahorses come outside. I join them as Maine takes her lunch break. We take a little water break before we go inside for lunchtime. I do a silly-improv-sort-of-circle-time with the kids. "Ol' McDonald has an Elmo." They seem to like it. Over to Dolphins for an easy nap time. Seahorses go down easily, too. At last back to Sea Otters. I admire Donald Crews' books. Flying is a favorite. Walk up to Westlake to Whole Foods. Pick up some stuff from the salad bar and a little bottle of Uncle Matt's orange juice. Drop off stuff. Change clothes. Short walk around First Hill - up to Gay City, turn, over to First Hill Park and through Freeway Park to my place. NPR is a blast. It's all about... Watch Politics Nation. I'm with the Dolphins most of the day. A new kid is having a tough time, but he seems comfortable with me. He conks out on my shoulder and sleeps a good hour. The others go outside while he sleeps. I set up lunches. The kids are not very hungry. One refuses to eat at all. Naps are easy. Out to the playground with the new kid. He likes the blue dogs and the toy firetruck... and things that fly in the sky. Up to Wildflowers for their nap time. They're playing Tracy Chapman. I used to listen to her all the time. Walk up Mercer to Queen Anne. #2 bus back to d'town. A tall, handsome, strapping, blond surf-boarder sits across from me. His shirt is wide open. Oh my! Back to my place. Turn on KOMO News. It is the warmest day of 2013 - 61°F. Terrible accident - 2 dead, 2 injured as car strikes pedestrians in North Seattle. Watch The Cycle. I love the IRS spoof.

Powerless aircraft plunge from the sky but their lights are still on. Walk up to Denny. Streetcar the rest of the way to work. I'm with the Starfish this morning as I give Pam some planning time. This group seems rather organized, but it's a Friday. They seem tired. Over to Sea Otters for lunch and naps. I ask one of the kids, "Which book would you like to read?" He says, very politely, "Little Tug, please. Thank you, Mike." We settle down for naps. They sleep well, but they wake up a little early. Walk up to Whole Foods to pick up some babaganoush, smoked cheddar, oysters and their lovely broccoli salad. Drop off stuff at my place. Catch up with KOMO News. All that snow this morning up in Snohomish County. Seattle gets nothing. Now the sun is shining. Take a walk. Over to 1812 - 8th Avenue - Stewart Market - to get a Powerball. $320 million jackpot. Wouldn't that be nice? Nice view from 5th & Westlake. Oh! There's a Chevy Spark... stuck in rush hour. Back to my place. Watch The Cycle. This is really something. Catch the streetcar at 7th & Westlake. At work, I snatch a couple blueberry pancakes from the morning snack. Yum. I'm with the Sea Otters while I give Patty some planning time.

Sea Otter Report:  We try to keep ourselves busy.  We puzzle with our puzzles.  We have "indoor bubbles."  We put on our fire helmets and stomp and romp to the firetruck song.  By special request, we play the Mister Darby version of B-I-N-G-O.  "OOOOOOO!"  It's nice that the sun comes out for our playground time.  We have "outdoor bubbles" which fly into the wild blue yonder at 50-MPH.  The Dolphins join us in the fun. The kids love that firetruck song. They played it only 3 times yesterday. After lunch, we settle down for naps. A couple put up a little defiance, but everyone sleeps well... past 3 o'clock. Streetcar to d'town. Drop off stuff at my place. Strange enough... I don't need a jacket for my walk to Capitol Hill. What's Simian Mobile Disco? Well, PREPARE TO GO APE-S%&T WITH SMD tonight at Neumos. No, not me. I'm 56-years-old, and my hips are achy. Sorry. Back home. Catch up with Rachel Maddow. That stupid war!

Watch movie - Green Lantern. Pretty brutal training. I have the news in my earbuds on my walk to work. So, T. J. Lane receives a judgement. Report - Ohio school shooter, wearing 'KILLER' T-shirt, sentenced to life in prison. He seems to smirk as he listens to the judge during sentencing in Chardon, Ohio. Defiant to the end. I am so full of questions as I make myself to work. I wonder if T. J. is a "shock-and-awe" kid. How do we solve problems? No problemo... We make some Shock-And-Awe. And on the 10th anniversary of the Shock-And-Awe invasion of Iraq. This kid was 7-years-old when we started that war. How would he process it through the years? I'm already sleep-deprived... And with a sad and heavy heart, I plunge myself into a busy day with these kids. We muddle through somehow. Yep. This is a challenging day. Walk home in the rain. Une salade niçoise for dinner - a mixed salad of tomatoes, olives, tomatoes, topped with tuna and anchovies and dressed with a vinaigrette. Yum. Watch France 24. I always love the Culture Report - High Kicking Cancan, Deadly Art, And a Showbiz Showjumper. Watching The Debate, I am reminded of Dominique de Villepin's impassioned speech against war on Iraq at the United Nation. Iraq War: Ten Years On.

Walk up 6th Avenue to the Seattle Center to meet the St. Patty's Day dashers. So many kilts... Thank you, Northwest Junior Pipe Band for adding some atmosphere. #1 bus back to d'town. Back to my place. Listen to A Prairie Home Companion. I love the football game with U.U.U.U. The Unitarian Universalist United University - The Emersonians. And WILCO! Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars as a teenage kid who discovers an alien conspiracy in The Outer Limits - Something About Harry. I need to watch Star Trek Enterprise - Cold Station 12 again. There's something about Smike and Malik. The Enterprise arrives at Trialas IV, the settlement where Soong raised his children, where there is only one person: Udar. He was left there about one year ago by his brethren because he was not as strong and intelligent as the others. "I would only slow them down." It's very cool to hear the bass booming through my speakers as the Imperial Fleet cruises by the Hoth System.
