vrijdag 29 juni 2012

vrijdag 29 juni 2012 Up at 3:34. Turn on BBC News. An apparent concession to Spain and Italy - Merkel Backs Europe Bank Rescue Deal. All the markets are up this morning. Switch to KOMO News. The Seattle Great Wheel opens today. Cost $13 per person for 13 minutes. Hummus sandwich for breakfast. Turn on Stephanie Miller. They mock CNN and Fox News for their little gaffe. Oops! CNN and FOX blow Supreme Court health care ruling coverage - and Obama briefly thought Obamacare had been overturned. I love this Photoshopped image of Obama holding up an iPad displaying the incorrect news splashed across CNN.com.
Walk up to Denny and catch the streetcar the rest of the way to work. The drizzle is getting heavier. Then, like magic, it stops. Hang out with the Starfish on the playground. I see the Rainforest kids are having soccer practice. The guy in the red jacket is from Happy Feet - a new and exciting mobile soccer clinic for children ages 2 to 6. The kids love it.
It's a musical day, it seems, for some kids. Someone loves bells.
Hang out with the Sea Otters at lunchtime. There are a few arguments at nap time. These guys had no time outside, though. One kid had a nap already. I take him out to the playground for some one-on-one fun. Over to Seahorses. One is waking up. She cries when she sees me. She's having a hard day, I guess. One other wakes up, and I take him out to the playground. We kick the ball around for a little while. Streetcar to d'town. Turn on KOMO News. Oh, no! It's going to cost more to cross the Highway 520 floating bridge and the Tacoma Narrows Bridge starting Sunday. Watch The Universe - 10 Ways To Destroy The Earth. Way #6 - The Earth torn apart by two black holes? It looks like torture.
General Tsao chicken and rice for dinner. Re-watch Doctor Who - Vincent And The Doctor. This episode makes me cry at the end. I want to visit Auvers-sur-Oise, France and go up to Van Gogh's little room at the Auberge Ravoux.

donderdag 28 juni 2012

donderdag 28 juni 2012 Up at 3:57. Turn on BBC News. Surprising news - Beckham Fails To Make Britain's Olympic Squad‎. Snubbed! The Portugal v Spain game sounds pretty rowdy, but Spain moves up. Cristiano Ronaldo is a frustrated, unused fifth penalty-taker. Sweet potato fries and egg for breakfast. Keep KOMO News on for the Supreme Court ruling... and here it is.
Supreme Court Health Care Ruling: The Mandate Can Stay. Shower. Watch movie - Vincent & Theo. The first scene gets to me. At auction at Christie's London, on March 31, 1987, Van Gogh's Still Life: Vase with Fifteen Sunflowers sells for the equivalent of US $39,921,750. Vincent lived such a poor, tortured life. I catch Stephanie Miller at the last minute. Steven Weber tells Stephanie WE CAN ALL GET ALONG.
Walk up Westlake to work. The radio is abuzz with reaction to the news. Weekday covers it: Supreme Court Upholds The Affordable Care Act. Gov. Gregoire calls in to express her happiness. I applaud today’s Supreme Court decision. Since the Affordable Care Act was signed by the President, we have worked tirelessly to implement it in our state, with my firm belief that it was constitutional and would ultimately withstand legal challenge. Busy day. Breaks everywhere. I get to eat my lunch with the Sea Otters today. Interesting music for nap time - Ulalena. I expect that the Seahorses will sleep forever. But noooooo! Four of them pop up early. They get bored with books pretty fast. Not even My Fire Engine amuses.
The grey clouds are back. Streetcar to d'town. Short walk to 1410 Second Avenue - the future home of Target City. Through Rainier Square back to my place. Watch KOMO News. Wow. There's something besides the Health Care Act to look at. The Peterson broithers of Saline County, Kansas make a vid. I love it. Finish Vincent & Theo. Lead up... December 23, 1888 - Vincent chops off his ear. He later documented the event in a painting titled Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear. Through the movie, I see that hedonism is rampant in the 1880's. Is this true? Watch Hardball. Veggie burger on toast for dinner. Watch The Universe - The Hunt For Ringed Planets.

During the quiet time, I read Jessica's book - Van Gogh: The History and Techniques Of The Great Masters.
Over to Seahorses for Toni's lunch. The boys wake up before 3 today. We build with legos and read Go, Dog, Go. (How many times have I read that one?) Walk up Westlake to Denny. #8 bus up to B'way. I love how it chugs up the hill - changing gears all the way. B'way is a mess, but they're laying the tracks for the First Hill Streetcar. Progress, my friends. Walk around the shady lanes of First Hill. Big green trees. Finally, home. Watch Power Rangers Overdrive - Home And Away. Shrimp fried rice for dinner. Watch the news. The latest polls.
