Yarmuth about Health Care issues. Up to Kaladi for some of Jeremiah's coffee. Streetcar to work. The New Yorker also has an article - The Island In The Wind. The Danish island of Samso has completely eliminated dependence on fossil fuels. Many Danes are joining wind combines cooperatives. Wind power in Denmark is remarkable. Copenhagen is hosting the United Nations Climate Conference. It is amazing to watch the Funeral Mass of Ted Kennedy. It's raining in Boston as in Seattle. We're sister cities. When I lived in Canada, I went to many masses. Even when I lived in Vermilion, Ohio... I would go to mass there. I loved their church. So, I felt familiar with the liturgy. I can't believe that I watched 3 hours of Ted Kennedy's funeral. Ted Kennedy was amazing... to be sure. But I listened to his grandsons talking about equal rights and gay rights during the intersession. How extraordinary! I cried a little. Good bye, Ted Kennedy.

I put him to sleep while Pam helps Ivy go to sleep. I am glad that I am extra early to make this happen. Ivy sleeps only 30 minutes. 1 - Erin's lunch. 6 Starfish sleep. Jack wakes up early. I take him over to Dolphins. We hang out for just a few minutes, then I get a call that 2 (then 3) more are waking up. I take the early risers out to the playground. We have fun throwing Hoola Hoops around. 2 - Leisha's lunch. The Moons and Stars visited the Soundbridge, and they are totally tuckered out. They're fast asleep. 3:15 - Streetcar to d'town. Up to my place. Change clothes. Listen to The World. They remember Ted Kennedy’s fight against apartheid. So many important issues to listen to... but a great issue is health care. Kenn and I chat while folding laundry. We talk about End Of The World scenarios. I bring up The Late, Great Planet Earth.Kenn made a bunch of Gak, too. 1 - Kenn's lunch. Bella wakes up early. We go out to the playground. Patty brings Wyatt and Alex outside, too. 2 - Olivia's lunch. I bring Bella back to her group. A lot of Seahorses are playing in the loft. Kris does a lot of diapers while I keep the group occupied (and safe). 3 - I bring Catherine's water bottle back to her. 3 - Walk straight home. Change clothes. Short walk up First Hill to the Tuscany Apartments. Back down Spring Street and thru Freeway Park to my place. Check e-mail. Kamen has some great photos of his vacation in Provincetown, MA.
Now, this is what I call Provincialism, MA. Rice and orange chicken for dinner. Watch Star Trek - Return To Tomorrow.

Turn on KUOW to listen to BBC News. I hear (again) report about prisoners in California to be released. California Jail Release Vote Due. Also - Fires NE Of Athens. I manage to doze back to sleep. Up again with alarm. Turn on Stephanie Miller. She talks about a great op-ed by Frank Rich - The Guns Of August. Rice and chili for breakfast. Bath. Walk up to M Street to get a few things. Drop off stuff. Walk up to 9th and Westlake. Catch the streetcar to work. I see the Summer Camp kids waiting for the streetcar. "Hi, Mike!" they say in unison. 10 - Breaks starting with Lydia. 11 - Kris' lunch. 5 Seahorses play. They eat well at lunchtime. 12 - Anne's lunch. Quiet time for 5 Starfish. Bump into Mike Sheehan. He talks to me about the movie Battle In Seattle. I lived in it.

Oops. Bella wakes up screaming. Some crying next door upsets her, I guess. 1 - Olivia's lunch. 5 Seahorses are napping. Eventually, Maya and Audrey wake up. I take them out to the playground. Bella is still crying. It's amazing that the kids can sleep through that noise. 2 - Patty's lunch. She has only Alex. We go out to the playground. It's warm and sunny. 3 - Streetcar to d'town. At home, I change my clothes. Take a walk down 5th Ave. to Uwajimaya to get some food - Kimbo Thai tea! #41 bus tunnel back to my place. Turn on Ron Reagan. The Hormone Control Police chase them through the hallways clad into only white towels wrapped around their waists.

Inside, 6 Starfish have free play. We make Starlink Stew in out pots and pans. I do the diapers and set out the nap mats. After lunch, they all conk out for naps. Ben puts himself to sleep. Everything is quiet up to 2. 2 - Patty's break. She has only Alex. I take him out to the playground. He enjoys watching the Todd's puppy Havanese dog. Alex finds water on the deck and plays with it. 3 - Streetcar to d'town. #550 bus tunnel to Uwajimaya. Get a Lucky Meal - Teriyaki Chicken, Onion Tofu and rice - $7.28. Train back to d'town. Love the teriyaki for dinner. Watch movie - Goldmember. Imagine the kinky things you can do with a Time Machine.

Rice and Butter Chicken for breakfast. Bath. Walk up to Kaladi for some of Jeremiah's coffee. Sit at a table for a little quiet time and to sip some coffee. Begin to space out. Walk up Westlake to work. 10 - Breaks starting with Anne. Bella is sick and conks out on her mat. Up to the Rainforest Room to do breaks for Andy and Darnell. We sing on the ABC Train. I take the conductor role. 11 - Teresa's lunch. Dolphins are napping except Stella. I put her in the back pack and she dozes off in 20 minutes. 12 - Charmaine's lunch. Her group is sleeping. Wyatt is sleeping and rolls into the toy shelf. He's very upset and LOUD! Everyone (except Caitlin) sleeps through the crying. Wyatt vents for 25 minutes. Patty has a challenge to calm him down. 1 - Pam's lunch. Her kids cry when she leaves. I take them out on the deck. Instant happiness! We try to stay in the cool shade. 2 - Patty's lunch. Rohan needs a diaper. They have freeplay. Alex bumps his head, and his bottom teeth dig into the roof of his mouth. Blood! Just a little blood. 3 - Streetcar to d'town. It's nice to catch the 3 o'clock train. #41 bus tunnel to Univeristy. Get some booze a 2nd WSLCB. #101 bus tunnel back to my place. Drop off stuff. Take a walk up to Whole Foods. The traffic seems quiet to me on my way up. Get some chips and dip. The store is rather quiet, too. Listen to The World. Report - New immigrants are flocking to Sioux Falls, South Dakota... of all places. The Dakodas seem to be weathering the recession better than the rest of the country. Pasta salad for dinner. But I manage to finish the job and sit with the kids for lunch. Aki and Nicholas sing Mary Had A Little Lamb to me. 1 - Patty's lunch. Alex and Wyatt just play. I borrow the busy box from the Dolphins.

Then we have Bikini Camp Slasher where Lisa thinks it would be lots of fun if they all were zapped into a slasher movie. Their VHS is getting erased... That's the real horror.

zaterdag 15 augustus 2009 Up at 6:30. Not hungry. Just a little Thai tea for breakfast. My back hurts and I have cramps in my legs. Nice hot bath to work out the kinks. Listen to KBCS - playing an eclectic blend of traditional folk music. Switch to KUOW to hear Wait, Wait! They make light of the health care meeting... I'm glad that they make me laugh. #49 up to Capitol Hill. Meander down Federal and 11th and down Pike to my place. Drink a little OJ. Down to Westlake Station. Catch a train to Columbia City. Rainier Ave. is busy with brunchers. Walk down Ferdinand to admire the houses. Walk over to Alaska down to Lake Washington.

I find a bench to rest my feet.

What does the little plaque say?

"Gaze out and find peace." Good idea.

On my way back, I visit Lakewood Playground. Train back to d'town. Whew! I'm tired. All that walking. Listen to Rick Steves. He talks about Budapest with a couple guests. After Rick Steves, I watch Weird Science - Camp Wannabe and Circuit Courtship. Lisa creates Gary and Wyatt a supercomputer named Hank that anticipates their every need. After Hank falls for Lisa, he decides to eliminate the competition, Gary and Wyatt.

Then Chett Reborn and Unplugged. I love this one. Gary and Wyatt want to become rock stars. As the group MegaHertz, they rocket to stardom and crash and burn within a week. Wyatt looks great in leather!
