maandag 31 juli 2017

maandag 31 juli 2017 Watching more Shameless at midnight. I'm touched when Lip gives his 3-year-old brother Liam a hug.
Up for Bill Press. Interview with Dan Zak - Author of ALMIGHTY, a book reexamining America's love-hate relationship to the bomb.
Victor Frankenstein is on HBO. Starring James McAvoy as Victor Frankenstein and Daniel Radcliffe as Igor. Gruesome!
The sunshine and blue skies are a relief after watching such a dark movie. It's 74.7 °F and crystal clear. Bike downtown. Visit the bank - WECU - and the Food Co-op. Feeling the heat... Temperatures in Whatcom will be rising, but will records fall?

zondag 30 juli 2017

zondag 30 juli 2017 Viceroy, I don't want this stunted slime in my sight again! It feels like a Star Wars day. Anakin reminds Obi-Wan that he went in the nest of Gundarks to rescue Obi-Wan. I never get tired of that story. Attack Of The Clones.
I like using funky Texas Street to bike to Trader Joe's. I can sneak up on the store and avoid the crazy little parking lot. But I lock up my bike and walk downtown.
I take Caroline Street and zig-zag through the Lettered Streets. I find some sort of Purple Alien Tripod made of beachwood sitting in a web on "B" Street. Interesting sculpture.
D'town B'ham is quieter today. I'm glad. Some chillwave summertime music for us. Enjoy. Close your eyes / Open wide / Stop and clear your mind / Feel the crowd / Move in time / Surrender to the sound.

zaterdag 29 juli 2017 Up with WABC News. Looks nice in New York City. Yes, it's almost 3 AM Pacific. It's dark here, but dawn in NYC. Hello, skyline!
Over to Chicago's Progressive Talk WCPT for Hal Sparks Radio Program Mega-Worldwide. Hal's on HSRPM - YouTube, too.
A little bike ride into town for lunch. But I did a little walking, too. Just nice to plug into KEXP and walk. A fun disco thing by Todd Terje. Yay for the riders of the Tour de Whatcom! Finish!

vrijdag 28 juli 2017

vrijdag 28 juli 2017 Midnight movie - Doctor Strange.
John McCain casts decisive "no" vote on Obamacare repeal. This must have happened late last night. Listen to the gasps of surprise. Ride up to Lake Whatcom. A friendly reminder: Protect it. We drink it. I study the Watershed Map with much interest.

donderdag 27 juli 2017 Josh Dunn plays My Heart Will Go On.
I can't help but play Titanic. You have a gift, Jack.
What if she had Jack's baby. Way to go Chicago! Celebrate! It's 81° and partly sunny. Chicago hospital Cubs' babies. A Cubs World Series baby boom? Some parents and hospitals think so

woensdag 26 juli 2017

hair woensdag 26 juli 2017 Restless night. Midnight movie - Cinematic Titanic: The Doomsday Machine.
Up for Stephanie Miller. Live in studio this morning for all three hours... Malcolm Nance! They look like Men In Black with the glasses.
Downtown to Jes' for a buzz cut. They don't have air-conditioning. It would have been corny if it had not been so goddamned beautiful. This is Trudeau's vision of what a country can be. Justin Trudeau appears on the cover of The Rolling Stone. Is Canada's prime minister the free world's best hope? Justin Trudeau: The North Star.   Always progressing.  29 steps forward for Canada.
Transgender Army Vet Reacts to Trump. It's ironic that Trump who avoided going to Vietnam is stopping Trans people who want to serve. It's bigotry. Like Ellen says.  It's Hurtful, Baseless and Wrong.

dinsdag 25 juli 2017

dinsdag 25 juli 2017 Midnight movie - Cinematic Titanic E11 A Japanese sci-fi movie with an apocalyptic theme War of the Insects. Watching Shameless again. Jody Silverman becomes extremely attached to Sheila, calling her 'Mom'. Death Star I VS Death Star II... What's the Difference? Generation Tech - the best in the Galaxy - tells us all! $17 million against a $180 million production budget? Oy! That must hurt. Luc Besson's sci-fi epic Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is an intergalactic disappointment.

maandag 24 juli 2017

maandag 24 juli 2017 Such a good night's sleep! No back problems! Monday morning movie - Close Encounters Of The Third Kind. In the afternoon, The Pirates of Penzance with Kevin Kline as the Pirate King and Rex Smith as the handsome Frederic. I'm a Major General! What if the Borg show up? 7,000 Borg cubes! Call Darth Vader! Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering.

zondag 23 juli 2017

zondag 23 juli 2017 Sunday morning movie - MST3K: The Atomic Brain. Cute promo. The guys in jerseys line up for a photo (L to R): Simon Yates, Michael Matthews, Warren "Wawa" Barguil, and Chris Froome. Photograph: Benoit Tessier/Reuters.
I follow the peloton on the map... and on Twitter @LeTour. 88 km to go. Froome gets a beer!
People on top of the Arc de Triomphe! What a view they must enjoy! As the riders go down Place Charles de Gaulle.
Dylan Groenewegen defeats German Andre Greipel in a frantic sprint to the finish line on the Champs-Élysées. ‘Tired’ Bardet relieved to hold onto podium place. But This Day Belongs to Chris Froome. I really like the montage for Warren Barguil. What a fitting tribute! Warren Barguil remporte le Maillot à pois.

zaterdag 22 juli 2017

zaterdag 22 juli 2017 Yay! Midnight movie! MST3K - Wizards of the Last Kingdom II. Jonah and the Bots teach us how to be barbarians.
Today is the time trials at the Orange Vélodrome in Marseille, France. C'est le contre-la-montre final dans les rues de Marseille. Très jolie les rues de Marseille.
There’s plenty of empty seats in the stadium. Access is difficult. Checkpoint No1 is at Palais du Pharo at the 10.2km mark, while No2 is at the top of the ramping climb at Notre-Dame de la Garde (15.6km). Stage 20 Marseille - Marseille (22.5 km). I hear booing and whistling when Froome starts. That's not nice! Bodnar wins Marseille time trial, Froome retains the lead. I get to watch some of today's stage on KING5 tv, but I want to see the matinée of Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets. I've been anxiously waiting for this sci-fi thriller by Luc Besson for a while.
I like the little struggle Valerian has with his girlfriend Laureline on the simulated beach... without spilling his cocktail.
It's a fantastic adventure... coming from a vast and complicated Universe. In the 28th century, Agents Valerian and Laureline maintain order for the United Human Federation. Can I have a t-shirt?

vrijdag 21 juli 2017

vrijdag 21 juli 2017 Actually, I sleep past Midnight. Check out the latest from The Daily Show. All they had to do is to mock Trump, reading his words back verbatim from that messy NY Times interview. “All Kinds of Wrong”: Trevor Noah Looks at Trump’s Wild New York Times Interview. Tour de France - Etape 19. Embrun to Salon-de-Provence. It's a long ride 222.5 km. C'est loin! But the setting is beautiful. Mais c'est beau!
Oy! Another slimy goomba takes the podium LIVE. Is he slimy like a slimy mushroom? Yes! Anthony Scaramucci named the new White House communications director.
Attention: People of Earth. The Mysterians are taking over! The alien dome arises from the dirt. Flying saucers shoot down the Japanese air force. The heat rays from the Mysterian Dome are devastating! But the people of Earth fight back with their own weapon.

donderdag 20 juli 2017

donderdag 20 juli 2017 Midnight movie - La Bataille de Marathon... dans la plaine de Marathon en 490 avant Jésus-Christ. The intro is in French. The film is dubbed in English.
Expecting an exciting stage today. Les fans au rendez-vous à plus de 2 360m / 👍 It's already packed at the finish. Briançon to Col d'Izoard.
Warren Barguil catches Darwin Atapuma after putting in a ferocious shift. 1 km to go! ALLEZ WAWA! Barguil soldiers on. The King of the Mountains is lording it over his subjects on Col d’Izoard and grits his teeth as he heads for the finish line. Quel magnifique Tour de Warren Barguil! Warren Barguil wins the stage!
Happy Birthday Chris Cornell. They play you on KEXP! Up to the Co-op for lunch. Hijiki rice is yummy with seaweed, ginger and sesame seeds. During my walk I see deer sunbathing in a field, bumble bees fly out from a patch of heather, and a car pitched in a ditch. Bonne nuit. Allée du Barrage.

woensdag 19 juli 2017

woensdag 19 juli 2017 Midnight movie - Troy. Achilles looks down on the massive armada (Αρμάδα) from Greece. The war begins.
In the film, Briseis - priestess of the Temple of Apollo - is a cousin of the Trojan princes Hector and Paris, and falls in love with Achilles. Brad Pitt is hot! Police Academy is next. Steve Guttenberg was a hotty back in the 80's!
Back to Le Tour - Stage 17. Busy day for the riders. Crashes and another photo finish. Chris Froome extends narrow Tour de France lead as Roglic wins in Alps. Stage winner Primož Roglič descends the Col du Galibier. Photograph: Bryn Lennon/Getty Images.
My first visit to Best Buy in Bellingham. I think that I could have got a better deal for a charging cord for my iPhone. Is it really promoting violence? Rosie O'Donnell tweets link to Push Trump Off A Cliff game. I think that the game would feel oddly satisfying. Catching up with Matt + Blue. The trip to Solvang is wonderful, but watching an ostrich poop is yucky! WARNING! Jeg vil gerne et glas øl.

Tuesday, July 18, 2017

dinsdag 18 juli 2017

dinsdag 18 juli 2017 Midnight movie - JeruZalem. Two Americans girls join a handsome anthropology student on a tour of Jerusalem, arriving just as a terrifying biblical apocalypse begins to unfold. All recorded first-person on Glass. The final shot is eerie! Thousands of demons are seen flying above Jerusalem as military helicopters surround the scene and fires burn throughout the city.
Turn on Stephanie Miller. They get a little silly with Ethel Merman. In stage 16, it's Le Puy-en-Velay to Romans-sur-Isère (165 km). Into the Rhône Valley. Be sure to try Raviole du Dauphiné and some Rhône wine. I'd love to play tourist! Michael Matthews wins chaotic stage. He was ‘attacking like a maniac!’ Wild photo shows Tour de France rider's vascular legs after 16 stages.
Bike ride into town. What about Kambucha Town? Kombucha cocktails, craft beer & kombucha on tap. Whiskey, fresh lime, and the Gold Light kombucha. Interesting stuff.

maandag 17 juli 2017

maandag 17 juli 2017 ABC News/Washington Post poll puts President Trump‘s approval rating at 36 percent. The lowest six-month approval rating of any president in polls dating back 70 years. Chris Cornell on Soundgarden's Early Days. Recommended for me by YouTube. I really like the interview.
Next - Babel. A very serious film. Tragedy strikes a married couple on vacation in the Moroccan desert, touching off an interlocking story involving six different families around the world.

zondag 16 juli 2017

zondag 16 juli 2017 Sunday morning movie - the wild and exciting (R-rated) Zack and Miri Make a Porno. Bauke Mollema of the Netherlands wins stage 15, the first Tour de France victory of his career.
On the way into Le Puy-en-Velay (Population 19,976), you can see the iron statue of Notre-Dame de France.
After that, I'm inspired to take my own ride around the town... which is so easy because the town is small. Tour de Whatcom is in two weeks. The Northwest's Most Beautiful Ride. I notice that people are training on the trails. Is TDW a competition? Whatever! Let's watch The Flash! Trying to figure out how to rescue Iris from death... They need Wentworth Miller aka Captain Cold for the job.

vrijdag 14 juli 2017

vrijdag 14 juli 2017 No photo finish today, Barguil was the strongest!
Warren Barguil wins stage 13 on Bastille Day. Finally, he gets a stage win. Having been denied so cruelly in a photo finish at the end of stage nine. Warren Barguil deserves this one. Back in Paris... Watching the parade, I could hear Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger. OMG! French Army Performs Daft Punk Medley, Trump Does Not Look Pleased. Such a sourpuss! Bike ride deep into the heart of Columbia... 2608 Victor Street is very me! So quaint on the outside. So cool inside. I love the blue couch.
