But Hal is in the studio. They talk about Mitt Romney clinching the GOP nomination (yawn) and about the Birther issue. Donald Trump spent the day yesterday standing by his assertion that there is no actual proof that President Obama was born in the United States. Up to Rudy's for a buzz cut. My last visit to the WSLCB on 12th. They close the store today. My receipt is a souvenir.
Drop off my bottle of Svedka at my place. Walk down to the waterfront. I get an order of sweet-n-sour chicken from my favorite Thai restaurant - Mae Phim. Visit the Colman Dock. It's been so long time. There's the new ferris wheel.

I'm walking home. All of a sudden, I hear sirens. A helicopter appears above I-5. I turn on KOMO News on my radio. Man! I knew something was wrong. More guns! Woman Fatally Shot During Possible Carjacking In Seattle. This is only 3 blocks from my place. Then, a few minutes earlier... A man opened fire at Cafe Racer. Gunman Sought After 2 Killed, 3 Injured In U-District Cafe Shooting. This is really upsetting me. The random violence... 310 million Americans, 290 million guns. What could possibly go wrong? The effects of a stressed economy...(?) But we live in prosperous Seattle. That one shooting... only 3 blocks from my home! Can I even go have a cup of coffee without worrying about getting shot? So much sadness for my city.

There’s nothing more Parisian – or satisfying – than tearing off the end of a crunchy, just-baked baguette, and eating it while walking down the street. Then they do an interview with Rahm Emanuel - mayor of Chicago. He's quite a booster for the city. A couple fried eggs with hash browns for breakfast. Turn on Stephanie Miller. John Fugelsang is on the show for all 3 hours. He cracks me up about how he takes his cats for walks in a stroller through Washington Square Park. I almost snarfed coffee through my nose.
Steph and the gang contrast Romney’s record on education vs. President Obama’s record. Mitt Romney visited a charter school in a struggling Philadelphia neighborhood on Thursday and ran into some pushback from educators and protesters who took issue with his ideas on class size and the role of families in successful school systems. Walk up Westlake to work. 10 - Tanya's planning time. I'm outside with 3 groups of babies. Lovely day. When we go inside, they fall right to sleep. 11 - Olivia lunch. Join the Starfish on their playground. They play happily. The sunshine improved their moods. 12 - Anne's lunch. The Seahorses are having a picnic. Fun!
Naps take a little longer than usual, but they all sleep eventually. 2 o'clock. Sharon is subbing for Cristin. It's her lunch break. The Starfish sleep. Some wake up and have some snack. When I leave, a couple of them say, "Bye, Mike... And have a nice weekend." Walk down Mercer. The traffic is bad. All those tailpipes. Yuck! Over to Folklife to hang out.

Hummus on toast for breakfast. Turn on Stephanie Miller. Up to Kaladi for some coffee. Poor guy. I think that I spooked the clerk. I hope the drizzle let's up before my walk to work. It drizzles off and on. One of the kids says, "Come back rain!" when I point out the blue skies in the distance. That's a real Seattlite! I flow between the Sea Otters and the Starfish. It makes for a busy and fast-paced day. Playground, Bike Room, Playground, lunchtime, naps... The Starfish take a quite a long time to get settled for naps. But everyone is asleep eventually. Streetcar to d'town. Drop off stuff. Turn on The World. The Geo Quiz intrigues me. Where is Luleå, Sweden? It’s the location of a new data center being built by Facebook. The sun beckons. Short walk around d'town. Through Freeway Park to Louis Vuitton. Up 4th to the Seaboard Building. Hang out and people watch. Read a little bit of The Stranger.  Back to my place.  Egg salad and hash browns for dinner.  Oh, yeah.  I watch MST3K - Women Of The Prehistoric Planet (again).

I like how I can get AM 1090 on my iPad now. Bath. Walk up Westlake to work. Hang out a little while in the Infant Room. Then over to the Seahorses to cover Anne's visits with her new kids. I do a dramatic reading of The Three Bears. Then we head outside to the Big Playground. It's chilly and it doesn't rain on us. Toni takes some tired and cranky kids (OH MY!) inside. I stay out with the 3 rambunctious ones. Cristin and I take both groups inside for lunch. A few quick diapers. Then we sit down for lunch. They love to chat so much that it gets pretty loud. Everyone naps. Thank goodness. I'm tired. Almost everyone sleeps until I leave. Turn on The World. Toronto is the top city for growing skyscrapers. They seem a little grumpy at first, but we have a birthday party in the sandbox. Inside for potty and lunchtime. The kids conk right out for naps. No arguments today. Quiet time. I get to relax. They're still sleeping when I leave. Streetcar to d'town. Train to Uwajimaya to get some veggies and spicy fried squid. Train to d'town. Watch KOMO News. On the subject of jaywalking... Ever since I moved to Seattle, I couldn't believe the police about it. Petty (not pretty). Nice scenes of my city from this report - Critics asking SPD to back off jaywalking tickets. I need something to watch while I cook dinner - MST3K: The Screaming Skull. Of course, let's start with the famous Gumby short... Robot Rumpus.

Walk up Westlake to work. A lot of people are out today. It's an inside day for the Starfish because of the rain. We go up to Wildflowers to check out the classroom. Back down to get ready for lunch. I move over to Sea Otters for Leisha's lunch. The kids are eating lunch. Naps are a struggle, but they all sleep. Over to Starfish for Olivia's lunch. Short naps for them. So ,we go to the Bike Room. Streetcar to Whole Foods. Pick up a few things. Drop off stuff. #10 bus up to Cal Anderson Park. Walk around in the drizzle. I make it home just in time. It's pouring down rain. Watch KOMO News. He likes to chat with me. We watch the jets and seaplanes pass by. We move to the Bike Room where we meet up with another early-riser. Actually, we read a kid's book about race cars - Lightning McQueen. Turn on The World. A Scottish band is doing its part to popularize Gaelic. Ladies and gentlemen - Oi Polloi! Drop off stuff at home. Short walk around d'town. Watch some France 24. Want to hear about Hollande's visit to the USA. Busy first week for the French leader. His jet is hit by lightning. Greece is only 8% of the European economy. What's the deal? Europe at the crossroads. Chicken chili on spaghetti for dinner.  Finally, Doctor Who - The Almost People. For The First Time, Minorities Make Up More Than Half Of U.S. Births. Bath. Watch Doctor Who: The Doctor's Wife. Walk up Westlake to work. Listen to KOMO Radio. They talk about Jane Lynch's appearance on Rachel Maddow. But I laugh out loud when KOMO plays the Sue's Corner! 'Sneaky Gays' clip. HA! I'm with the 7 Seahorses while I cover for Anne. We just hang our in the classroom for a while, then we head out to the big playground. The kids seem motivated to clean up and get ready. They love it outside. Inside for lunch. Someone decides to have a melt down. Oy! Loud crying. We settle down for lunchtime, finally. Naps are easy. Quiet until 2:30. One-by-one, they wake up. Streetcar to d'town. Lots of geese are wandering down to the lake. All those babies!
Drop off stuff at home. Walk up to B'way, then back down to Freeway Park. Turn on KOMO News. Oh, my. Donna Summer, Queen Of Disco, Dies At 63. Watch Power Rangers Operation Overdrive - Lights, Camera, DAX.  A little Hardball.  Then Star Trek TNG - Relics.  Wow!  A real Dyson Sphere.

woensdag 16 mei 2012 Up with alarm. Spaghetti carbonara for breakfast. Turn on Stephanie Miller. They're experiencing some technical difficulties for the first hour. So, I take an early bath. Re-watch Doctor Who - Day Of The Moon. There's so much to assimilate. Rory is trapped on a dam. There are guns. They killed Rory. Oh, no. Not again.
I'm upgrading my iPad to iOS 5.1.1. I can't believe that it's uploading almost 8000 photos from my PC.
Turn on Weekday. They interview Former US Senator Bill Bradley. He has a new book out - We Can All Do Better. I have always admired this guy. Walk up to Westlake and take the streetcar the rest of the way to work. Crazy busy day. First thing I see is a big fat nose bleed. Bloody clothes. Bloody tissues. Jeez! I'm with the Seahorses. Sharon is subbing for Toni. The kids are getting into each others hair, so I split up the group and take them out to the playground. Now we're having fun. Fun in the sun. We have a Parent Picnic... and there are no primary-givers present. I can't believe that Sharon organized a circle time with all of the commotion. "Mommy!" "Mommy!" But the kids love The Dark, Dark Night. Eek! Monster! There's the POND MONSTER!
The parents hang out. They lead their kids to their mats, snuggle and read books. That's sweet. A couple kids cry when their moms leave. But it settles down quickly. Naps. It's quiet time. Some of them wake up early. Potty time. Read books. Set up snack. Off I go. Turn on The World. I didn't know that there was a Graffiti War In Serbia. Walk up to Whole Foods to get some dinner. I'm home. Watch KOMO News. The police gets what they get. Unnecessary use of force by its officers. A pattern of using excessive force. Report - Seattle Gives DOJ Police Reform Counterproposal.

Both groups take advantage of the nice weather and walk over to the park. The Starfish chill out in the classroom when they come back. I take half the group out to the playground while Elena sets up lunches and mats. 12 - Anne's lunch. Sharon is subbing for Toni. Nice mellow time with the 6 Seahorses. 1 - Sharon's lunch. All of the kids are asleep by 1. 2 - Up to Sunshine Kids for Mina's lunch break. The 5 kids sleep well. Turn on The World when I leave. Fairness? Equality? Healthy society? Good government? Those crazy Canadians! Why Some Canadians Want To Pay Higher Taxes. This is worth hearing, folks. Nice walk to Seattle Center. I want to stay in the cool, cool shade.

James Lipton can deliver the political humor, too. The laugh of Mittens. Sometimes, I hear the nervous laugh. And the Country Club laugh. I love the focus. Mitt's "laughter." It could use some work. It's nice to see Doctor Who again. It's Season 6 with The Impossible Astronaut and Day Of The Moon.

A majority of North Carolina voters on Tuesday approved a controversial amendment that will write a ban on same-sex marriage as well as civil unions for both gay and straight couples into the state Constitution. A lot of people from North Carolina call into the show with their comments... mostly with regrets.
