zaterdag 29 mei 2010

zaterdag 29 mei 2010 Up at 3:10. Play movie - Push. The film centers on a group of people born with various superhuman abilities who band together in order to take down a government agency that is using a dangerous drug to enhance their powers in hopes of creating an army of super soldiers.
Hong Kong - A Hot City

In Hong Kong, Nick (Chris Evans) is hiding from the Division as an expatriate. He attempts to use his ability to make a living, but his poor skills at "moving" at a dice game leave him indebted to a local Triad controlled by "Bleeders", bred by the now-defunct Chinese Division.
A young girl named Cassie Holmes (Dakota Fanning) arrives at Nick's apartment, explaining that she is a "Watcher" and that they are going to find a case containing $6 million dollars.
Bleeders have the ability to emit high-pitched sonic vibrations that cause ruptures in a target's blood vessels.
I love Hong Kong. Let's go!

I don't go back to sleep. Watch episodes of Saturday Night Live on Hulu. Roomies. Egg on toast for breakfast. Watch France 24 - The World This Week. Wow. The panel admits to the fact that Wall Street and Big Oil control America. These issues are openly discussed internationally. It's time for Wait, Wait... with Charlie Pierce, Mo Rocca and Roxanne Roberts.

Walk up to Whole Foods in a light drizzle. Get some Pandoori chicken and coconut rice and some salad for lunch. Home. Listen to Rick Steves' radio program. He always does something special for the Memorial Day weekend. He talks with people from Brittany and Normandy. Play with YouTube.

I need a nap.

Awake. Play movie - The One.

A superhuman criminal named Yu-Law, once a member of the organization policing interdimensional travel (via detecting wormhole openings, which can be predicted like the weather), seeks to hunt down and kill variations of himself in alternate universes to absorb a common life force (which possibly has to do something with the string theory as it was mentioned in the movie by Evan Funsch which is a real theory and also the real life Many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics) that connects them all. By killing his other selves, (becoming the last version of himself) and absorbing their power, he thinks he will become a god.
How ironic... In another universe... ?

vrijdag 28 mei 2010

vrijdag 28 mei 2010 Up at 2:06. Turn on BBC News. There's a lot on Outlook. They talk about the experience of two single mothers in Italy living in a traditionally Catholic country. Fall back to sleep. Alarm wakes me. Check out the news in The Huffington Post. The front page brings up an interesting subject to ponder.

Switch to Stephanie Miller. She's back in Los Angeles. Is she going Homo-Coastal? John Fugelsang contibutes to the show from NYC. Steph tells him not to play with her box. I like playing with her box. It's fun. You can play with it, too.

They talk about recent comments from America's Survival. They don't seem to like Gays in the military... They'll poison the blood. Huh? Keith Olbermann discussed "these groups of idiots" with Dan Savage last night on his show.

Let's keep an eye on the American Family Association, too. Rice and h-b egg for breakfast. Shower. Take my own coffee for a walk around First Hill. It's a little rainy this morning. KOMO Weather is talking about a Super Convergence Zone. Back to my place. Pack my lunch. Walk up to 9th and Westlake. It's getting too wet, so I catch the streetcar to work. 10 to 11 - Teresa meets with Earnestine. I change diapers while Pam does a little art project with the 5 Dolphins. Then, we clean up and head down to the Bike Room. 11 to 12 - I get an early start with the lunch and mat prep. 12 - Pam's lunch. Cristin covers for Teresa. It's nice to have low numbers. It's a very mellow transition from lunch time to nap time. 1 to 3 - I piggy-back lunch breaks for Erin and Tanya for Pam while she gets acquainted with her new kids in the Infant Room. But it's still Nap Time, and I relax and read the Food Magazine. OMG! Justine Timberlake sponsors Southern Hospitality BBQ for it Bourbon Favored Pecon Pie.

3 - When I leave, Charmaine says, "Go ahead and take the rest of the month off!" "Thanks, Charmaine." It's true. The next day of work is June 1st. Walk up Terry Ave. to my place. I play my podcast of The World. Man! They talk about that terrible war in Afghanistan. Report - The War In Afghanistan. Imagine you are a soldier stationed at the United States Military Korengal Outpost, the most dangerous military location in Afghanistan. Every day your platoon takes heavy fire. You could be shot at any moment. What effect does combat have on the human psyche? What good can come of war? Read WAR. It's What We Value, right? Tunafish salad sandwich for dinner.

donderdag 27 mei 2010

donderdag 27 mei 2010 Up with alarm. Turn on Stephanie Miller. A caller - "Right-wing Jerry" from Chicago - tells Steph about how his gay sister committed suicide. They talk about a nationwide, 24-hour suicide prevention number - The Trevor Project.

It's sad... Because of the unfortunate stigma that still exists in the United States around homosexuality, youth tend to hold back their feelings, don't disclose, live in denial or shame. Rice and fried egg for breakfast. Shower. Streetcar to work. There's only one person from NAEYC at Hutch Kids to "assess" us. I'm assigned to clean the Downstairs Storage. No way. I spend only 45 minutes in there. Then I hang out with the 5 Sea Otters on the playground. The Dolphins come out later. Inside, we eat lunch together. I read books to the kids before they go down for naps. 1 - Erin's lunch. Head upstairs for Wildflowers nap time. The kids are reading books before the light go out. Here's an interesting book Anh's Anger.

2 - Patty's lunch. The Sea Otters sleep. Walk up to B'way after work. Bump into Joe T. We hug. Back to my place. I discover some welts - like insect bites - on the legs, arms and my stomach. "What the hell?" Turn on France 24. The iPad Goes On Sale In France Tomorrow. They interview Katie Melua about her new album in the Culture Report. I like the hunks in your video, Katie.

Switch to MSNBC. BP Resumes 'Top Kill' Effort To Stop Leak. Wow, wow, wow. Pasta and hard boiled egg for dinner. Play movie - Running With Scissors - again. I like when the actor Joseph Cross faces the author Augusten Burroughs when the credits roll.

woensdag 26 mei 2010 Up at 4:25. Turn on France 24. Business report - EU Commission Wants Bank Levy To Pay For Future Crises. Europeans seem to be getting very nervous about the potential collapse of the Euro. Turn on Stephanie Miller. It's a little rainy this morning. Coffee at Kaladi. Jeremiah and Luka are a little busy. Walk up Westlake to work. I get to do some breaks. I'm upstairs and downstairs and inside and ourside.
The Starfish are playing this silly game of pushing this aluminum rack around the deck. I think that they're getting a cheap thrill of feeling the vibrations through it.

The Trailblazers are making paper wings to become butterflies and birds. Nice project to do on a rainy day.

The Rainforest Kids have an interesting dramatic play area where the kids can pretend to be firefighters. Ingenious use of materials. Tubes and blue streamers.

Close up of a Sea Otter. She wants me to take her picture. "Please?"

I'm extra for a little while. I join the Sea Otters and Dolphins in the Bike Room. Patty sets up lunches. 12 - Charmaine's lunch. Only 5 Sea Otters. We eat together. A mom comes to visit and she reads books with the group. I clean up the lunch mess while Patty does diapers. 1 - Teresa's lunch. Over to Dolphins for their nap time. There's laundry to fold. 2 - Patty's lunch. It's quiet while the Sea Otters sleep. I leave a little early. Turn on The World while walking up to Whole Foods. Get some sardines, hot sauce, Silk and pasta salad at Whole Foods. Drop off stuff at home. Turn on France 24. I love the Culture Report and the interview with Joe Sumner - the lead singer of Fiction Plane. Wow! He's the son of Sting, too. Report - British Rock Band Fiction Plane.

Switch to MSNBC. I'm with Keith Olbermann... I have cautious optimism about the Top Kill. He has live feed of the procedure. Yeah. You just need to dump something heavy on this. Play an episode of The Simpsons - Moe Letter Blues. Potatoes O'Brian and stir fried beef for dinner. Watch movie - Running With Scissors. Don't make me cry. (I do.)

dinsdag 25 mei 2010

sick dinsdag 25 mei 2010 Call in sick at 6:11. Stomach troubles. Still... I listen to Stephanie Miller. Bill Press is "live" to talk about his new book “Toxic Talk: How the Radical Right Has Poisoned America’s Airwaves.” Oy! Check with CNN. Patience Runs Thin With The Oil Spill. Stocks take a plunge. Whoa. There's a movie - The Boss.

Play with Google Earth. Explore Pattaya. Let's go to Thailand! Shower. Turn on Randi Rhodes.

The heat on Obama intensifies over the Gulf oil spill, but industry experts are saying that government doesn’t have the people needed to do it any better than BP. That hasn’t stopped Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL) from calling for a military takeover of the oil spill operation.

Meanwhile, the
toxic dispersant standoff between BP and the EPA persists. Big Oil oversight: oxymoronic, to say the least. And GOP Gulf Coast senators push for more drilling.

Take a little nap. Turn on MSNBC to watch Hardball and Rachel Maddow. Secretary Chu - At Least He's A Nerd. Watch movie - Across The Universe. I love this movie... All You Need Is Love. "It's Jude."

Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives. Turn on Stephanie Miller. Toast and egg for breakfast. Shower. Steph and Chris seem to be in disagreement about Obama's response (or lack thereof) to the oil spill. This is an emergency, for sure, but Obama can't put on Superman's cape and go down to cap the thing. Walk up to Whole Foods to bet some Garlic Noodles. Alex and his mom ride the streetcar with me to Hutch Kids. This is Pam's first day as director. 10 to 12 - Planning time for Charmaine. Caitlin demands that I read Miss Mary Mack. "Ok Ok."

Alana covers for Patty. She gets out paper and markers for the kids. They enjoy working on their little sheets of paper. Down to the Bike Room. Teo finds the sticky ball. It's fun to throw it up against the windows. Ryan covets the ball. "Mine." It's sad to see him get paranoid... The other kids want to play with it, too. 12 - Charmaine's lunch. I eat my garlic noodles with the 7 Sea Otters. Patty does diapers. I clean up the lunch mess... which seems extra messy. 1 - Teresa's lunch. Six Dolphins are napping, but Piper has a 30-minute argument with Pam about napping. It gets intense, but she eventually goes to sleep. 2 - Patty's lunch. It's quiet time for the Sea Otters. I contribute the new nap music CD with Jack Johnson and others.

Edie wakes up early. We have clipboards with paper. She loves to draw. Walk up to my place. Change clothes. Shop for stuff and things at QFC. Watch Hardball and Countdown. Watch the last half of Cold Showers. I feel sorry for Mickael. He has to lose all this weight - eight kilos - to qualify for the championship team. Then he has these personal struggles... at school and at home.
