dinsdag 27 juli 2010

sick dinsdag 27 juli 2010 I call in sick last night. I watch a variety of shows on my laptop.

Switch to France 24. I listen to it - weather, news, sports and lifestyle. I can't go to sleep. Switch to MSNBC. Chris Hayes has a good report - Stop, Leak and Listen. Declan Walsh from the Guardian goes into the meaning of the Wikileaks. Burrito for breakfast. Turn on Stephanie Miller. I manange to sleep a few minutes. Shower. I'm tempted to go outside, but I'm still sick. Turn on today's Democracy Now. One of the un-reported top stories - Environmental Minister - Buyelwa Sonjica of South Africa - Critizes The US Senate for failing to pass legislation to cap carbon emissions.

Most of the show deals with the Wikileaks and the power of the information. Amy Goodman talks with the Editor of the Guardian on the Coverage of Afghan War Logs: the European Audience "Troubled More...by The Toll this War is Taking on Innocent People" They talk about WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange - his history and personality.

Switch to BBC News - World Have Your Say.

Good debate. People call it about the injustice of Tony Hayward... to be given a golden parachute while so many have lost their lives and jobs. People from Louisiana and Florida about their experiences. I doze off for a couple hours. Play some old music videos. Adam Ant. B-52s, Berlin and the Beastie Boys. "Fight For Your Right To Party!" Culture Club goes to the Argyle In Soho for fun.

Obi Wan fights with Ventress with light sabers.
Do not trust the lies of Dooku.

Next, I watch Andromeda - Forced Perspective. Captain Dylan takes Trance with him on mission to find parts for the ship. Suddenly, he is attacked by unknown assailants, who knock him out and drag him off. Dylan is being interrogated, accused of murder, terrorism, and conspiracy. He only gives his name, rank, and serial number, so his interrogators resort to torture.

Dylan's interrogators accuse him of planning the assassination of their leader and overthrow of their government. Dylan denies this, but is surprised when he is introduced to the leader in question, and it is a familiar face - enetri (the "Great Compass").

Meanwhile... when some people are in danger... Tyr is enjoying Beyond Good And Evil by Nietzsche.

Oh, my. That is love. I love a guy who knows a good book.

Dylan and Trance find Venetri's "clone lab" he has stayed alive for 300 years by making clones for "spare parts". Ew.

Alia wants to kill him, creating more drama in the palace, but Leto defends himself with amazing powers of speed. Salsa con Queso omelet for breakfast. Turn on Stephanie Miller. The Rude Pundit talks about his experience last week at The Rally for Economic Survival at the Cajundome. He went with his mom. After Stephanie, I play episodes of The Time Tunnel - Rendezvous With Yesterday and Devil's Island. The intro to the Time Tunnel project reminds me of the Krell complex in Forbidden Planet. They take a peculiar ride down 800 stories in this strange elevator.

Tony takes a time trip to the RMS Titanic.

Here is Marcel - a prisoner of the French penal colony Devil's Island - 1895.
Shower. Walk down to Convention Center Taco Del Mar to get my Monday Mondo Burrito. Walk through Rainier Square to the Garden Of Remembrance. I feel out of it. Back up to my place the same way. The WSCTC is busy. Wow... I'm sneezing all over the place. Play Weird Science - Wicked Wish. The story is a twist on the fairy-tale Snow White.

Oh, Wyatt. Hi, there. You're wrapped in only a towel, fresh out of the shower, talking with Lisa .
Wyatt's mom becomes wicked with jealousy. She wants to be the fairest in the land with the help of her evil, magic mirror.
Marsha and Lisa duel it out a la Sith/Jedi style.

Turn on France 24 to catch the Culture Report. They interview Edmund White - the author of City Boy. (An Ohio boy.) He describes his life - the life - of being gay in the 60's and 70's in Manhattan. He describes "the golden age of promiscuity" in his novel. He describes it as the only time in human history when people "were free to have sex when and how they wanted," because of access to birth control pills and before the advent of AIDS.

I feel that I am wandering into something of a parallel universe in the France 24 Sport Report. Two female sport reporters seem to assess the "potential" of a 20-year-old sprinter - born in Annecy, France - Christophe Lemaitre. Regardez!

Watch Hardball and MSNBC. I love it when Rachel chats with Ezra Klein. They talk about Why The Climate Bill Failed. They talk about our oil dependency and how the oil companies have weaved a web of influence. Ezra thinks that we're not going to solve the problem... ever!

Man in Pink: [singing] Whenever life gets you down Mrs. Brown / and things seem hard or tough / and people are stupid, obnoxious or daft / and you feel that you've had quite enough! / just remember that your standing on a planet thats evolving / revolving at nine-hundred miles an hour / its orbiting at ninety miles a second / so its reckoned / a sun that is the source of all our power / the sun and you and me.

I fall asleep while watching The Meaning of Life... but I wake up again... coughing, sneezing, runny nose. Oy!

zondag 25 juli 2010

zondag 25 juli 2010 Up at 12:20 AM. Watch "Lost In Space" Blast Off Into Space.

Cosmonium is a precious substance which could be found in Preplanis' crust. The miner Nerim blasted deep into the planet's core in search of it; acquiring several vials but at the same time causing catastrophic damage to the crust. Evidently as a liquid, Cosmonium has the power to bring objects to life- a vial accidentally smashed on Dr Smith's stone sculpture abruptly causing it to animate. Beware of the living statue monster. He wants your cosmonium.

Dr. Smith gives Nerim a vital component - A Truster Control unit. He gives a lame excuse: "It was a vagrant impulse." They almost don't make it out into space. Turn on BBC News. Switch to KEXP. Listen to Amy Goodman: Drilling, Spilling & Killing: From Oil Spills to Oil Wars. Listen to A Prairie Home Companion. It's a State Theater Combination Platter. Guy Noir confronts and angry mob of Canadians. I find an old clip of Larry's King's interview with Michael Moore about Capitalism: A Love Story.

I like how the film cuts back to the past "golden days" of American capitalism following World War II.

"A lot of people got rich — and they had to pay a top tax rate of 90 percent." Moore doesn't explain that he was talking about "marginal" tax rates. PolitiFact says that Moore's point is valid. The top marginal tax rates paid by the richest Americans were far higher in the 1950s than they are now.

The lecturer attempts to demonstrate that the wealth of Americans is relatively equally distributed. However, there are at least four serious errors in his argument.

Speaking of the moral thing to do, for example, Dr. Jonas Salk selflessly gave away the patent of the polio vaccine for the public good. ("Would you patent the sun?") Watch movie - The Life Of Brian. Brian explores the joys of conjugating the irregular Latin verb: Eo.
