woensdag 9 december 2009 Up at 1:41... but there are no grinding pipes this morning. Turn on BBC News. Interesting story about Umberto Eco's exhibit at the Louvre - The Infinity of Lists. Then they interview the author of Crude World: The Violent Twilight of Oil. They ask an interesting question: "What would a world without the black stuff look like?"
We can go 100% renewable? Wouldn't that be nice. The UN Climate Summit goes into its third day. I manage to doze off again into a light sleep. Up before alarm. Turn on Stephanie Miller. I listen to more of her madcap adventures of Steph and her dogs (and their digestive problems), the apartment, the car and Chris squatting at her house in L.A. I love it. Maybe Hal Sparks can cheer her up. Yakisoba and tofu for breakfast. Bath. According to KOMO, it's 18° outside, and we broke a record low for this day. I think that the heat is kaput in our building, too. Streetcar to work. How fun! The Trailblazers & Explorers are celebrating Backwards Day. Today, they're doing art under the table.
Some kids are wearing pants and shirts backwards... Someone is even wearing their underwear backwards.
The kids think of interesting ideas for this day - sleeping under their mats. Nate thinks that we should nap before lunchtime. (Kenn thinks that Nate might pee in the sink and wash his hands in the toilet.) When I go down to do a break for Olivia, I see that the Seahorses are drawing on top of the table. How radical!
11 - Charmaine's lunch. I set up lunches while the Sea Otters play in the Bike Room. It takes the whole hour to set it all up. 12 - Teresa's lunch. The 6 Dolphins finish lunch. Kenn changes diapers while I clean up the lunch mess. Naps are really easy for these guys. 1 - Up to Rainforest kids for Margot's lunch. I sit with Catherine while she spins on her mat. I don't think that the kids went outside for exercise today. Andy gives me his coo-coo expression. It's probably been a crazy day for the teachers. 2 - Down to Sea Otters for Patty's lunch. Five are napping... for up to 5 minutes, then Wyatt wakes up crying. I can calm him down, but he doesn't go back to sleep. Walk up Westlake listening to The World. They do various reports about activists staging creative demonstrations at the climate change summit in Copenhagen. Stop by Whole Foods to get some Teriyaki chicken at the hot bar and few things at the salad bar. Brrrrr. It's 64° in my apartment. The heat kicks on at 5:00. Turn on Ron Reagan. He interviews someone from Media Matters. Once again - today - The Washington Times advanced discredited attacks to assert that Kevin Jennings is "unfit to serve as a senior presidential appointee." Rice noodles and Teriyaki chicken for dinner. Watch movie - Frida.
