dinsdag 10 december 2013 Up at 3:40. Watch WLS Chicago. What luck! They're showing President Obama's speech live. World leaders, South Africans honor Mandela. People cheer as President Obama, shown on a big screen, speaks to crowds attending the memorial service for former South African president Nelson Mandela at the FNB Stadium in Soweto near Johannesburg.
And it's 1° in Chicago. Is that right? Sorry, Chicago. Seattle - a balmy 34°. Smoked mussel omelet and toast for breakfast.
Walk up to Denny. #62 to Mercer. We seem to be short-staffed. I'm a little bit everywhere. The Dolphin teachers play Ralph's World again. I'm starting to admire Ralph's creative lyrics. Driving all the way to Minneapolis in my car. BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! Over to Sea Otters for a couple hours. Lunchtime is done. Some of the kids absolutely crash for naps. Over to Seahorses. The kids sleep while Pam and I talk about South Africa. Streetcar to d'town. Train to Cat City. Just to pick up some stuff that I left behind. Just stay to say "hi" and Michael drives me home. Stuck in a little traffic. Nice view of the skyline.
After living here for so many years, I am still bedazzled by our city's skyline. When I first arrived here, there was The Big Black Box, the Rainier Tower, the Bank of California building and the Smith Tower.
Reviewing the news... Tens of thousands join world leaders at a rainswept memorial for South Africa's Nelson Mandela, with Barack Obama hailing him a "giant of history". Egg salad sandwich for dinner.
