zondag 1 mei 2011 Up at 2:16. Play movie - Destination Mars. It's a spoof on the 1950s sci-fi genre, recreating the B-movie charm of such favorites as FORBIDDEN PLANET and PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE. Female aliens let an army of robots loose on the innocent earthlings of suburbia, chaos erupts. Fun movie, but I fall back to sleep. Up again at 6:20. Turn on KEXP to listen to Antonia Juhasz talk about Black Tide at Town Hall here in Seattle (Apr. 28).

Beans on toast for breakfast. Watch KOMO News. Report - 1500 Patients Pack Free Clinic At Tacoma Dome. So many people in need and with no insurance. In Washington State, 834000 people are uninsured.

And Scott tells us that it's official - Seattle Sets A Record For Coldest April On Record. Catch a #43 up to 15th Ave. Walk around Capitol Hill. Notice a few changes - a new park Seven Hills Park. And the First Church Of Christ Scientist is being converted into a residence - The Sanctuary.
Drop by the Elliott Bay Book store. Browse through Hot: Living Through The Next Fifty Years On Earth.
There are lots of interesting books - Radical Simplicity by Merkel and The Thank You Economy by Vaynerchuk. Roll down hill to d'town. Catch a train to Mount Baker. Meander by Lake Washington. Nice day for a run.

Next stop - Columbia City. They always have something cool here. The BeatWalk is South Seattle's monthly music festival with multiple venues of live music. 2nd Fridays, May - Sept starting next week.
Listen to the M's game while going here and there. Well, you can't win them all. It's close right up to the 9th inning. Twenty-minute trip on the train back to d'town. I'm back home. Shower. Turn on the radio to listen to Smiley & West: A Conversation With Bill Withers. Perfect! Because it's a Lovely Day! Walk up to Whole Foods to pick up juice, salad and tofu. Relax with a movie - Destination Mars (again). Sesame noodles with tofu for dinner.
Then Stargate Universe - Darkness. The Destiny suffers a power crisis, putting the lives of the stranded crew in jeopardy when even the emergency reserves run dry. Dr. Rush pushes himself to the breaking point, and he has a nervous breakdown. Plus, people are suffering withdrawal symptoms from caffeine and nicotine... anxiety, irritability, headaches, hunger, and a cravings. They need to maneuver Destiny through a blue gas giant.
Play movie - Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle for Earth. I love the opening credits.
ゴジラVSモスラ

I fall asleep after the Indiana Jones scene. Deep in some musty, Angkor Wat-looking ruin, a young Japanese man - Tetsuya Bessho - is attempting to get at a small statue of an elephant-headed, multi-appendaged Hindu deity, which is standing at the far end of a cramped cubby-hole just out of the man’s reach. He eventually gets the statue, but, in a bludgeoningly obvious reference to Raiders of the Lost Ark, his success causes the ruins to crumble around him, forcing him to race to the surface with the tide of destruction at his heels. When he emerges, he finds himself looking down the barrels of several white-helmeted policemen’s rifles.
