woensdag 5 mei 2010

woensdag 5 mei 2010 Up at 2:56. Try to turn on France 24, but I can't get it. BBC News works. Report - More Airports Close Over Ash Risk. Doze back to sleep, then the alarm goes off. Foo! Beans on toast for breakfast. Turn on Stephanie Miller. Oops! Steph gets Contessa Brewer in trouble for expressing her opinion about the arrest of Shahzad. Brewer:

“There was part of me that was hoping this was not going to be anybody with ties to any kind of Islamic country because there are a lot of people who want to use this terrorist intent to justify writing off people who believe in a certain way, or come from certain countries or whose skin color is a certain way,” Brewer said Tuesday during a radio interview with host Stephanie Miller. “I mean, they use it as justification for really outdated bigotry.”

Read more at Politico - Rush Limbaugh, Contessa Brewer Terror Comments Ripped. It's bizarre to hear audio sound bites from The Stephanie Miller Show on Rush Limbaugh's show. Shower. Walk up to Kaladi for coffee. A few students are keeping Luka and Jeremiah busy. Walk around First Hill to listen to the birds sing. Back to my place to finish my coffee. Play with Wikipedia. Walk up Westlake to work. Some people seem to be celebrating Cinco de Mayo early in the city of Seattle. 10 to 11:45 - Planning time for Charmaine. The 7 Sea Otters seem focused and calm, but things go from mild to wild at 150 mph. It looks like a hurricane, tornado and an oil slick ran through the classroom. Toni gets out the calm-pink play-do... just enough time to clean up the mess. We need fresh air! We're all eager to head outside. "Outside, outside!" Cathy sets up lunches. Charmaine helps us get the Sea Otters into the classroom for lunch time. 12 - Charmaine's lunch break. I sit with the kids and eat my very garlic noodles.

I do the diapers while Toni cleans up the lunch mess. I admire Toni's energy... and she's aware of the movements of each child. Kenn joins us for a little while to read to some of the kids. He has a calming influence. 1 - Teresa's lunch. The 5 Dolphins sleep. It's a nice quiet hour. 2 - Toni's lunch. The Sea Otters sleep until 2:45, then Alex, Wyatt, Maya and Caitlin wake up at the same time. Streetcar to d'town. Up to M Street Grocery to get a few things. Dump off stuff at my place. Relax... listening to today's podcast of The World. The podcast is packed... the would-be Times Square bomber, the last day of campaigning before key elections in Britain, Greek protests turn violent and the urban farmers of Ottawa. The story about the Local Food Movement In Ottawa gets my attention. Switch to France 24. Yahoo! I can get it!

Report on Culture - Female Art Exhibit: ‘elles@centre Pompidou’ I didn't know that Barack Obama visited this exhibit. Watch MSNBC News. Curried spaghetti and chicken for dinner.
