The gang seem to focus more on the new Newt. For me, it's his smug self-regard which bothers me. Yes. He's dishonest, disloyal self-deluded, etc. Bean burrito with egg salad for breakfast. Shower. I'm wearing shorts for the last day of November. Short walk around First Hill. Back to my place. Turn on BBC News. Report - Many Thousands Around UK At Stike Rallies. A reporter says that in front of him is "a river of noisy indignation flowing through the heart of London. Men, women, young and old who are ... headed for the House of Parliament to make their protest known." Sounds very dramatic.
I want to know more, but they go to the sports report. Switch to KUOW for I'm feeling feisty today. I hear about the protests in the UK on BBC News. Strike! Strike! Strike! They came out in thousands to march to Parliament. Switch to KUOW for Weekday - Police Response To Occupy Movement. I listen to an attorney for Occupy Seattle. I didn't know that Occupy Seattle has a legal team. He articulates well the meaning of the movement. Steve Scher asked really pointed questions to these people. So, to honor The Winter Of Our Discontent (The Occupy Movement), I am wearing shorts today.
Walk up Westlake to work. A few short breaks. Outside with the Starfish and Seahorses. The day flies by. Circle, diapers and naps. The Seahorses really WANT to sleep, while the Starfish fight their naps. Walk home. Turn on The World. They give attention to Myanmar - the people, the politics and Hillary's visit. Stay in my nice warm apartment and watch KIRO News. Students from Garfield High march to Seattle City Hall. The mayor comes out to meet and talk with them.

Eric Boehlert - Senior Fellow at Media Matters for America - talks with Steph about an interesting trend: New poll suggests Fox News makes you less informed than watching no news at all. Shower. Walk up Westlake to work. Some small breaks for Seahorses and Starfish teachers. They get out early to the playground. When the Starfish come back inside, I get out the play-doh. More than a dozen protesters burst into a crowded committee room and began chanting in opposition of deep budget cuts. They shout in favor of taxing the wealthy. Hash browns and egg salad for dinner. He has a roundtable which discusses Poverty in America.

I feel like our country is de-evolving. Patrick McCarthy emphasizes how government needs to invest in children and education at the same time. Emily Allen talks about the importance to seniors of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. Dennis Van Roekel explains why he’s disheartened that the former middle class has now become the new poor. Switch to BBC News. The science report talks about the Curiosity Mars Rover which blast off tomorrow.

Then it's The World. Oh! Oh! I know the answer to The Geo Quiz! The Netherlands! I bet that this video goes viral, but (for some reason) I wonder about the credibility of Jennifer Fox. Still... the heavy-handed treatment by the police... Why? The rain lets up for a little while... thankfully for my commute to work. Ride on the streetcar. I'm with the 5 Seahorses for most of the day to give Anne planning time. They're rather cranky today. "Mine!" "Give me!" Whoa! Fresh air doesn't help either. We settle down for lunch. That's a relief. The toilets upstairs explode during my break. Oy! Kenn cleans up the mess in our room. We have some new nap music. I hear Fais nanan m'tchou. Nice. The kids sleep unitl 3. It's raining. I need a bigger umbrella. It's so wet! Streetcar to d'town. Oh! A #12 bus! I get a chance to visit Trader Joe's. It's a 25-minute bus ride through intense rain and traffic to get up to Capitol Hill. Chips, dip, salsa, hummus, frozen food... my favorites. The store is busy, busy, busy. It's Thanksgiving in a couple days. I'm in a good mood, though. Good karma with Metro, too. I catch a #11 to d'town... just a minute of waiting. Walk in the drizzle back to my place. Watch movie - Attack Of The Puppet People. They spend a lot of time around that rotary phone.
Up Westlake to work. Pam has a project for me - decorate a couple boxes. 11 - Cristin's lunch. Olivia and I hang out with the 7 Starfish. They're playing with baby dolls. Sharon does lunch prep. 12 - Anne's lunch. Kenn is subbing for Toni. The 7 Seahorses eat lunch with me. A little resistance against naps. 1 - Kenn's lunch. All the kids are sleeping by 1:00. I work on my boxes again. 2 - Olivia's lunch. One Starfish is awake already. We go to the Bike Room to mingle with the Sea Otters and Seahorses. Just walk straight home. Turn on KOMO News. Snow? Report - More Snow Likely For South Sound. Short walk around d'town. The clouds look weird. Back to my place. Watch movie - the "only mindlessly watchable" Surf Ninjas.
Turkey, cranberry sauce and potatoes for dinner. Next - Hardball. Movie - They Live. A drifter discovers a pair of sunglasses that allow him to wake up to the fact that aliens have taken over the Earth. I didn't know that such a supposedly schlocky sci-fi movie would present such a parallel to life in November 2011.

John Carlson is a right-wing tool. He talks about the Ocuupy movement with so much bias that I am very annoyed. Walk up Westlake to work. I should be wearing another layer. I'm cold. It's 41° and breezy. Kechelle gets the first break. I hang out with the 4 Sunshine kids. We look at a National Geographic. Outside on the playground with the Seahorses and Starfish. Kenn is subbing for Cristin. We head inside early to do diapers and fix lunches. Naps are easy. Tired kids. One falls asleep with his favorite firetruck book.
When I leave work. I hear the buzz of a helicopter. It's hovering above the University Bridge. Ah, yes. Various groups of Occupy Seattle are converging there for a Day of Action and Solidarity! Rally in Support of Education and Jobs for the 99%. Westbound 520 offramp at Montlake closed is closed. A 2-mile back up on Eastlake Ave. and I-5. Hey, folks. I commute on foot. Check KOMO News when I get home.

Dot-dot! We play out in the rain for 20 minutes. The Bike Room is empty, so we occupy the Bike Room. Back inside for lunch time. They go down early for naps. Some noise in the hallway wakes some of the kids. "Bye, bye. I'm going home." Streetcar to d'town. Drop off stuff at my place. Walk up to QFC to pick up some stuff. Watch some KOMO News. It's a big day in Berkeley today. Groups are going to merge at UCB. Robert Reich will talk about income inequality. Lots of teach-ins.

Turn on Stephanie Miller. She tells us the news Hundreds Of Police Officers, Some In Riot Gear, Descended On Zuccotti Park in New York after midnight today in a surprise sweep of the Occupy Wall Street headquarters. The park was cleared in less than 3 hours. Katrina Vanden Heuvel, editor of The Nation, tells Stephanie, "You just can't evict an idea whose time has come." So very true.Rice and black bean dip for breakfast. Shower. Walk up Westlake to work. Another easy-going day with the Starfish and Seahorses. I miss them, but the Starfish take a walk to Fairview Park. It's another beautiful day. They get some Bike Room time. All this activity should wear them out, but they get rowdy at nap time. Everyone sleeps. I leave at snack time. I march up Belmont to Capitol Hill. A lovely view of St. Mark's. That's my shadow.
Over to Rudy's for a buzz cut. Jake cuts my hair. Shop for a few things at QFC. University down to my place. There's another beautiful golden sunset. Turn on KOMO News. Occupy Seattle is moving down from SCCC to Westlake. Whew! Rush hour. Stand off at 5th and Pine!

Police surround Occupy Oakland camp. Police moved in beginning at 4:30 a.m. and by 5 a.m. officers in riot gear had blocked streets surrounding Frank Ogawa Plaza. Fried egg and hash browns for breakfast. Shower. Sorry Steph. I am watching Oakland officials justifying their actions.
With a heavy heart, I walk up to work. It's tragic. I care for Occupy Cal. Fortunately, the day at work is mellow. I spend some extra time with the Starfish on the playground. A little drizzle makes our coats a little damp. It's a mellow day. Low numbers for the Starfish. Naps are easy. Streetcar to d'town. Drop off stuff. Walk around d'town. The sun is setting straight down Pike Street. Beautiful golden street. Back home, I turn on MSNBC. As I expected... Ousted Oakland Protesters: We'll Be Back.

Yep. He's toast. A campaign blunder by Rick Perry stole the spotlight at Wednesday night’s presidential debate. While the CNBC debate was supposed to focus on the economy, the Texas governor forgot a key debate point and threatened to crystallize Republicans’ concerns about his candidacy. There is good ol' Herman Cain. One of Herman Cain’s harassment accusers said Cain had “complete amnesia” in saying he did not remember her. Brilliant sunset. Walk down 4th to Uwajimaya. Get veggies and tofu. Train back to d'town. I come out of the Westlake Station. It's 5 PM exactly. I see Occupy Seattle protesters moving down Pine. They're going down to Bell Harbor to rally for the Port Of Seattle Union. It's police hyper overdrive again. The Women In Black are present. A KOMO 4 helicopter is hovering above Westlake. Back at my place to check it out.
On November 10th, Port of Seattle executives will be honored for their “contributions” to the economy, with a $1,750-a-table awards banquet at the Bell Harbor Conference Center hosted by the Seattle Chamber of Commerce.
