When the Wildflowers came out, Andy yells, "Stand firm! Hold the line! Keep the big playground!" So, Darnell and Patty use the small playground. Julian is funny. Charmaine says, "Anyone with a baby sister - Bela - can go to the playground." And Julian short-circuits and goes "Ain! No!" 12 - I'm extra for Dolphins. I'm glad to help them out. It's such a busy hour. I do the diapers. Andy cleans up the lunch mess, and Kenn settles the Dolphins down and reads books to them. 1 - Tanya's lunch. Up to Moons & Stars for quiet time. donderdag 14 mei 2009 Up at 4:16. Turn on BBC News. Report by BBC team from the Arctic about how fast the ice is melting. Relief as Arctic quest concludes. Rest in bed listening... and thinking about Kenn's story about the police... Man seriously injured in arrest in Belltown early Sunday wasn't involved in a crime.
Look at what they did! It's raining a lot. Turn on Stephanie Miller. She's all revved up about the Detainee Photos - Obama Seeks To Block Release. Omelet on toast for breakfast. Bath. Up to Kaladi for coffee. (No Jeremiah.) Rain lets up. Yay! Drop off my little Samsung at home. Walk up Westlake to work. A little drizzle on my way. Breaks starting with Charmaine. Snack is somewhat late - English muffin with rhubarb jelly. Hang out with the Starfish and Seahorses to give Jessica, Kenn, Sharyn and Justine their breaks. It's rather chilly out there but no more rain. 11 - Lunch prep for Dolphins. There's lots of help today. 12 - Charmaine's lunch. Andy cracks up his kids with his tricks. 1 - Leisha's lunch. Via een sfeervol steegje tussen de torens van Gent komt u binnen in de karaktervolle Brasserie Pakhuis. U wordt er meteen overweldigd door de enorme ruimte die de sfeer ademt van de voormalige opslagplaats.
Sounds like a yummy restaurant. Verweldigd = overwhelmed. Use Google Earth to look at these places.

Rice and chicken for dinner. Watch movie - Superman Returns.

woensdag 13 mei 2009 Dream about a drunk man taking my camera apart. Up with alarm. Listen to BBC News. They talk about the Caste system in India, and how some Dalits (untouchables) may win in the election. Turn on Stephanie Miller. Lots of wacky right-wingers call into the show. Interesting interview with Rev. Scotty McLennan about his new book - “Jesus Was a Liberal: Reclaiming Christianity for All.” Spaghetti with fried egg for breakfast. Bath. Take my own Orange Pekoe tea on my walk to work. 9 to 11 - Planning time for Elaine. Kenn covers for Margot. Snack lasts a long time. Diapers take forever. Mostly free play. The Sea Otters start to rev up, so Kenn and I get the group outside early to run it off on the deck. 11 - Lunch prep. Lots of Mac-N-Cheese today. 12 - Elaine's lunch. Sea Otters don't eat very much... just their yogurt. 1 - Margot's lunch. Naps go fairly well. Mimi cries a little while, but she lets me help her... pat her back. Elaine deals with David. He's somewhat of a challenge. Sara coughs a lot while she sleep. Walk up to Whole Foods to get Hot Bar and Salad Bar and some other things. Adam O. is my clerk. He's a fresh-faced, eager, young man. Drop off stuff at home. Take a mall walk in Pacific Place.
Back to my place. Listen to The World. I like the interview with Matthieu Ricard, a French molecular-biologist-turned-Buddhist monk...and possibly "the happiest man in the world." Neuroscientists at the University of Wisconsin say Mr. Ricard had the most impressive emotional balance ever recorded on a brain scan. It's really raining. Jasmine rice and chicken for dinner. Watch Balance Of Terror.
Watch movie - Dr. Strangelove.

dinsdag 12 mei 2009 Wake up to go pee at 3:00. Back to bed - half-asleep - listening to BBC News. Get up with alarm. Rice and beef sausage for breakfast. Turn on Stephanie Miller. She quotes an article from the Atlantic - Full Cheney Panic. Andrew Sullivan writes...
He - Cheney - launches verbal assault after assault on the men and women who succeeded him. He accuses them of risking the lives of Americans, of making America less safe, and openly brags that his violation of the Geneva Conventions worked. Not content with writing his memoirs and letting history judge, he flails around like some prize fish, flapping on the deck of the boat, opening and shutting his mouth as his career expires.
Bath. Take my own coffee up to work. Hang out with the Rainforest Kids to break Shawna and Justine. The kids show me yoga poses from Little Yoga. Cool!
10:15 - Elaine has a conference with some parents. Margot and I set up Water Play! "Water play! Water play!" they exclaim enthusiastically. We wash baby dolls with shaving cream. Good clean fun with the Sea Otters.
Then the Bike Room. Oops! Schedule change... 45-minute lunches. 11 to 11:45 - Elaine. 11:45 to 12:30 - Justine. Shawna gives the group a pep-talk about r-e-s-p-e-c-t before she leaves. Things go pretty smoothly. The kids tell me about tomorrow's field trip to see The Very Hungry Caterpillar show. 12:30 to 1:15 - Margot. Clean up lunch mess. Mimi goes to sleep very easily. Amazing! Naps are easy. 1:15 to 2:00 - Kenn's break. Singing Ol' McDonald to Julia helps her go to sleep. Streetcar to d'town. Home. Start 3 loads of laundry. Need clean underwear and socks. Find a link to 10 Classic Episodes Of Star Trek on MSN. Start with Amok Time.Spock suffers from pon farr, the biological condition that forces him (and other Vulcans) to return to Vulcan and mate every seven years. When he goes back, he walks into a trap set up by his fiancee that has him engage in combat with Kirk. The episode has it all -- the scheming bride-to-be T'Pring, the regal T'Pau, the battle to the "death" between Kirk and Spock, along with the best fight music ever. Skip to Journey To Babel.I LOVE IT! Fold Laundry. Rice and beef sausage for dinner. I have to admit that I enjoy watching the classic Star Trek.

Visit the Dolphins for 15 minutes. Then I spend the rest of the day with the Trailblazers and Explorers. Zach is wearing his Clone Wars t-shirt. The kids seem curious about my Hammerhear shirt. We listen to the story Humu, The Little Fish Who Wished His Colors Away before we go outside.
We run on the deck. 12 - Karen's lunch. The T & E's have lunch. I sit with Elise... She's too silly, so I join Harry and James. 1- Jessica's lunch. The kids are restless at nap time. Only 7 of them fall asleep. Walk up Eastlake... Oh! The police are collecting and evicting people living under I-5.
I don't think that I like that. Walk up to B'way QFC. I see the cute guy who lives near the B&O. Handsome! Get some sausage, Squirt, Fritos and salsa. Walk down Olive Way. Drop off stuff at my place. zondag 10 mei 2009 Up at 5:05. Turn on KEXP - Mind Over Matters. Alternative Radio re-plays the David Korten speech. Check out Pirate TV. Interesting stuff there. I watch the Dr. David Suzuki thing. David Suzuki is brilliant! H-b egg, spinach salad and toast for breakfast. Bath. Take at walk down to Pike Place Market.

I'm rather surprised that there are not many people brunching in the market's restaurants. Cutter's is practically empty. But there's a flower festival. Mostly tulips. Waterfront is busy with tourists boarding the Norwegian Pearl. It's quieter in Myrtle Edwards Park.

Walk down to the sculpture park. Up to the Seattle Center. Nothing much is going on there. Catch a #13 from Queen Anne to d'town. Walk back to my place. Play a little with FM Forums. I like the Taylor Kitsch - Gambit - posting.

Listen to Wait Wait on-line. That's a fun show. Lots of walking today. Another walk up to Cal Anderson Park. Love the fresh air. It's clouding up, but it's a nice 64°. Listen to The Splendid Table. They talk about Riesling. Wine Spectator's Matt Kramer says this ignored gem deserves a revival. It's the perfect quaff with summertime food and sunset watching. Here are some to look for: From France's Alsace Region: Trimbach, especially the Cuvee Frederic Emile, and Hugel. Let's go to Alsace! Listen to Travis Smiley on NPR. He talks with U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice on repairing our reputation abroad. Baked potato for dinner. Watch movie - Star Trek VI - The Undiscovered Country.
