donderdag 31 december 2009 Up with alarm. Turn on AM 1090. It's a Best Of Stephanie Miller. Toast with hummus for breakfast. Check my time zone map to see who is celebrating New Years.

Hooray, Auckland!

Bath. Streetcar to work. 10 - Break for Kenn. We take the 2 Starfish outside. Then I'm extra for Patty. She has 5 Sea Otters by herself. We share the Bike Room with the Rainforest Kids. Thanks Andy and Margot. We needed to get out of the room. I set up lunches for Dolphins and Sea Otters. Kenn is plugged in for helping us. 11:30 to 12:30 - Patty's lunch. The Sea Otters are early with their naps. Alex and Austin conk out in the Bike Room. The others eat lunch. Naps are easy. Why are they so tired? 12:30 to 1:30 - Pam's lunch. Pax has been at the doctor's and comes back at 1. Teresa gets him to sleep by rocking him. Austin wakes up and has lunch. I sit with him and we both watch the rain pour down. I take him over to the Tree Frog room. He enjoys their toys and the climber. We go back to the Dolphins room. Paxton is still sleeping but the others are awake. Austin's dad drops by to give him some Tylenol. Austin is sad that he gets only one swig. We read books, do bubbles and build towers. Streetcar to d'town. Walk up to M Street to get some things. Back to my place... Turn on BBC News. New Year 2010 Celebrations Around The World. Curry chicken and noodles in peanut sauce for dinner. Switch to CNN and watch Yemen 101.

woensdag 30 december 2009

woensdag 30 december 2009 Up with alarm. I have a super long, 40-minute meditation. Turn on USTREAM for Hal Sparks. He has Happy New Year in Chinese in the corner. Xin Nian Kuai Le YouTube - Say "Happy New Year" in Mandarin Chinese.

Someone in the chat box: Hey, Hal Sparks. Why are you wearing a shirt? Tee hee. Tunafish salad on toast for breakfast. Bath. Walk up Westlake to work. I say Xin Nian Kuai Le to Anne. She says, "Xie xie." (Thank you.) I am Teresa for most of the day. The Dolphin group consists of Austin, Harrison, Nolan and Paxton. Paxton is having a miserable day (again). Low frustration level. Crying on and off... mostly on... all day. Maybe bubbles will help. It helps for 2 minutes. Maybe some fresh air will help, but it doesn't. The group has a meltdown on the playground. Back inside, we relax with some books. Austin seems to like A Treasury Of Classic Poetry. (I read it for myself during nap time.)

Early lunches and naps. Sharyn is with me to help. It's quiet in the Dolphin room, but Evanan wakes up very upset. When Austin wakes up, I take him down to the Bike Room. His parents drop by to take him to the doctor (to check his weight). Back to the Dolphins, I see Nolan and Harrison are awake. I take them to the Bike Room. We join Anne with her kids Alex and Evanan. She notices how many words Evanan knows and uses. She thinks that he's ahead of the curve. So, I turn to Evanan and ask him, "Are you ahead of the curve?" (To a 1-year-old.) He responses with a definite "Da!" Wow! Anne and I both exclaim in unison, "That's "yes" in Russian." At 3, I take them all back to the classroom. Walk down Westlake listening to The World on my radio. I enjoy The Decade To Come segment. Twilight Of The Totalitarians - article written by Anne Applebaum - is interesting. She says that the next decade will be bad for authoritarian regimes except one: China. Back at my place. Change clothes at my place. Walk up Pike to QFC, turn on B'way, down University through Freeway Park to my place. Turn on the radio (again)... I hear a story about a Dead Mother And Her Son Alive After Christmas Miracle. Holy crap! Finish off my tunafish salad and rice for dinner. Watch MSNBC News. There's Countdown without Keith Olbermann.

dinsdag 29 december 2009

dinsdag 29 december 2009 Up at 1:50. Turn on BBC News. Top story - British Anger At China Execution. Doze back to sleep eventually. Dream that Hal Sparks is giving me a guitar lesson. Up again with alarm. Egg salad and rice for breakfast. Turn on USTREAM to watch Hal Sparks. He talks about the Underwear Bomber. Later on, it sounds like he gets into The Tao Of Politics.

Hal says we should invest ourselves in the political process. The Tao of politics? Here is the short version: Be tolerant, leave the people alone, and let things take care of themselves. Good show, Hal.

Bath. Take my little Samsung up to Kaladi. Jeremiah is playing some mellow electronica stuff. Hang out for a while at the shop checking the news and sipping my coffee. Back to my place. Take out the recycling and check my e-mail. My sister - Lisa - sends me something rather philosophical.

Repeat After Me

I WILL NOT

complain about my job.....

EVER AGAIN!!
Streetcar to work. I'm not sure if my FlexPass will work anymore on the streetcar in 2010. I'm confused. 10 to 11 - Cover for Patty's DAP meeting with new hires. Four Sea Otters do an art project - crayons on paper. I draw a little Bear In A Square. Evanan is not impressed. Teresa has a paint project next door with the 3 Dolphins. I help with the clean up. Teresa seems a little flighty today. Whatever. 11 to 3 - Extra for Dolphins & Sea Otters. I don't see Pam today. It's ok. Our numbers are low. I do lunch prep. The Dolphins are falling apart, so they have lunch and naps early. I also help Evanan go to sleep. No struggle with me. He seems to prefer my help. Austin wakes up after an hour. I take me down to the Bike Room. We're joined by most of the infants from the Infant Room. Wow! They are a big, busy, mobile group. 3 - Streetcar to d'town. Train to Uwajimaya. The place is very busy with shoppers... getting supplies for New Year's Eve, I suppose. Among other things, I get sushi ginger - Amasu Shoga. I discover that it goes well mixed with vodka. I love reading and watching the Huffington Post. Great post today!

Switch to Countdown With Keith Olbermann - Whackjob Jamboree. With Sarah Palin, Gov. Mark Sanford, Joe Wilson, Orly (Taints) Taitz and ultimately with Glenn Beck. This is so much fun!

Keith's imitation of Glenn cracks me up... again! Such a great impersonation!

The fastest train in the world. Short walk to HomeStreet to ATM some cash. Back to my place for more Hal and to make my own coffee. Headlines in Seattle Times - More Office Buildings To Be Vacate Next Year. Commercial real-estate insiders say 2010 could be as bad, if not worse, than 2009 for their industry. And more open space is on the way. Let them eat real estate! I'm wondering when this speculation and greed will end. Since my breakfast was so early this morning, I pick up another breakfast at Whole Foods. I'm hungry. Up to Dept. of Transportation to get a new FlexPass - $45 cash - for another quarter. 10 - Breaks for Dolphin teachers and Rainforest teachers. David wants to play baseball with me on the playground. 11 - Lunch prep for 5 Seahorses and Starfish... combined. We have low numbers. Mats and lunches are done in 20 minutes. 12 - Patty's lunch. It's a slow-paced lunch with only 3 Sea Otters. Charmaine is here with me, too. I do the diapers while Charmaine cleans up the lunch mess. 1 - Charmaine's lunch. Evanan goes to sleep without a fight. Beforehand, we relax together and read books. He seems to really like Bear In A Square. It's very quiet at nap time.

2 - Jessica signs me up for support for Trailblazers & Explorers for their nap time. She just wants to work on some things. Walk to my place. Drop off stuff. Up to M Street Grocery to get some juice and chips. Read some stuff from Huffington Post - The TSA Is Going Crazy Again. Frisking babies and not allowing passengers "to read anything" is, of course, a ridiculous response to the terrorism. MSNBC News talks a lot about Northwest flight 253 and security issues. Passenger Daniel Huisinga: 'I Was Sure I Was Going To Die' Whew! Tunafish salad on toast for dinner. Watch movie - Star Wars: Attack Of The Clones.

Don't jump! But we come to learn that the big guy is invincible.

And Dr. Nobel After Fargo triggers a device from the Cold War era, the race is on to shut it off before it starts a world war, but the only solution may lie in the depths of a demented scientist's mind.

Watch Star Wars - The Clone Wars: Children Of The Force. Then over to SyFy for Stay Alive. The answer to the mysterious death of their old friend lies within the world of an online video game based on the true story of an ancient noblewoman known as the Blood Countess. I don't know why I watch such mean movies. Later, I watch Star Trek.

Stay inside the nice warm apartment.

There's a Spider-man marathon on FX in the evening.

Snack a little on my Thai food. Take a walk to Westlake Center. Hi! Window ad for Bodies. D'town is busy with shoppers. Nice vibe.

Browse through the philosophy section at Barnes & Noble. Hmmmm. Teach Yourself Postmodernism. Very interesting to scan through it. Are there no new ideas to be invented? Are today's ideas really just borrowed from previous times? Postmodernism says this is so, and it's one of the hottest philosophies of today.

I'm tempted to buy the book, but I don't. I bump into my neighbor on Pike. "What are you doing wearing shorts?" "(!)" "I defy the weather," I reply. It's chilly but not that chilly. It's nice in the sunshine. Back to my place for a few minutes. Up to Michael's and Gregg's to get the keys. Pet the cats for a little bit. Get some booze and juice. I like Hal's interview with Igor Volsky from the Wonk Room - Reasons Not To Kill The The Senate Bill.

Bath. Make my own coffee. Streetcar to work. 10 to 12 - Planning time and lunch break for Patty. Only 4 Sea Otters. It's just me and them - Evanan, Wyatt, Caitlin and Tilia. A couple of them seem really fascinated with containers and lids - putting the lids on and taking them off - over and over again. Patty helps me take them down to the Bike Room. We mingle for about 5 minutes with the Rainforest Kids. Then we're alone. They're not used to having the Bike Room to ourselves. They seem a little lost, preferring my company. I hang out for only 5 minutes. Back to my place for more Hal. Walk down to Century Square. Streetcar to work. 10 to 11 - Breaks for Reneé, Jessica, Andy and Kathy. Obama, American Medical Association Praise Legislation. I hear Sen. Lindsey Graham is being an A-hole again. Graham accused the Obama administration of giving "bribes" to Democratic Senators in exchange for their votes, calling it "seedy Chicago politics." The rain lets up. Up to Whole Foods to get a snack. Walk up Westlake to work. Spend most of the day with the Seahorses. 10 to 12 - Planning time for Olivia. Charmaine subs for Kris. I notice a very cute dad (and his wife) are getting a tour by Nancy. zaterdag 19 december 2009

zaterdag 19 december 2009 I sleep in... 8:03! What's going on with me? I'm usually the insomniac. Cup O' Noodles for breakfast. Send a couple e-mails. Up to Kaladi for an extra cup of coffee. Jeremiah tells me that he needs a couple doppio espressos this morning to get going. Drop off movies at Blockbuster. I am getting a little drizzle on me. Down to Westlake station. On a lark, I take the light rail to SeaTac to see what it's all about. A lot of people seem to be taking the same lark. Check out this guy...

No this guy... I am totally distracted by this guy boldly displaying this thing. What the hell? What does it mean? Where does fun die? The guy is cute, too.

This guy is actually using the train to get to the airport and fly somewhere. I need the airport just to pee, but a lot of people need to fly for the holidays. "Where fun comes to die" I guess that it's one of those infamous slogans at the University of Chicago. I googled it.

I admit that I'm eves-dropping on some guys around me who are talking enthusiastically about the expansion of the light-rail line to SeaTac. They talk about many transit systems. Eventually, I turn on my radio to listen to NPR. NPR is boring. The conversion - over there - is more interesting. Coincidently, we get out together and walk up to Uwajimaya. I just want to get some nuts at the store before I head home. But one of the guys asks me how I like the train. "I love it," I replied rather plainly. (The little boy inside me is going... "Yeah, yeah, I love the train!") These guys do a blog - the Seattle Transit Blog. At home, I check it out. Turn on Rick Steves' program. He talks about International Christmas Traditions. Walk up to Whole Foods to get some yellow curry chicken, dip and salad. The drizzle is getting heavy. Play some Star Trek - TNG: Time's Arrow and Encounter At Farpoint.

They also talk about the travel aspects of Copenhagen. Report - Copenhagen And Holiday Travel. Voyage, Voyage! Let's go to Copenhagen! It's sounds like a place for me. Switch to Ron Reagan. I love the mail bag... reading e-mails from listeners. One goes... "Is Joe Lieberman a DICO - Democrat In Caucus Only?" Joe Lieberman - DICO of the Senate. Sure! Does Joe Lieberman feel the heat of a thousand white-hot blazing suns on him? Rice and sausage for dinner. Watch Star Trek, starting with The Tholian Web.

woensdag 16 december 2009

woensdag 16 december 2009 Up at 5:10. Turn on AM 1090. Listen a little to Bill Press. Bill is denied a Congressional media credential. That's crazy! He has reported on Capitol Hill since he came to Washington as co-host of CNN's "Crossfire" in 1996. He reports on what's happening in Congress, three hours a day, from the studio on Capitol Hill. Then Stephanie Miller is in a huff about the compromises on the Health Care Reform bill. Joe Lieberman = douche. Left-over sushi for breakfast. Bath. #101 bus tunnel down to Uwajimaya. Get some Sho Chiku Bai, Thai tea and stir fried chicken. #41 bus tunnel back to my place. It's really rainy. Drop off stuff at home. Another bus trip - #43 - up to Capitol Hill. The rain lets up and there's blue sky. Walk around Cal Anderson Park down to Benson's to get a Mega. Back to my place to dry off. Turn on KUOW. The Conversation talks about the First Hill Streetcar line. All the plans are on PDF. Randi Rhodes is on at 1:00. Love her! She asks about Hadassah Lieberman. I agree with Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.): "Snowe? Stupak? Lieberman? Who left these people in charge?" he said. "It's time for the president to get his hands dirty. Some of us have compromised our compromised compromise. We need the president to stand up for the values our party shares. We must stop letting the tail wag the dog of this debate." Joe Lieberman needs to have his eyes forced open - like A Clockwork Orange - to see what America is dealing with.

We're IN CRISIS HERE, sir! Watch episodes 7, 8 and 10 of The Tudors - Season 2. Henry is smitten with Jane Seymour and appoints her a lady-in-waiting to Anne, who is none too pleased. In the finale, Anne faces execution. What an intense scene.
