So, it's a cold dreary day in Bellingham. Boring-ham, WA. 98226. Even my street sounds boring. Wo-boring Street. Someone needs (maybe me) a coffee enama. HOT! Sometimes, I feel lonely in Bellingham. Watch The Martian. He's lonely, too. I can identify with that.

Tahoma students head to constitution competition. A group of Covington students will represent Washington at the "We the People" competition in Washington D.C. How exciting for them.
Adventure on bus #49... I'm the only passenger on the bus heading d'town. I get to see the warehouse district of Bellingham. I should have taken a photo of this gloomy neighborhood. Does anyone really live around here? If I feel like steak and a beer... Jeckyl and Hyde.
A little shopping. Rush from the Co-op to bus home. What happened to the #331 @ 10:40? Nothing, nada, rien! Rien de rien!
Well... You gotta love it. Back at my place. Check Space News. I love that little rover on Mars. NASA's Curiosity Rover Snaps Another Stunning 'Selfie' On Mars. I salute you!

donderdag 28 januari 2016

donderdag 28 januari 2016 On this day 30 years ago... Space Shuttle program: STS-51-L mission: Space Shuttle Challenger explodes after liftoff, killing all seven astronauts on board. Breaking apart 73 seconds into its tenth mission. I watched it on my little black & white portable TV at 954 Broadway East apartment. And Now for Something Completely Different! Here comes the Calvin Klein spring 2016 campaign. I flaunt in #mycalvins, Justin Bieber says.
Shucks! I miss the adventure to the library with the pre-schoolers, but they tell me about it when I visit them at lunchtime. They heard Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons at story time. The gods give us decent weather for outside time in the evening. Wonderful! They use the blue plastic bowling pins as Lightsabers. They prefer the blue ones... the color of the Jedi knights. Star Wars is sacred again!
Late at home, I watch And Now for Something Completely Different!

woensdag 27 januari 2016

woensdag 27 januari 2016 Turn on Stephanie Miller. Tragedy plus timing equals comedy. Tarp Man Dead! Bob Cesca calls in and chats with Steph about the crazy right wing. I take a group outside. A mild 58 ° and a bit breezy. A couple of my co-workers go home sick. Short-staffed at lunch time and naps. Oy! We muddle through it somehow. But the day flies by. We hardly get any rain. Lucky. We're in the donut hole.
Home to watch X-Men: Last Stand. Poor little Warren. Ashamed of his mutation, he tries to cut his wings off.

In Bellingham, we wear shorts in January. (We're weird that way.) We don't expect any snow. Actually, I hope for a rather sunny day. I can ride my bike. 45.2 °F (It's way above freezing.)
ALL SPORTS CANCELLED! Star Lord! OMG! GOTG!

vrijdag 22 januari 2016 Democracy Now! The War & Peace Report. Pink Floyd's Roger Waters Launches "Campaign to Close Guantánamo" for Obama's Last Year in Office
They talk about efforts to close the prison. Guantánamo Remains Open for Torture, Seven Years After Obama Signed Order to Close Prison. Beautiful rendition of We Shall Overcome by Roger Waters. Turn on Stephanie Miller. It's a Fugelsangian Friday. Yeah!
Wil Ohmsford in The Chronicles Of Shannara. I manage to watch the first episode. Let the quest begin.
Rainy, stay-inside day. We keep the kids busy with shaving cream and building. My builders...
Who left shaving cream hand prints on the mirror? (Next to the Coat Hooks of Death.) (I saw a dangerous encounter with those stupid coat hooks. I swear my heart stopped.)
I love the kids, but I'm really REALLY tired. I want to go home, but we have to clean up the place. Sweep, mop, vacuum and take out the garbage. My back is killing me. Bus #331 is full of crazy people, and the sane ones just endure the trip. A lot of people get off at Alabama & St. Paul. Home. Watch CBSN. Massive Snowstorm!
Stunning image of the blizzard seen from space.

woensdag 20 januari 2016

woensdag 20 januari 2016 Watch France 24. I love it when US politics gets on the French news. Donald and Sarah together. Incroyable! Former VP candidate Palin endorses Trump in 2016 race.
Sarah in beast mode... loud and screechy. France 24 covers the papers. NY Daily News: Sarah Palin officially endorses Donald Trump. Reminds me of Zigra - a group of hammy, screechy aliens who want to take over the planet. Creatures of the Earth, surrender at once!
Down to work. Busy day, but we seem to be organized... and we can keep up. The sun peeks out for recess. I read Five Little Kittens for the pre-schoolers at lunchtime.
It's a magical nap time with the toddlers. Most of them sleep past 3 o'clock. Take my lunch at the Food Co-op. A cup of their tomato coconut milk soup. Yummy. And I check the HuffPo. This seems like an awesome discovery - Researchers Are Pretty Sure They've Found A New Planet In Our Solar System. No clean-up duties tonight. I'm with the kids until they go home. Then at my place, I enjoy watching KING 5 on the new TV. Good for Caltech for discovering a Planet (with a "P"). In honor of you, I go to bed watching War Of The Worlds... with Caltech (fictional) alumni Dr. Clayton Forrester.

I spend lunchtime with the 3 pre-schoolers. Then things get difficult with the toddlers at their nap time. They're totally out of sync. Spend my lunchtime at the library. The rest of the day passes quickly. I get a burrito to take home at Casa Que Pasa.
I don't need sour cream, but it seems that they slather it on generously. Back to my place. The TV is set up and working in the living room. Behold The Weather Channel on 78. Winter Storm Jonas?
It's a mild 44.3 °F with a few sprinkles in Bellingham.

maandag 18 januari 2016

maandag 18 januari 2016 On Democracy Now, they air a newly discovered recording of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. On December 7, 1964, days before he received the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo, King gave a major address in London on segregation, the fight for civil rights and his support for Nelson Mandela and the anti-apartheid struggle in South Africa. I'm the only person to get on the #540 to d'town. It's quiet in the city. The banks are closed. I notice that a lot of people are having brunch. The restaurants are busy. I'm with the pre-schoolers. We play outside, paint, read stories... and the kids play with shaving cream. They know that it goes on my face...
Then they cover my arms with shaving cream. A little goes on the table. Noxzema is too fragrant. Fun day. I love the low numbers. Since a lot of kids go home early, I go home early, too. Left-over General Tsao chicken for dinner. Watch Anne and Jake. Aaaaaahhhhhh! Go, #73!

Then we head out to the playground. We notice a lot of yellow school buses pulling up to the Mount Baker Theater. Children going to a show. Cirque Ziva – Performed By Golden Dragon Acrobats. Diapers, lunches and naps. Friday Fatigue... The kids go fast asleep at nap time. Hoping for an extra playground time, but some are set on a frenzy of cleaning and disinfection protocols. Let me tell you... after 30 years of experience... There is NO DISEASE CONTROL in child care. You are deluding yourselves if you think that you can get rid of the sick germs.
God help me... I ride on the craziest #331 bus EVER. Four bicycles on the bus. Doh! That guy is too drunk to even put his bike on. Michael delivers the new futon. Let's see how I can sleep. One short vid before night-night. Anne And Jake.
