They play well after lunchtime. They're still all awake when I leave. They eventually settle. It's bizarre to go from an active classroom to a very quiet, dark classroom. Streetcar to d'town. He has had personal experience with Christie. Also, Stephanie gets reaction from Fox News' Alan Colmes on the RNC convention. Colmes jokes about Ann Romney's "Costco dress." Streetcar to work. I'm mostly with the Sea Otters today to give Patty some planning time. The kids are already outside. We spend a lot of time on the playground. They seem to be fascinated by the detour. It's like a quick and constant parade of vehicles - cars, van, trucks and busses. Inside, we have a "book table." They like listening to Happy Birthday, Mouse... And they love it when mouse gets his cookie. Yay for little mouse!
All that fresh air made the kids hungry. Visit the Seahorses for nap time. They're snoozing soundly. Streetcar to d'town. Wander a little around the east edge of d'town. Up to the construction site of Via6.

Spaghetti carbonara for breakfast. Turn on Stephanie Miller. Obama campaign adviser and former White House press secretary Robert Gibbs gives Stephanie an inside look at the GOP convention. Gibbs says that he wishes that the GOP platform was a joke, “but it’s a scary thing.” Walk up Westlake to work. Pam is reading Who Am I? to the kids on the playground. The kids' attention is fixed on Pam.
Set up lunches for Starfish and Seahorses. I give myself a break. Over to Sea Otters. They linger a while at the lunch table. Patty changes diapers while I clean up the lunch mess. Some kids doze right off to sleep. Others take a while. The champion nappers - the Seahorses. Quiet time. To avoid the construction mess on Fairview and Valley, I take the streetcar to Denny. #8 up to B'way. Wander around a little before I head home. Watch KOMO News. OK... zzzzzz. I'll always remember that sea of yellow. In honor of the hero - Felix Hernandez. My Midnight movie - Soylent Green. I love it when Edward G. Robinson - Sol Roth - says Schmuck. A few hours of good sleep. Up at 6:07. Turn on Stephanie Miller. Stephanie gets a chance to chat with actor Harry Shearer about the 2012 election. He predicts election results. Clam and black olive omelet and hash browns for breakfast. Down to Uwajimaya to pick up some things... especially some beer for today's M's game - Primo Island Lager.
This game is a bit of a nail-biter. But Thames double leads Mariners over Indians 3-1.
It's a mixture of sports, politics, religion and politics today. Watch the Dan Savage, Brain Brown Debate.

It looks like a huge lake down there. Mushroom and green pepper omelet and hash browns for breakfast. Turn on Stephanie Miller. They post photos of Sexy, Liberal Tour in Columbus at the Capitol Theatre. Yay!
Walk up Westlake to work. I'm mostly with the Sea Otters today. I set up their lunches while they take a little rope walk. We have a fairly leisurely lunchtime. Naps are easy. Over to Seahorses. They're sleeping until 2:50. The kids want to know what Kenn and I are talking about. Streetcar to d'town. #41 bus tunnel to Pioneer Sq. It takes a whole 10 minutes to get to the Mariner's ticket office. Lots of people down here. Sure to be a busy night. Train back. Relax a little while at my place. Munch on some pasta salad. Looking forward to watching Felix Hernandez in action. PERFECT!! Felix Hernandez!
Ah, there's my Mariners cap. It's 20-years-old.

He needs to answer three questions about the French chef, Julia Child. Walk down to University Street Station. Train to Columbia City for the 20th Rainier Valley Heritage Festival. Michael joins me. Here comes the parade.

Michael and I walk down Rainier Avenue. Buy some Barack and Michelle buttons. Michael turns on the home theater so we can watch Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back... in Blu-ray. TESB is my favorite of the series. It's tough on Luke Skywalker.
A good time re-watching this. Train back to d'town. It's packed with tourists, travelers, Sounders fans and Mariner fans. It's amazing that the train can move with all these people. Oh, well. The sun in Seattle slowly sets though the haze.

Westlake Park is used as a backdrop in much of the video. Hash browns and fried egg for breakfast. Turn on Stephanie Miller. Rep. Paul Ryan is a fan of the band Rage Against The Machine? Whoa! In a brutal Rolling Stone editorial, Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello calls Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney the "embodiment of the machine that our music has been raging against for two decades." Walk up to work. A lot of parents, kids, child care centers are taking advantage of the fountains of Lake Union.
I help out the Dolphins. They're tired already. Set up lunches for the Sea Otters. They're all done, too. They settle down for naps. The Seahorses are peacefully sleeping, too. It's a magical nap time. By the way, our director for the last 2 years is leaving. Feelings of uncertainty. Oy. Streetcar to d'town. Drop off stuff. Visit the library. Oh, Mitt. Your such a silly dad. Tagg picks his nose at the table, Craig was purchased from hippies for tortilla chips and a Fresca, and Josh is a… knucklesnort? Turn on Stephanie Miller. There was some big talk on energy Tuesday on the campaign trail. President Obama talked wind power and Mitt Romney said if he is elected, America will be so energy independent by the end of his second term that we’ll no longer have to buy oil from the Middle East and Venezuela. Very exciting. How "unhinged" can you get?
It's already 71° for my walk to work. First thing to happen... A kid throws up on me. Geez! When things get cleaned up, we take the kids out to the playground. Here we go. Fire drill. It makes us jump.
Nice that we're outside already. Some of the kids cry... mostly because we're interrupting their play. When things settle down, I bring out their water bottles and bubbles. They love it when I spray them with the mist. Inside. It's lunchtime. They don't eat very much. They're more interested in the new toys that Patty brought into the classroom - connector ducks, computer keyboards and wooden things. I try to keep the peace while Patty changes diapers. After a few stories, they go down for naps. Over to Seahorses. I love it. They are champion nappers. Kenn tells me about his job (when he was only 16) at the Kings Park Psychiatric Center - a closed 12-story mental center. Wow, Kenn. Attention people. The photo gallery is set to System Of A Down. LOUD! Back to Sea Otters. It would be nice to let the kids sleep longer, but there's too much noise next door. I want to leave now. Streetcar to d'town. #212 bus tunnel to Uwajimaya to pick up some stuff. It's busy with Mariners fans. #33 bus (with AC) back to d'town. Drop off stuff. Down to Freeway Park. Hang out for a little bit. Cool place.

Former and future congressman from Florida, Alan Grayson, calls in to talk about how Romney’s pick of Paul Ryan affects the GOP’s chances in Florida. Grayson says Ryan budget 'throws grandma off the train.' A little walk d'town. Up Westlake to work. The kids head outside fairly early. I spend the whole first hour giving breaks to teachers in the sunshine. I feel like a fifth wheel, though, when Patty goes in to set up lunches. But the Dolphins need some help. Over to Seahorses for Toni's break. Relax with 7 sleeping children. All the kids seemed drained. Me, too. Up to Whole Foods to pick up some things. Make a batch of chicken chili. Perfect. Turn on NPR. I like their cities project. This seems like a daunting project - Scorching Phoenix Plans For An Even Hotter Future. Phoenix, they explain, has two heat problems. Man! It's getting hot in Washington State, too. Seattle's high - 84. The Eastern Side is burning hot. It's on the Nightly News.
