woensdag 30 september 2020

woensdag 30 september 2020 Would you shut up, man? Joe Biden laments to President Trump, as the president interrupts him. This is so unpresidential. JB and I watch the debate. Trump is destroying himself. What an unhinged psychopath he is!
I take my iPhone with me listening to the analysis on MSNBC from Rachel (Perhaps we could also debate by mail) and Joy Reid (That was unlike anything I've ever seen covering politics). The fresh air smells good. The sky is clear, and I can see Cygnus. Back home, I watch Conan The Destroyer where heads get lopped with a swing of a sword. Now that's how you solve your problems.
It's hard to believe. It's the last dawn of September year 2020.
It's 12 noontime. Turn on France 24 to get the international point of view of last night's debate. Kethevane Gorjestani reports live from Cleveland, OH. (Not from Washington DC.)
I contribute my vote to their poll: Who do you think won this first US presidential debate? I wonder who is voting here!?!
Trevor Noah: Chris Wallace... Thank you for your service. And I hope you have a lot of money for your therapy.

dinsdag 29 september 2020

dinsdag 29 september 2020 Paul B. tells us that he's going on hiatus for a while. I love listening to his story. I know how much time, energy and love he puts into his Geography Now project, but I understand why he wants to focus on his mom. I also understand his love-hate about the city... the City of Angels. Turn on AM 950 for the David Pakman Show. Well... Welcome to Trumpistan. Will our democracy hold? It's the story of a boy and his robot. Watch Real Steel.
Not much sleep last night. Nevertheless, I seem to have enough energy to get all around Oberlin by foot and by bike. Great Biden sign! (Behind it... a sign which says Grab Him By The Ballot.)
The weather is cooler today. Nice! Sometimes, the clouds look dramatic. Giles Waldo Shurtleff is a local, anti-slavery hero memorialized in Oberlin. He wears a mask now-a-days.
This is Mike in a mask. (I know... My hat is crooked. Sorry.)
Trump and Biden are both in Cleveland supposedly taking a tour. The debate is at Case Western Reserve University.

maandag 28 september 2020

maandag 28 september 2020 Wake up, Hercules. Wake Up. Midnight movie - MST3K: Hercules and the Captive Women.
Sunrise: 7:24 AM. I have Pyle South Amherst Road to myself.
Nice to march down the road to Icky Thump... Icky Trump.
The Most Admired People In The World: Barack and Michelle Obama. This story won't upset Trump. (Right?) Barack Obama was notably more admired than Trump. Greta Thunberg #18.
Confession... I loved Julie and The Phantoms. It's like a mixture of High School Musical and Bewitched. The music and magic is fun for me. A Ghost Romanance and a Season 2? I hope!
We're not in a drought, but it seems like we haven't had any rain for a while. Nice! It cools thing off.

zondag 27 september 2020

zondag 27 september 2020 Turn on BBC. Interesting story on Outlook: Vietnam's first family of rock ‘n’ roll.
Politics and tactics... What Dems Can Do To Delay And Derail. Democratic voters and activists are pressing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) to do everything to stop Trump’s Supreme Court nomination.
Nice morning ride out to the country on Quarry Road. Stiff breezes slow me down. Buckeyes are falling by the bucket in Tappan Square.
Back home. Turn on AM Joy. David Hogg is on a panel with other young people talking about Amy Coney Barrett. Love listening to David. I hope he runs for office someday!!!
M. Night Shyamalan's movie Signs still creeps me out! Are Crop Circles real?!? Such a bizarre phenomenon. Protect me, JB!
Everyone! Put your tin foil hats on NOW!

zaterdag 26 september 2020

zaterdag 26 september 2020 Jason and Craig get silly in the 2008 Romance, Comedy movie Zack And Miri Make A Porno.
Another raunchy movie - Waiting. This scene between veteran waiter Ryan Renolds (Monty) and newby John Francis Daley (Mitch) is precious! I really think that you need to ask yourself one simple question. [pauses] How do you feel about frontal male nudity? Unhack your brain! Turn on Hal Sparks. He takes a call from a guy in Seattle. Hal: Is Seattle still on fire? Caller: Yeah. It's burning like Rome... only we have micro brews. Zoltan!
It's a warm Fall day. Outside for a lot of fresh air. Watching some the leaves fall and blow down the street with the breeze. Love the Japanese Thimbleweed.
That Ireland t-shirt! Eight years later, I'm still wearing it.

vrijdag 25 september 2020

vrijdag 25 september 2020 It's a beautiful day. Trump booed! Michael Alden Hadreas (born September 25, 1981). Happy birthday!

donderdag 24 september 2020

donderdag 24 september 2020 I have larks' tongues, wrens' livers and chaffinch ready for my movie - Monty Python's Life of Brian.
I love the Blood and Thunder Prophet : [screaming] Throughout the lands, there will be a great rubbing of parts. Yeeah... And the Boring Prophet: ...there shall, in that time, be *rumors* of things going astray, errrm. I can relate to those times (now).
Thanks, Eric Idle! Because Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life has been playing in my brain all morning... until I heard It's All Gonna Be OK by Ron Gallo on WTSQ. Is this Optimistic Nihilism? Switch to AM 950 for Stephanie Miller. What a show! Love the interview with the great Brian Karem. He brings it every single time. His question to Trump about The Peaceful Transfer Of Power was historic! Trump is a wannabe dictator, he’s going to cheat to win the election. The interview with Brian is so powerful that it really blows my mind! I'm so glad that it was posted on YouTube. South Hall's burning bush - Euonymus alatus. Fall is here!

Midnight - 1998 American epic war film Saving Private Ryan.

dinsdag 22 september 2020

dinsdag 22 september 2020 I wish that Trump would leave Ohio alone. He had one of his super-spreader events yesterday in Swanton, Ohio (97.1% White). As the U.S. hits 200,000 COVID-19 deaths, Trump tells an Ohio rally the coronavirus 'affects virtually nobody' Attendees booed Gov. Mike DeWine (R), catching the president by surprise.
September Equinox in Oberlin, Ohio, USA is on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at 9:30 am EDT. Very cold in the morning - 40°F. I need my gloves and a scarf. Eventually, it warms up to 71°F. Nice to hear a classic U2 song on WTSQ - Two Hearts Beat As One (1983). Yesterday, I saw a photo of young drummer Larry Mullen smiling for the camera in U2's first TV appearance in 1978. He was only 17. Bless his heart!
In Honor of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, flags should be lowered immediately and remain at half-staff until sunset on the date of interment, which has not been determined.

maandag 21 september 2020

maandag 21 september 2020 I am completely swept away by the documentary My Octopus Teacher. Monday is Movie Day! Congrats, Percy! You are the son of Poseidon. Watch Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.
Then it's The Babysitter: Killer Queen. Five Things To Love About The Babysitter: Killer Queen. I love it! Especially enjoy watching Cole and Phoebe dancing with the demons.
Cole and Phoebe make a great team! They ooze chemistry. They work together to defeat the Satanic blood cult led by his old baby sitter.

zondag 20 september 2020

zondag 20 september 2020 Follow me into the desert. As thirsty as you are. Chris Cornell... God! You lived up the street from me. Black Days is even cooler now (2020). Unbelieveable! This talented singer used to live up the street from me in Seattle. I think that Chris Cornell would want us to vote. Get us out of these Black Days.

zaterdag 19 september 2020

zaterdag 19 september 2020 Flags at half-staff. Candlelight vigils. Hundreds mourn Ruth Bader Ginsburg outside Supreme Court.
May her memory be for a blessing. On the wall of Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s Supreme Court chamber, there hangs a reference to the Book of Deuteronomy: Justice, justice you shall pursue.
Back to blogging again. The Break Is Over!
Humphrey Bogart's most significant romantic lead role was with Ingrid Bergman in Casablanca (1942), which earned him his first nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actor. People say that this is the best scene in the movie. Vive la France! Vive la France! Down to the OPL to borrow this vintage gem. I wish that I could keep it!!! Aux armes, citoyens, Formez vos bataillons... To escape the cruel history of oppressive rule, I switch to MST3K. But things seem to be worse! Joel and the Bots are playing hide and seek with the elusive and inexplicable forces which control the universe. Crow wants to play hopscotch in MST3K: Jungle Goddess.

vrijdag 11 september 2020

vrijdag 11 september 2020 I'm taking a break for two weeks. Ciao.

donderdag 10 septmber 2020

donderdag 10 septmber 2020 Midnight movie - MST3K: Crash of the Moons. Rocky Jones (Richard Crane) and crew take action when an impending celestial collision threatens two civilizations... and the baby is saved!
Dear Mr. Gaye, We are sorry to report that not much has changed since you recorded What's Going On in 1971. My heart aches, today ❤💔 Apocalyptic Orange Haze And Darkness Blanket California. Overcast skies. Fog as thick as pea soup. I'm wondering when this stuff is going to burn off. Maybe never!
He’s the most transparent president in history. The cross hanging around Kayleigh McEnany's neck should have gone up in flames! She's an accomplice. She's a liar and supports Trump's lies. There's no doubt. #TrumpKnew.

woensdag 9 september 2020

woensdag 9 september 2020 A little birthday present for myself - The World Almanac 2020. Thousands of facts right at my fingertips.
I really enjoyed Stephanie Miller's interview with John Dean about authoritarianism. He really does compare Trump with Hitler and Mussolini. Finally, authoritarian followers explained. Finishing Amazon's R-rated superhero series The Boys.
How ‘The Boys’ go bigger and deeper in Season 2.

Tuesday, September 8, 2020

dinsdag 8 september 2020

dinsdag 8 september 2020 It's an anti-hero group that we all want to root for - The Boys. Violent, shocking... irreverent, deliciously cynical. But the show - The Boys - brings me to Jane's Addiction which they play at the end of episode 3 - Get Some. I love Stop! Very nervous for Hughie in Good for the Soul!!! Homelander baptizes him, but would Hughie survive?!? Ezekiel is an elastic Christian superhuman who is secretly gay and leads a "Capes for Christ" campaign. Intense episode, man!
Sun's up at 7:02 am. Down to the OPL to return my movies. WTSQ is in my ears. Playing Air Guitar walking down College Street. I can't help it when hear Seven Nation Army! Find a beer awarded with the diplôme d'honneur... Heineken! A quality beer that goes well with Sea Salt & Vinegar potato chips.

maandag 7 september 2020

maandag 7 september 2020 Midnight movie - Hud. That'll be Hud... the arrogant, self-centered son of rancher Homer Bannon.
Today, I am free of labor. I am soooo retired! Today is the day to honor freedom from any work. Right? Labor Day. FREEDOM! Singin' In The Rain seems appropriate for our weather today.
I want to dance with Debbie Reynolds and the whole "flapper" chorus line when they do All I Do Is Dream of You. Legs! Legs! Legs! Kesslee: Eight, eight, the burning hate. Between Sunday and Monday there lies a day so dark it will devastate. It's a thundery, grungy day. It's been storming for 8 hours. In the year 2033, our whole planet has become a desolate, barren desert. The tyrant Kesslee rules the powerful and evil Water & Power Corporation. Tank Girl and her friends rise up to destroy the corrupt system. Go, Tank Girl!
