A couple short breaks in Moons & Stars. I am greeted with great enthusiasm. Brady sits in my lap at circle time. Leisha talks about the life-cycle of the pumpkin. Down to the Sea Otter classroom. Joyce does Five Little Pumpkins.
I do diapers while Joyce does circle. Anne sets up lunches. Short-staffed today? Not really. Lunchtime is messy. Naps are a struggle. Up to Wild Flowers. I keep a non-napper company. Down to Seahorses. One is already awake. The others sleep through his noises. Streetcar to Denny. #8 bus up to B'way. Visit Conner at QFC's liquor store. Take a bottle of Finlandia home with me. Watch a documentary about Winston Churchill. In honor of today's crooner - Roger Daltrey - I watch Tommy.

Walk up to Virginia for some 7-Eleven coffee. It needs cream and sugar. A hint of a sunrise from the web cam at Salty's.
Hard boiled egg with spicy noodles for breakfast. Watch France 24. Poor François Hollande. Poll shows only 26% of French people have positive opinion of Socialist president, lower even than Sarkozy's 30%.
Enough French politics. Up to work. Two hours with the Dolphins while their teachers take some planning time. Nice long time outside on the playground. Another beautiful day. Play a lot in the sandbox. Inside, the kids discover a new kitchen area. They focus a lot on the pots, plates and the flour sifter. Over to Sea Otters. I clean up the lunch mess. Naps are easy. They sleep a good 90 minutes. Diapers and freeplay when they wake up. Streetcar to d'town and train to Uwajimaya. It's Their 85th anniversary, and everything is 10% off. Get spicy beef gyoza, lots of veggies and Sho Chiko Bai.
#77 Express bus to Maple Leaf. I'm don't really know that neighborhood. I just go up to 9th and Pine and head back home. Watch France 24 again. Je suis content. Edith Piaf continues to inspire, 50 years after her death.

I go back and forth - Sea Otters and Dolphins. I join both groups out on the playground. Wow. It's quite windy, and the kids love it. Bubbles zip away. The bright red leaves in the trees. Bright blue sky above us. Inside, Joyce does a round of diapers. Kids hand me books to read. So, I read. Over to Dolphins. They're going down for naps. The rest of the day is fairly mellow. Streetcar to d'town. Shop at City Target for some groceries. Home. Watch BBC Horizon: Swallowed by a Black Hole. Une salade niçoise - une spécialité culinaire célèbre de Nice - pour le dîner. I wish that I had anchovies for my salad. Time for MST3K. This week on Cave Dwellers...

The lasting visual impression of “Feasibility” is of watching an ink wash come to life.  Blacks and whites and morbid grays clash in fog, and strive to break through filters and mist, the sky sometimes appearing like a livid bruise.

Walk up to Denny. #40 bus to Mercer. I'm with the Sea Otter while their teachers take planning time. They seem to be celebrating Fall.
The Sea Otters are already outside... on the Infant Playground. They're having fun, but I can see that the kids are too big for the toys. The slide is way too small. But we chase bubbles and sing Row, Row, Row Your Boat. Inside, it's Friday Freeplay, but I take the kids on a tour of the photo collages. They eat well at lunchtime. Naps are easy. Up to Rain Forest. After coming back from a field trip, the kids are still trying to settle down for naps. Some are crying. The teachers stay to help them, but they settle down eventually. One of the non-nappers, Alex, shows me his Visual Dictionary Of Baseball book. He and others in the group are obsessed about baseball.
Streetcar to Denny. #8 bus up to B'way. Shop at the QFC. Good deal on some Jalapeno and Artichoke dip. #49 bus to d'town. A huge group of students from SCCC pile into the bus. Back home. Stir fry rice and veggies for dinner. In honor of Mr. Chiwetel Ejiofor, I watch one of his films - 2012. He plays Dr. Adrian Helmsley. He's part of a worldwide geophysical team investigating the effect on the earth of radiation from unprecedented solar storms and learns that the earth's core is heating up. He warns U.S. President Thomas Wilson that the crust of the earth is becoming unstable and that without proper preparations for saving a fraction of the world's population, the entire race is doomed. Adrian Helmsley: The moment we stop fighting for each other, that's the moment we lose our humanity.

Walk up to Denny. Catch a #62 to Mercer. Give a few 15-minute breaks, then I give Joyce an hour for a meeting. Hang out with the Sea Otters. Eileen does circle time while I set up lunches. Naps are not as much of a struggle today. Over to Seahorses for a change. One of the kids sneezes and wakes himself up. We read his favorite book - It's Pumpkin Day, Mouse! Eek! Then we go to the Bike Room.
Streetcar to d'town. I'm curious about a new construction project. It's huge. It's Insignia Seattle.

Seattle is changing so much that it razzle-dazzles me. Walk down 5th Ave. to The Martin. Back home. Watch KOMO News. Weather = Fog. I love the time lapse video of the fog smothering Seattle. We have extra help for lunch prep. We need to wrangle with the Sea Otters at nap time. Upstairs for naps with Wildflowers and Rain Forest. Beck is a non-napper, though. We read No Is No And Si Is Yes.
Streetcar to d'town. Call mom about dad. She talks about New Life Hospice care for dad. I'm glad to hear he's going home. I need a walk before the sun goes away. I see a fog bank creeping up from the waterfront. I sneak a peek into Seattle Sneaker City. Their door is always open. I'm tempted to buy something.
Bus #49 up to Boren. Back to my place. I can see on the news that the fog is rolling back in. That's a beautiful and amazing shot from Queen Anne. Ladies and gentlemen, the Space Needle floats.

I love the old short-wave radio. Walk up Westlake to work. I'm with the Dolphins as their teachers take planning time. They're already out on the playground. I'm glad about early playground time. The kids enjoy standing on boxes to watch the big kids on the other playground. The big kids greet the little ones. Over to Sea Otters. Lunchtime goes somewhat more leisurely than usual. One early-riser heads down to the Bike Room with me. A couple Seahorses join us. Streetcar to d'town. Shop at Target for some things. Back home. Watch Power Rangers Mystic Force: The Stranger Within. A DJ hypnotizes the kids with his music.
So, Sponge Bob likes the GB divers.
Left-over Singapore vermacelli and orange chicken for dinner. Watch some news and Star Trek - The Trouble With Tribbles. The bar fight is great, but I enjoy the one-to-one with Scotty and Chekov.

I take a couple early risers to the Bike Room. I feel really tired. Busy day. Streetcar to d'town. #106 bus tunnel to Uwajimaya. Get some Odon noodles, lemon grass tofu and eggs. Train to Westlake. Walk the rest of the way home. Turn on KOMO News. Cute story - Grateful boy dresses up as his doctor for Halloween. Check Entertainment News. That's one of my favorites, too. I set up lunches. Oops. I trip and fall on the floor. It scares the kids. Skinned my shin. Ow!
They hardly eat any lunch. Down fast for naps. Up to Rain Forest kids. A handful of non-nappers draw art for me. I get to take some art home. I love 4-year-old art. Thanks, kids.
