vrijdag 31 maart 2017 SpaceX Launches And Lands The First Recycled Orbital Rocket Ever. I saw this live on CBS yesterday. Hearing all that cheering in the control room was awesome.
Interesting scenario: What would we do if the Galactic Empire invaded the Earth? Would we use nukes? Allen tells us all about it. The Rude Pundit is on Stephanie Miller.
Turn on HBO. Wow! Alexander Skarsgård's abs are totally insane in The Legend of Tarzan.
It's my 36th anniversary of my arrival in the great Pacific Northwest. March 31, 1981 - Greyhound station at 5th and Steward in Seattle. I celebrate it with a little bike ride down Cornwall Avenue in Bellingham. The trees have been in bloom since last week.

donderdag 30 maart 2017

donderdag 30 maart 2017 Midnight movie - Pacific Rim. Kaiju Jaeger... Pacific Rim begins by defining two new words. The first is “Kaiju”, which means giant beast in Japanese, and the second is “Jaeger”, which is German for hunter. Will Charlie Hunnam save the world? Catching up with Trevor Noah. Only 75,000 coal jobs in the USA. Forbes: Mass Employment In Coal Mining Is Never Coming Back, No Matter Trump's Promises Or Regulations. Thirty-six years ago, President Ronald Reagan is shot in the chest outside the Washington Hilton Hotel after a speech by John Hinckley, Jr.; three others are wounded in the same incident. The entire ordeal was caught on video and in now-iconic photographs.
It's already 4 AM. I can't sleep. Watch Jurassic World. Zach and Gray don't know how close the vicious and intelligent Indominus Rex is. Zach: You see? I told you. Your welcome. Up close and personal with four... dinosauruses. Gray: Ankylosaurus. We shouldn't be here. And there's five dinosaurs.... Look. One, two, three, four [points to the Indominus Rex reflection on the gyro sphere glass]. FIVE!
Speaking of carnivores. My roommate has $17 of pork in the frig.
I'm just snacking on nuts and raisins. I don't know what he does with all that crazy amount of meat. Will he get all Hannibal Lecter on me? I lived with him for more than a year. No threats yet.
In the afternoon, I went to the bank, to WinCo and to the Co-op. The clouds burn off, and it feels warm and sunny. Finally! After the thick clouds and rain and snow all this season... Relief!

Bussing around town, I stream the CBC News from Montréal on my iPhone - 88.5 FM. I love hearing the traffic reports. Métropolitaine from Boul Decarie to Blvd St Laurent stop and go traffic.

This scene surprised me a little. I'm thinking, "OK, kids. What are going to do?" Mission: Intimidate the Police Officer. Bo goes into Scripture and leads the kids in a gospel song to frighten off the interfering highway patrol officer. A little sleep. Up for an encore of A Prairie Home Companion. Trevor Noah talks with Chris Thile about his book Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood. Good stories. Short ride to Sunnyland Square. I'm into Humans. Decrepit, malfunctioning, outdated Odi comes to visit Dr. George Millican.
Over to Regal Cinemas Barkley Village 16 IMAX & RPX. Buttery salty popcorn. Evil concessions!
I join a friend and watch Logan. The near future - 2029 - looks very bleak. The director's subtle commentaries about Donald Trump perhaps. The seizures of Professor Charles Francis Xavier are the scariest.

Gotta make them cops think you're black.. Most of the day is spent with domestic duties - cleaning the bathroom and doing some laundry. I step into the world for a little bit. I feel too warm with the hoodie. It's 55.9 °F with the sun shining briefly. Too warm? What an odd concept when I can imagine the 90's in summer. The buzz in the news - an editorial from the Wall Street Journal with serious criticisms of President Trump for his “seemingly endless stream of exaggerations, evidence-free accusations, implausible denials and other falsehoods.”
WSJ Editorial: Trump Has a Credibility Problem, Most Americans ‘May Conclude He’s a Fake President’ I bet that this is circulating like crazy. My nephew tweets I am missing the integrity, dignity, and humility of Obama as our president more and more each day.

Let's watch Designated Survivor. Interesting scenario - Tom Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland), the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development is left as the Commander in Chief after an explosion during the State of the Union address kills the President and those in line of succession. A little family drama. His son - Leo - doubts that the President is really his father.

zaterdag 18 maart 2017 On the evening news... Midnight movie - Winter In Wartime. Drama · In the Nazi-occupied Netherlands, a teenage boy gets involved in the Dutch Resistance after coming to the aid of a wounded RAF pilot. Will the 13-year-old Michiel use the gun?
After I make and eat a sausage sandwich, I conk out. Up for Wait, Wait... Don't... With the upcoming budget cuts, they can't afford the rest of the title. I peek outside. It's pouring rain. Oh, weeeeell! I head into town. Nice to visit The Comics Place. Lots of Star Trek models and t-shirts. I like the t-shirts with the Bellingham flag... and the transgendered Hellboy at the front of the store.
It's been a while since I watched The Phantom Menace. I'm a little curious. How can a hyperdrive get a leak? “We can't go far. The hyperdrive is leaking.” Qui-Gon Jinn nodded. “We'll have to land somewhere to make repairs to the ship. What's out there?" How do you go from Naboo to Tatooine without the hyperdrive? “Tatooine. It’s small, poor, and out of the way. It attracts little attention. The Trade Federation has no presence there.”

Mingle with the students at Western Washington University.
My first view of daffodils this season. It's 53 ° and partly cloudy for my walk around campus. Listening to KUOW. Here & Now has a report about the unique and provocative graffiti artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. It seems appropriate as I see a lot of graffiti in this neighborhood. Basquiat Exhibit In Denver Offers Portrait Of The Artist's Early Period.
Let's watch Ellen. A kid after my heart... A map geek like me! At last, MST3K - The Pumaman.
