vrijdag 25 oktober 2013 Up at 4:28. Watch KOMO News. Iconic neon Rainier 'R' returns to its historic perch. This brings a tear to my eye.
Spaghetti carbonara for breakfast. Turn on Stephanie Miller. Yay! Sexy Liberal is coming to Seattle! Michael Tomasky of The Daily Beast calls in to talk about the two sides of the Republican party. No Country For Old Moderates. Can't wait for elections next year.
Walk up to Denny. #40 bus to Mercer. I'm with the Sea Otter while their teachers take planning time. They seem to be celebrating Fall.
The Sea Otters are already outside... on the Infant Playground. They're having fun, but I can see that the kids are too big for the toys. The slide is way too small. But we chase bubbles and sing Row, Row, Row Your Boat. Inside, it's Friday Freeplay, but I take the kids on a tour of the photo collages. They eat well at lunchtime. Naps are easy. Up to Rain Forest. After coming back from a field trip, the kids are still trying to settle down for naps. Some are crying. The teachers stay to help them, but they settle down eventually. One of the non-nappers, Alex, shows me his Visual Dictionary Of Baseball book. He and others in the group are obsessed about baseball.
Streetcar to Denny. #8 bus up to B'way. Shop at the QFC. Good deal on some Jalapeno and Artichoke dip. #49 bus to d'town. A huge group of students from SCCC pile into the bus. Back home. Watch KOMO News and The Cycle. Hurricane Sandy, one year later.
I also like the interview with Chiwetel Ejiofor about 12 Years A Slave. 12 Years A Slave. A fictionalized adaptation of the 1853 autobiography Twelve Years a Slave by Solomon Northup, a free black man who was kidnapped in Washington, D.C. in 1841 and sold into slavery.
Stir fry rice and veggies for dinner. In honor of Mr. Chiwetel Ejiofor, I watch one of his films - 2012. He plays Dr. Adrian Helmsley. He's part of a worldwide geophysical team investigating the effect on the earth of radiation from unprecedented solar storms and learns that the earth's core is heating up. He warns U.S. President Thomas Wilson that the crust of the earth is becoming unstable and that without proper preparations for saving a fraction of the world's population, the entire race is doomed. Adrian Helmsley: The moment we stop fighting for each other, that's the moment we lose our humanity.
