vrijdag 31 mei 2019

vrijdag 31 mei 2019 Break out the mimosas and bagels! After 14 years on the air, it's the last show for Bill Press. Peter and Bill are dressed up. So many guests! I'll miss you. Good luck guys!
Bill Press was an outlet for some incredibly talented people. One of my favorite moments was when Alan Pyke was on the show with that pink cap. They talked about the World Cup and immigration policies. But I discovered Alan - so funny and so smart.
Bill's guests seem to feel comfortable. A sweet tweet of appreciation.
Walking into town, I notice guys working on top of Severance Hall. Crash! Boom! Down goes the tile on the roof. Tear Down The House.

donderdag 30 mei 2019

donderdag 30 mei 2019 Last night, I watch Splendor In The Grass. It's about our friends Natalie Wood and Warren Beatty in a classic drama, romance film. And it's Gary Lockwood in a shower scene.
Mueller remarks push House Democrats toward impeachment inquiry. Interesting edition of Rachel Maddow. Restless night. Trevor Noah runs down Robert Mueller's non-answer. Even Yoda would find Mueller’s linguistic contortions a little confusing. Good show, Noah!
Too much politics! But I'm up for Bill Press. I like Alan Pyke. He's smart and funny... covering issues about poverty and the social safety net at Think Progress.
The OC students are gone, but they left junk outside. Is that ok?
Into town to shop for a book. What's my next read? Another political bio? The Truths We Hold by U.S. Senator and candidate for president Kamala Harris. (Perhaps.) #BigIdeas
I want to see Rocketman after watching the interview of Taron Egerton on Jimmy Kimmel. Isn't there always an uncle? Yes!

woensdag 29 mei 2019

woensdag 29 mei 2019 Anne Helm, Gary Lockwood and Basil Rathbone are in MST3K: The Magic Sword. Joel and the Bots go medieval.
I feel bad for the 6 knights who follow Sir George. They get killed off by the 6 curses. Who wants to see my magic sword? Turn on Bill Press. A town hall yesterday in Grand Rapids gets a lot of attention. Applause! Truth to power! Constituents give Justin Amash standing ovation taking on Donald Trump.
Watch Pompeii. Milo soon develops a friendship with rival Atticus. As the gladiators battle in the last battle, Mount Vesuvius erupts.
There's Kit Harington... showing off those luscious abs again.

dinsdag 28 mei 2019

dinsdag 28 mei 2019 David Hasselhoff was 26 when he did Starcrash. That's my midnight movie... mocked via MST3K.
Only a few minutes of sleep. Up at 6AM to watch Prometheus. Poor Logan Marshall-Green... Indeed, poor everyone. Space archaeologist Charlie Holloway gets alienated.
It's a steamy 82°F with 60% humidity. It hits me when I leave my air-conditioned apartment. While riding my bike around Oberlin, the bell tolls at Noon at Finney Chapel. Yikes! It's very loud! Back home again. My shirt is soaked through and through with sweat. Later, we got lightning and thunder! Thanks to Thor!

maandag 27 mei 2019

maandag 27 mei 2019 Going to Commencement was fun. The kids would cheer for every name called.
They threw their caps into the air. Now what, kids?
I got some Uinta Clear Daze beer at the store. The juicy IPA.

zaterdag 25 mei 2019

zaterdag 25 mei 2019 I just had one of those Auntie Em moments… I’m riding my bike, and the sky suddenly just goes dark. STORM! 😳
I'll give you Auntie Em... and your little dog, too! (Cackle) There's nothing like a green monster to make you ride faster down the pike.
Turn on Hal Sparks RPM.

vrijdag 24 mei 2019

vrijdag 24 mei 2019 Brandon Tenold - Reviewer/Riffer/Lover of strange films. Last night, I had fun watching his reviews on his YouTube channel - Brandon's Cult Movie Reviews. Thanks for the Top 10 Godzillas. ‘For the good of the country’: Pelosi hopes Trump family or staff stage an intervention. He's crazy! 37 psychiatrists and mental health experts talk about this. Read The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump.
It's Commencement 2019! And Oberlin College is setting things up.
It's a sea of white chairs. I want to join the kids on their BIG DAY.
Watch Red Dawn 2012. North Korean troops invade the U.S. and take over Spokane. A band of freedom fighters - the Wolverines - fight against the invaders. Iraq War veteran (Chris Hemsworth) leads the fight. Marines never die, they just go to hell and regroup.
In the movie, it's weird to see KOMO News on the TV and a Seattle snow globe. Uff da. I didn't expect a traitor among the Americans.

donderdag 23 mei 2019

donderdag 23 mei 2019 Everyone is talking about Trump's Tantrum. The cover on the NY Daily News: Snit Hits The Fan. Nicely done!
Weather! They warned us. A strong front passes through Ohio this AM.
I find Revenge of the Sith at the OPL. It feels like a Star Wars day. I love the Battle of Coruscant. Palpatine! I want to watch The Expanse again. Hi, I'm Jim. He's stuck in jail, but he will be liberated... beyond belief.

woensdag 22 mei 2019

woensdag 22 mei 2019 Midnight movie - Airplane! again. I laugh out loud watching Robert Hays trying to control the crazy airplane.
Restless night. Dreams about going to the airport, losing my tickets and missing my flight. But I'm up and ready for Stephanie Miller. Long live the Sexy Liberal Army... Vive La Résistance!
Pete Buttigieg (You're my guy!) Gets Standing Ovation at Fox News Town Hall. Articulate. Intelligent. Compassionate. Competent. Back in Bellingham (Among The Worst Cities In America), it's Cottonwood Seed Season... and they hate it! I didn't know that you could burn them. Take care with that. Eggplant and polenta casserole. My first use of my apartment's oven and my mom's non-stick biscuit pan. It's OK. My polenta didn't melt. I could have used olives and mushrooms.
Lots to watch on Netflix. Arrow? I chose The Society... and the love of Grizz & Sam. Good kiss!

dinsdag 21 mei 2019

dinsdag 21 mei 2019 Like Bill Nye said in his F-bomb rant - The planet's on (expletive) fire. I'm not optimistic for my friends in the Northwest. Drought emergency declared over nearly half of Washington.
A few sprinkles and a cool 55°F for Oberlin. Dan and I spend some time at Lorain County Job and Family Services. I'm treated to lunch at the Brickyard. The Portabella Veggie Burger is yummy - $13.99.
On the Red Carpet at Cannes! What's happening? Simon Clair talks about this fun festival... and a little about Climax. In theatres everywhere? Cannes and China, the battle for world movie markets.

maandag 20 mei 2019

maandag 20 mei 2019 Rasmus is a force to be reckoned with. A black energy comes from his body, killing everyone. Is he becoming a monster? Evil? Watch Season 2 of The Rain.
Denmark is under quarantine
Rasmus doesn't mean any harm. But he knows that he can't take the cure. He's stuck. I feel so sorry for him.

zondag 19 mei 2019

zondag 19 mei 2019 Funday Sunday movie day. Airplane! Oh, stewardess! I speak jive. Jus' hang loose, blood. She gonna catch ya up on da rebound on da med side. And See You Yesterday. An All-Too-Real Time-Travel Fantasy.

zaterdag 18 mei 2019

zaterdag 18 mei 2019 Saturday morning movie - MST3K: Wizards of the Lost Kingdom. How do you lose a whole kingdom? Check in the car. Did you guys leave it in the car?Jonah Heston and Crow T. Robot.
A young novice wizard named Simon joins forces with an aging warrior to regain control of his kingdom from the evil sorcerer Shurka. Amazingly sunny! It's up to 85°F. Feels like 89° with 60% humidity. The OC kids are packing up, and moving out. I'm a little sad. 🙁
Up to Johnny's Carryout for the first time. They have Hakutsuru! How civilized! My favorite brand of sake... only $11.99.
Home to cool off. I ❤️ Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets.

vrijdag 17 mei 2019

vrijdag 17 mei 2019 The Future of the Universe is interesting. How will the Universe meet its end? After some trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion of years, the concept of time already seems irrelevant. The Black Hole Era is my favorite. And what about the Fate of the Earth? I feel like Apocalypse - immortal and invincible! Well... I mean X-Men: Apocalypse.
Apocalypse... Always the same, and now all this. No more stones. No more spears. No more slings. No more swords. No more weapons! No more systems! No more! No more superpowers... So much faith in their tools, in their machines. You can fire your arrows from the Tower of Babel, but you can never strike god!. Stan Lee! The X-Men series is finally coming to a close with Dark Phoenix.

donderdag 16 mei 2019

donderdag 16 mei 2019 Up at 2:00AM. Oh! It's 11:00PM Pacific, so I turn on KING 5 for news and weather. They need rain. Then the Stephanie Miller rebroadcast. Jill Wine-Banks on the show! Down to the Oberlin Public Library to pick up some videos. By Noon, it really feels like Summer. I need a lighter shirt.
I would really like to know what these trees are called.
They're all over Tappan Square. Is it just an Oberlin thing? The blossoms are finally falling, but the bees are enjoying themselves.
I'm almost afraid to check the news. Reporter: "Mr. President, are we going to war with Iran?" President Trump: "Hope not." I love my new Computer Center. The speakers are on the floor, but it works.
Escape to Cannes! Electric 4-minute ovation for Rocketman.
