vrijdag 14 augustus 2009

vrijdag 14 augustus 2009 Up at 2:20 am. My computer turns itself off to get updates. Turn on BBC News on KUOW. Doze off again. The trumpets for NPR - Morning Edition wakes me up. H-b egg and spaghetti with Tom Kha sauce for breakfast. Switch to Stephanie Miller. They talk about CNN's Decision To Keep Radio Hosts Off Their Shows. Steph is grumpy about that. Also, a lot of people call into the show about Whole Foods' CEO's Comments About Obamacare. Hal Sparks visits for the 2nd hour to liven things up.

Hal is right. Health Care is a National Security issue. Bath. Walk up to Kaladi for some of Jeremiah's coffee. I tell him, "Happy Friday!" Walk down to Whole Foods. I know... I know. I like my Whole Foods. They have good food. They support the Gay Community in Seattle. But that's where I get my 2nd breakfast. Sit down in the atrium to eat. It's Sarah's last day at Hutch Kids. There's a nice spread upstairs for her. 10 - Breaks starting with Kris. I do some Seahorse diapers. Help take the Starfish out to a damp playground. 11 - Lunch set-up for Seahorses and Starfish. Bella is really sensitive today. Lots of crying. They seem to like their big pillow.

12 - Pam's lunch. Her kids are sleeping. They wake up one by one. I feed Ivy some lunch. We do a "stand up" diaper. 1 - Olivia's lunch. Maya and Yarrow wake up and I do their diapers. We visit the Dolphins. 2 - Kechelle's lunch. Only 18 Wildflowers. That's a lot to me, but they're all napping. Celeste needs me to get into the Starfish so she can meet with Anne. I leave at 2:45. Streetcar to d'town. Take a short walk down to The Olivian and over to Qwest Bell Plaza Builing through Freeway Park then back home. Watch Countdown with Keith Olbermann - The Healthcare Back And Forth Banter. Then Rachel Maddow - Even They Don't Believe What They're Saying. Then Weird Science - Switched At Birth. Salad and turkey sausage for dinner.

donderdag 13 augustus 2009

donderdag 13 augustus 2009 Up at 4:20. Listen a little to BBC News. Report - France And Germany Exit Recession. The French and German economies both grew by 0.3% between April and June. Good for them. They even talk about "The Angry Healthcare Exchanges In The US." The Europeans seems rather mystified with us. I don't blame them. Toast and egg salad for breakfast. Walk up to Kaladi for some of Jeremiah's coffee. His coffee always seems better than mine. Walk up Westlake to work while listening to Thom Hartmann. He asks us an interesting question, "How do we stop the sociopathic CEO’s from killing us?" Thom powerfully describes these CEOs as conscienceless sociopaths who have no empathy or affectionate feelings for humans... don't care if we die as long as they make $20 million/year salaries. He talks with “Mad as Hell Doctor” Dr. Paul Hochfeld and Adam Klugman. I guess that some doctors are Mad As Hell! And they are taking their show on the road. 10 - Breaks starting with Charmaine. The kids seem curious and distracted by my shirt - the smiling sun with some snow on his nose.

11 - Teresa's lunch. Piper is taking a nap. Stella seems to like me. She eventually conks out on her mat. 12 - Charmaine takes a 30-minute lunch, then I take my break. 1 - Pam's lunch. Ivy plays. I watch out for biting. I feed the twins at the same time. They don't seem very hungry. 2 - Patty's lunch. I take Alex and Wyatt outside. Alex enjoys being outside but Wyatt is hating it. Yes, Wyatt is happier in the classroom. 3 - Walk up to Whole Foods to get some anchovies and baby spinach. Take a short walk in the rain around my Freeway Park neighborhood. This is me at Two Union Square listening to Ron Reagan on the radio.

The trees are my umbrella while it rains. Back to my place. Spaghetti for dinner. Watch episodes of Weird Science - Lisa's Virus and Copper Top Girl. Poor Wyatt.

Someone brought a handgun? Oh my God! Chris Matthews has this guy - William Kostric - on his show.

Shower. How can I shower off this icky feeling I have about all this right-wing wacko craziness? Paris Hilton rides down the elevator with me. ATM some cash at HomeStreet. Walk up to Whole Foods and buy some of their egg salad. 10 to 12 - Planning time for Charmaine. Sarah covers for Patty, but she's reluctant to take it since her kids are new. Tilia conks out early. Caitlin takes a bottle from me. Evanan comes in around 10:30. It's a rough drop off for him, but I help him to calm him down. Nap for Caitlin. 12 - Charmaine's lunch. Evanan conks out at 12:25. Caitlin's folks visit and give her a little snack. Tilia refuses to take a bottle from me. Oh! Eventually, she takes half an ounce! 1 - Olivia's lunch. 6 Seahorses are sleeping. I beleive that this will be a quiet hour... but NOOOOOOO! Ben wakes up crying and wakes up his next door neighbors. Maya, Alexandra and Yarrow read books with me for a few minutes. Then we go out to the playground. It's warm and sunny now... after a cool and cloudy morning. 2 - Heather's lunch. She's subbing for Pam. Ivy won't take her bottle from me. The twins are sleeping. Ivy wakes up Paxton. I try to feed him lunch, but he just eats cheese. Harrison sleeps the whole hour. 3 - Streetcar to d'town. #11 up to Cal Anderson Park. Nice day. Walk down Pike to my place. Listen to The World. I enjoy the whole program. I like this story - Dream Of Afghanistan Water Polo.

The Speedo debate is a funny story, too. I guess that the Brits are not the biggest fan of the Speedo. Watch MSNBC News. Chicken Tom Kha soup for dinner.

C. which say "President Obama's daughters get healthy school lunches. Why don't I?" Looking back to the Summer of 1994. Mike and Kamen 15 years ago.

zaterdag 8 augustus 2009 Up at 6:00. Turn on KEXP. Bill McKibbon talks about Climate Change: Tipping Point on Alternative Radio. Then I hear Robert Glennon talking about Unquenchable: America's Water Crisis in The Sustainability Segment with Diane Horn. (I find out that Robert was on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart.)

Hot Pocket pizza for breakfast. I leave the apartment at 8:50. Walk through Freeway Park down to HomeStreet to ATM cash.

I almost get hit by a car. Walk down to University Street Station. A train is right there for me at 9:08.

Ride down to Tukwila.

Second breakfast at the McDonald's. Egg McMuffin - $2.59 and a coffee - $0.79. Take-Out total = $3.73. No TV today.

Train back to Seattle. Passing through Rainier Valley, the train stops at the Othello Station where I see The Sunlite Salon at 7129 Martin Luther King Jr Way S. Should I get my nails done? I get off at Columbia City where they're having Rainier Valley Heritage Parade. What a fun little gathering!

Admire the cute old homes up and down Edmunds and Ferdinand Streets. The train is there for me again. How lucky for me! Ride up to Uwajimaya. Get some Sho Chiku Bai sake. #101 bus tunnel back to my place. Watch various episodes of Weird Science - Seasons 2 & 3. I'm addicted! I love The Bazooka Boys. Chett has issues with Gary and Wyatt being naked together. NOT ME! Dead Can Dance is fun, too. Chett adores an ancient relative - Uncle Baldash - after a seance. I love the contrasts between modern times and 12th Century Scotland. Free Gary is a favorite for me. Lisa turns Gary and Wyatt into lifeguards "Baywatch" style. The boys look hot wearing those red swim shorts. Rice and Butter Chicken for dinner.
