It starts with immigration reform. Some conservatives give qualified support for President Obama's proposal, others are more skeptical... OF COURSE! Rep. Today, President Obama will wade cautiously into the debate over U.S. immigration reform, seeking to build momentum for a new bipartisan plan to offer a pathway to citizenship for the country’s 11 million illegal immigrants. Over to Dolphins for lunchtime and naps. Things go rather easily. Lunch is a mess (as usual). The kids seem to really want to sleep. They're all out by 12:55. The Seahorses, on the other hand, are more of a challenge. They're babbling. Very wiggly. They're not all asleep until 1:55. Over to Sea Otters. One throws up. I feel germs pouring over me. Someone loses his appetite. Poor guy has a fever. He conks out on his mat. Naps are easy, and they sleep in. Streetcar to d'town. #10 bus up to Belmont. Short wait for a haircut at Rudy's. "Away with it!" Back home... just in time to avoid the rain.

Walk up to Denny. #40 bus to SLU. Busy day at work. Inna and I cover for some planning time. The kids play with markers and stickers. Then we dance to some music. The rain is so light that we linger outside on the playground. They love sliding and getting their bottoms wet. We change clothes inside. Over to Dolphins for an exciting hour of nap-wrestling. Naps are a struggle with this group. We need extra help. Singing seems to help some of them calm down. Over to Seahorses. Everyone sleeps except one. Over to Sea Otters for my last hour. The kids wake up acting silly. The streetcar wisks me away. I'm glad that it's a quick ride. Turn on KOMO News. I don't like this report - Pedestrians being robbed at gunpoint in Capitol Hill.
I'd like to stay and relax. I need to go back to work for a training. Schlep myself back to work on the streetcar. Up to the Computer Lab to take an on-line class with 14 of my co-workers. I'm done in 48 minutes. We leave asking each other, "What was the sense of that?" I'm tired, but I walk all the way home. Turn on Hardball. "Hillary kicks butt!" says Chris Matthews.

After a couple breaks, I'm with the Dolphins until Noon while giving Cristin some planning time. We head outside for a while. They love it when I throw balls way up high into the sky... and they come crashing down to earth. I have lunch with them. They are the messiest group! I see Sam is having lunch with some of his kids. What an original idea. Nice!

Over to Starfish for their nap time. I take one non-napper to the Bike Room. She is an interesting conversationalist for a 2-year-old. Over to Sea Otters for the last two hours. It's their nap time. The Seahorses are an active group. A few of them seem interested in the big kids whizzing around the playground with their toy lawn mowers and bikes. It makes me dizzy. We move inside. Settle down with books and cars. Over to Sea Otters for lunchtime. Mellow group. It's nice that someone has set up the lunches and mats. Down to Seahorses for their nap time. I can get to sleep. I have never managed that before! Quiet time for everyone. We have a couple early risers. We play with the Doodle Boards. Such fun!
Streetcar to d'town. #10 up to Summit. I deliver my screen cap of Jeremiah to Jeremiah. Back d'town. #101 bus tunnel to Uwajimaya. Get some stuff - potato chips, rice noodle salad with shrimp, jalapeno tempura fish cake (spicy) and Sho Chiko Bai. Train back to d'town. Back at my place. Turn on The Cycle. Yay, Sheldon! Yay, New York State! Spaghettios with sliced franks for breakfast. Turn on Stephanie Miller. I laugh out loud as Steph and the mooks mock the new NRA Stand And Fight video. But, as usual, it just shows how ignorant and SICK the leadership of the NRA really is. Phooey on them. Visit Starbucks store #15625. Sip my soy hot chocolate while listening KOMO on my radio - President Obama Unveils Executive Action, Legislation Aimed At Gun Violence. I like how the President involves the children who wrote letters to him about their concerns. Switch to KUOW to hear the Reaction To The Gun Control Announcement. Phil Watson of the Second Amendment Foundation gets me riled. He's so mired in the talking points that he can't get out of his own BS. I believe the children are our future, so I head up to work. Spend a lot of time with the Sea Otters while their teachers take planning time.
What a fun day! The kids sit around me while we read books. Some like The Big Red Barn. They like to try and find the littlest things - the baby pig and the baby mice. Art project - STICKERS!!! Out on the playground we find some ice. We have a bubble party with the bubble gun. We use paint brushes to "paint' the playground. The kids beckon to the Moons & Stars on the other side of the fence. "Alex!" "Louis!" It's a shame to head inside on such a glorious-sunny-Winter day. But they follow me with the bubble gun. Settle down for lunch and naps. Over to Seahorses. They're having a nice calm nap time. Magical! Streetcar to d'town. I'm tired, so I head straight home. Of course, I click on The Cycle. Of course it's up to interpretation... Brains over guns... You decide. Does owning a gun change people? (How 'bout bubble guns?) They interview Spencer Gillis about his film GUN. Just before I go to bed... something from the conference this morning...

Take my coffee home. Turn on Stephanie Miller. Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) calls in to talk about President Obama’s press conference on the debt ceiling debate yesterday. I love the sound effects. Streetcar to work. Roam around covering breaks. Lunch set-up for Sea Otters. Over to the Seahorses. Nap time is a little rough. The kids want to play and goof off. It takes a while to settle them down, but we do it. Over to Sea Otters for my last hour. The kids sleep. IT's a magical nap time for them. Walk down Westlake to Whole Foods to pick up some food... because I'm not going to cook tonight. I focus my energy to clean the apartment for tomorrow's inspection... even though my back hurts. Curried potato salad for dinner. Watch movie - Star Trek: Nemesis. Ramming speed. "Brace for impact. Engage."

maandag 14 januari 2013 Very restless night. Watch MST3K - Viking Women And The Sea Serpent. Waffles. Waffles! More waffles! A group of lonely Viking women (and one stowaway - Todd) assemble a ship from a kit and set off across the sea to locate their missing menfolk.
Then it's Star Trek - The Doomsday Machine. I love Kirk's decisive "Blast regulations ..." to Spock's "Vulcans never bluff" scene.
Beans on toast for breakfast. Turn on Stephanie Miller. The Rude Pundit calls in to talk about Hitler’s history of actually relaxing gun laws. Walk to work with Barack Obama's press conference in my ear buds. Report - Obama demands quick action to raise debt limit. Hang out with the Dolphins while Cristin takes some planning time. We read books, do art and head outside to the frozen playground. The kids last less than 30 minutes. The Sea Otters and Seahorses seem a little more hardy. Charmaine takes her lunch break. The kids want "Daddy Bubbles." We head inside to warm up. I set up lunches while Patty reads stories. Over to Starfish for Pam's lunch. The kids are going down for naps. A couple of them conk out right away. Back to Dolphins. One-by-one, the kids wake up from their naps. We snuggle one the sofa. My last hour - the Sea Otters wake up. They're not sleeping in. One has a fever. Walk up to the 500 Mercer QFC. #3 bus to d'town listening to NPR - All Things Considered. It happened 50 years ago. Back again with the Sea Otters. The boys start stirring. They just rest on their mats. Then they browse through a thousand books. Michael picks me up today and drives me home. Walk down to 3rd & Union. Catch a #40 bus up to Highland. Walk along the southwest edge of Lake Union. Interesting day at work. My team leader gives me quite a positive review. Afterwards, I'm walking a foot above the floor. Down to Seahorses to give Kenn a lunch. We're out on the playground chasing bubbles. We're getting cold. "Let's going inside, Mike." "OK," I agree.
