woensdag 31 maart 2021

woensdag 31 maart 2021 Well... 40 years ago on this day, a poor young Ohio boy entered the gates of the Emerald City - Seattle. In honor of that momentous day... I watch The Wizard of Oz. Yeah! Somewhere Over The Rainbow, my Friends of Dorothy!
The bluest skies you've ever seen in Seattle. And the hills the greenest green in Seattle. Like a beautiful child growing up free and wild. Full of hopes and full of fears. Full of laughter full of tears. Full of dreams to last the years in Seattle. In Seattle. Yeah... The skies are usually gray. I liked the rain. I worked for 17 years at FHCRC. This video makes me feel a little nostalgic for Seattle. I worked 6 years at Pike Place Market. (No, I didn't throw fish.) But I have to admit that the fish mongers are pretty funny! Back in Ohio...

dinsdag 30 maart 2021 A teddy bear (Ted) and his human pal (Johnny) enter a bar... Midnight movie - 2015 comedy Ted 2.
Slippery when wet. Those sperm bank floors can be hazardous.
So I wait my turn, I'm a modern man. And the people behind me, they can't understand. Nice to wake up to Canadian indie rock band Arcade Fire. Thank you WTSQ for playing Modern Man. Down to the Conservatory to say hi to the fish in the Koi pond.
Oberlin College has photos on Flickr. Love browsing through the vaccine selfies. Assistant Professor of Opera Theater and his husband: vaccinated! I get my 2nd shot in 7 days.
Battered around again by the wind... What's with all the wind?!?

maandag 29 maart 2021

maandag 29 maart 2021 Billy Chisup: a scrappy character of the Victorian era. He has the heartbreaking scars to show for his troubles. He joins a fight club to earn a few coins to survive. As I continue to watch The Irregulars, I hope to see more of Billy's story.
The Golden Dawn was a real-life secret society dedicated to the study of the occult and paranormal in the late 19th century. Warning: Chapter Three - Ipsissimus - is gruesome. With all the historical cross-overs in this series, Who Was the Real Prince Leopold?
CNN Int'l - Boat refloated: Huge container ship blocking the Suez canal for a week now reported to be freed. Stick the Ever Given Container Ship in Lake Erie! It's wedged between Point Pelee and Cleveland. (Boat not to scale.)
Over to the OPL to pick up some movies. Nice walk to town. More sunshine today than yesterday. New book: Ohio.
Turn on CNN when I'm back home. My heart sinks... The CDC director - Dr. Walensky - gives warning of Impending Doom.

zondag 28 maart 2021

zondag 28 maart 2021 A really weird midnight movie - Off Beat Cinema - UFO: Target Earth. Scientists encounter shape-shifting aliens from a flying saucer trapped on the bottom of a lake. They can’t get enough thrust to overcome the gravity of this galaxy.
Pete Davidson on NFTs... Even after watching this, I am completely lost when it comes to understanding what an NFT is or why they’re selling for millions of dollars. Guest appearance: rapper Jack Harlow. It's a rainy day. Nice chance to start a new series - The Irregulars. Crime. Intrigue. Drama. The Supernatural... I'm going to enjoy this! The Irregulars Cast & Character Guide.
Gusty winds! Yes, indeed. Biking against 16MPH+ winds is tough.
More sun tomorrow, please. Spending a little time exploring Columbus virtually. Victorian Village has changed over 40 years. It's well developed. It still looks pretty and... charming.

zaterdag 27 maart 2021

zaterdag 27 maart 2021 Les Soviétiques sur la lune! Jamais!
Midnight: For All Mankind. The only real source of entertainment our astronauts have on the Moon base is a videotape containing six episodes of The Bob Newhart Show. What if!?! Hi, Bob.
With the Texas drawls in For All Mankind, I dreamt that I was in a gay bar in the Montrose neighborhood. Lots of cowboy hats! It reminded me of Rumors Cabaret on good ol' Railroad in B'ham.
Walmart is busy. Usually, I shop there on weekdays, but I love their mini-pies. Got some hummus, too. It kinda crazy there on a Saturday. Drop off groceries. Out for some sunshine. Tourists are visiting Oberlin... and they have a tendancy to forget to wear their masks. Sheez! The magnolias in Tappan Square are starting to flower.
Oh, Robby! You're the best robot ever! I LUV you soooooo much!
Did you think I would watch Forbidden Planet? Again? Ha! Watch a Sci-Fi animated space comedy-drama television series - Final Space.

vrijdag 26 maart 2021

vrijdag 26 maart 2021 JHC! Park Cannon: Georgia State Lawmaker Arrested Protesting Voting Restriction Bill. Why are you arresting her? The late Rep. John Lewis: Get in good trouble - necessary trouble - and help redeem the soul of America.
NO WATER FOR VOTERS: GA GOP PASSES EXTREME BANS. All these attacks against democracy! President Biden: What I’m worried about is how un-American this whole initiative is.
Turn on Stephanie Miller. Frangela talk about the Georgia GOP. They bring the Fire Fire Fire today on #FridaysWithFrangela. They're going to happily cater the voting lines in the next GA election. Thanks for getting all of our weekends off to a great start, ladies!
Speaking of fire... Lil Nas X Breaks the Internet After Giving Satan a Lap Dance in Fiery New Music Video. Wild, mind-bending, technicolored video! Call me by your name?
Tuesday, I was mourning for Pete and The Shootings In Boulder. On that day, Biden was in Columbus. I was 115 miles away from Ohio Dems. I would have enjoyed greeting President Biden at the airport.

donderdag 25 maart 2021

donderdag 25 maart 2021 Nice dream: Cole Sprouse is my boyfriend.
This morning, I listen to an interview with Logan Ezra Smith, 20. CNN: A King Soopers barista hid his coworker behind trash cans to keep her safe during the shooting. He doesn’t think the images of the shooting victims will ever leave his mind.
It's cloudy but warm enough (60°F). Bike ride out to the country.
These Free Range chickens - along the bike trail - have it good. According to Google, they're Australian black Orpingtons.
Back to town to order some lunch from Aladdin's. Falafel with hummus, greens, tomatoes, turnips, and pickles... YUM! Picnic in Tappan Square. Signs with the OC's white squirrel are everywhere!
Illusive! One of these days, I'm going to see a real Albino Squirrel.
Is Mike having a bad day? Is his brain going to explode? Crow bites him, and Servo tasks him so much... MST3K: The Undead.

woensdag 24 maart 2021

woensdag 24 maart 2021 Pete was a good cat. He lived in Bellingham with a dog and two other cats, but he was the king of the house. Often, I would house-sit for my friends. He'd greet me when I came over. Bless his heart. He quickly got old and sick, and he was put to sleep. My heart is broken. I will miss my friend, Pete.
Sunrise: 7:26 AM, and it's already 57° when I take my morning walk. WTSQ is playing U2's Mysterious Ways. I love all of Achtung Baby. Close up view of 534 Morgan Street, a lovely little house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
If things work out as planned, I'll get my second vaccine on April 6th. I'll be immunized by April 20th. My biggest wish is to travel... to see my old friends in WA. In fact, I dreamt that I went to a fun party at the Columbia Center. I've never been to the Sky View Observatory.
By the end of the day, it's up to 73°. Greetings from RPB.
Travato! It's a luxury mini-RV. Let's go explore America!

Three years later, the kids with March For Our Lives still strive for a safer America... free from gun violence. The nightmare continues. Colorado Supermarket Shooting Leaves 10 Dead. A man with a gun starts shooting. What would do? Ryan Borowski describes the shooting.

maandag 22 maart 2021

maandag 22 maart 2021 Midnight - For All Mankind. I was 12-years-old when Neil Armstrong stepped on the Moon. In this alternative universe, the Soviet Union beats the United States to the Moon.
Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber is interviewed on CNN about the state of emergency in his city. Gov. Ron DeSantis has bragged that their lovely state is an oasis of freedom during the pandemic. Now, the stir-crazy are flocking to FLA's restriction-free beaches and nightlife. Okay! So, Miami Beach is literally a Hot Mess!
This is an unexpected pleasure! Hal Sparks is co-hosting TSMS. YAY!  Astronomical Twilight: 5:56 AM. Early morning walk under the stars. (No Moon.) Ursa Major and Scorpius are prominent. More nature to enjoy when the temp goes up to 66°F. Westwood Cemetery looks sunny and cheerful, but the OGC is empty. Where are the golfers?
Happy 90th birthday William Shatner!

zondag 21 maart 2021

zondag 21 maart 2021 Midnight movie - MST3K: City Limits. Toned, tanned and terrific... John Stockwell reads his Richie Rich comics.
The film's hero is a motorcycle cowboy who fights against the establishment. Anarchy can be fun!
Smuckers jam pouring out of evil Robbie Benson. He dies.
On a walk for a Sunday Sunrise (7:31 AM). The birds are happily singing. The rooster on Prospect Street crows, too.
Flights of fantasy... CLE to ORD $207 round-trip on United. Take the Blue Line to d'town Chicago. Stay at the somewhat bohemian FOUND Hotel in the lovely River North neighborhood.
White House concerned over conservative vaccine skepticism as misinformation spreads online. CNN discusses these issues. Donie O'Sullivan gets a lot of views for his report. Absolutely 100% perfect weather today. Another cloudless sky. We're into the mid 60s. I'm out to enjoy it... like everyone else in Ohio!
End of the day movie. End of the world movie - 2012. Charlie Frost's animation about the end of the world is funny, amazing and to-the-point distressing. Galaxy - Sun - Earth. BOOOOOOM!

zaterdag 20 maart 2021

zaterdag 20 maart 2021 Henry Cavill, man! Everyone knows that I have to watch Zack Snyder's Justice League... all 4 hours!
But first, I need to finish Netflix's I Am Not Okay With This. Whoa! A girl with super-natural powers! It's a humorous take on teenage angst, but the ending is shockingly very Carrie-like. Sleeping through most of the morning, I'm missing the first day of Spring. Eventually, I get outside. It's another amazing cloudless day but warmer than yesterday (52°F). I remember Daffodil Day at Pike Place Market. (Sad. No celebration like that here.)
Imagine Spring 5 billion years from now. The sun will be a red giant, and the solar system will look completely different. We will be celebrating Spring on Saturn's moon Titan.
