maandag 14 januari 2013 Very restless night. Watch MST3K - Viking Women And The Sea Serpent. Waffles. Waffles! More waffles! A group of lonely Viking women (and one stowaway - Todd) assemble a ship from a kit and set off across the sea to locate their missing menfolk.
Then it's Star Trek - The Doomsday Machine. I love Kirk's decisive "Blast regulations ..." to Spock's "Vulcans never bluff" scene.
Beans on toast for breakfast. Turn on Stephanie Miller. The Rude Pundit calls in to talk about Hitler’s history of actually relaxing gun laws. Walk to work with Barack Obama's press conference in my ear buds. Report - Obama demands quick action to raise debt limit. Hang out with the Dolphins while Cristin takes some planning time. We read books, do art and head outside to the frozen playground. The kids last less than 30 minutes. The Sea Otters and Seahorses seem a little more hardy. Charmaine takes her lunch break. The kids want "Daddy Bubbles." We head inside to warm up. I set up lunches while Patty reads stories. Over to Starfish for Pam's lunch. The kids are going down for naps. A couple of them conk out right away. Back to Dolphins. One-by-one, the kids wake up from their naps. We snuggle one the sofa. My last hour - the Sea Otters wake up. They're not sleeping in. One has a fever. Walk up to the 500 Mercer QFC. #3 bus to d'town listening to NPR - All Things Considered. It happened 50 years ago. During his inaugural address on Jan. 14, 1963, newly elected Alabama Gov. George C. Wallace vowed "segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever." Drop off stuff at home. Short walk around downtown. Magnificent sunset - reds, pinks and magenta. Salmon salad sandwich for dinner. Watch news... maybe too much news. But Rachel Maddow has a powerful interview with David and Francine Wheeler who lost their six year old son Ben at Sandy Hook Elementary.
Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
They talk about the Sandy Hook Promise - to have open-minded discussions about a range of issues, including guns, mental health and safety in schools and other public places.
