The shooting of Representative Gabrielle Giffords and others at a neighborhood meeting in Arizona on Saturday set off what is likely to be a wrenching debate over anger and violence in American politics. Clarence W. Dupnik, the Pima County sheriff, seemed to capture the mood of the day at an evening news conference when he said it was time for the country to “do a little soul-searching.” I applaud Sheriff Dupnik for his honesty. Of course the conservatives are going ape sh*t over it. You’d think Sheriff Joe represente­d all of AZ law enforcement. It's so very sad. Hash browns and fried egg for breakfast. Shower. Walk through the WSCTC 2300 people are meeting for the 217th American Astronomical Society meeting. Walk up Westlake to work. I'm with the Dolphins and Sea Otters today. 10 to 12 - Jessica gets planning time and a lunch break. Tanja covers for Elaine. I see that the 8 Dolphins are rather cranky. Even going to the Bike Room isn't enough to release their energy. Elaine takes a handful of kids to change their diapers. 12 - Anne's lunch. The 8 Sea Otters are finishing lunch. They all go to sleep. Nice. 1 - Lynette's lunch. Peaceful hour. 2 - Elaine's lunch. Jessica takes 3 early risers to the Bike Room. I stay with the nappers. Streetcar to d'town. Train to Uwajimaya. Get a #2 special with BBQ pork and Orange chicken. #41 bus tunnel to my place. Over to Michael & Gregg's to give them a HK calendar's and to pick up some movies. We watch some parts of Empire Records.
